Western ravens are interesting in that they do not travel in flocks like crows, but are usually seen in pairs, male and female, and they mate for life. Of course they are highly intelligent.

The crows around here will get black walnuts and drop them on the pavement to break them, and at times will drop them into traffic for cars to run overif they find a tough one
I used to stomp on them to break them up better, for them.

Maybe put up some rocks they can use as an anvil that is not connected to your roof.

94 I have a family of crows I feed. There are about 4 of them. There might be 5 because there is always one that stays high up in a neighbor's tree on over watch.

I feed them mixed nuts in the shell. They will drop the nuts from the top of the street light the ones they can't immediately open with their beaks.

They are getting more comfortable with me as I can be sitting in a lawn chair and they'll walk within 3 feet of me giving me the side eye.

The crows around here will get black walnuts and drop them on the pavement to break them, and at times will drop them into traffic for cars to run overif they find a tough one
I used to stomp on them to break them up better, for them.

Maybe put up some rocks they can use as an anvil that is not connected to your roof.
