William Butler Yeats Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born? This is cool. Son and daughter in law and grandchildren were at the local park which has a creek running through it. We had high winds on Saturday and they found a dead bird and the nest in the creek and also found another baby bird, barely alive and they coaxed it back to life. The bird now thinks daughter in law is her mom and is living with them. It's a tiny thing and it sits on her shoulder most of time when she's not eating. They are hoping she will be able to return to the wild, so they are being very careful with her. They didn't know what else to do with the baby bird. They are taking great care of her. "A Caesar is a cocktail created and consumed primarily in Canada. It typically contains vodka, Clamato, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce, and is served with ice in a large, celery salt-rimmed glass, typically garnished with a stalk of celery and wedge of lime. What distinguishes it from a Bloody Mary is the inclusion of clam broth. Evening, Horde...How goes it?
I just got back from parking cars at the county fair. Some moron (and not the good kind) scheduled the fair during the rainier part of the year. So it rained all day, turning the fields we use for parking into a slick, muddy messes. A number of vehicles quickly became mired in the slop. We won't need to wait until Saturday for a demolition derby as people leave the fair tonight. Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at May 29, 2025 09:08 PM (GlyvH) 231

Bing was an early adopter of high tech recording techniques, and did much to improve the sound quality of RCA as a whole in the immediate post war era. Many of the “Living Stereo” and LPs from the 1950s are quite good even by today’s standards. Tube technology was a mature, and some or the microphones were quite excellent and still sought after today. Telefunken were prized for vocals.

"High Fidelity" was a thing, even back in the 1930's. Back then, movie theaters made great efforts to have high-quality sound, and some individuals adopted and adapted movie theater tech for their home listening setups. 78 RPM records were actually pretty damned good, within their design limits.

78s are pretty decent if the correct 78 rpm needle is used. It is a lot different in shape and size than LP cartridge needles, which will ride low in the groove, and be very noisy when played back on LP equipment.
I didn’t realize all of the technology (considered reparations) was more or less confiscated from Germany after the war. During and After the first war to end all wars, patent infringement was still a thing. The US government actually had to pay Mauser for stealing their bolt action receiver design. After WWII nobody was in the mood for any of that, and appropriated mountains of tech from the not seez. They did have advanced recording techniques, relatively. I listen to a lot of old time radio programs, among the earliest I’ve heard are “Calling All Cars” a police drama from the 1930s it is strange to hear something and realize they had Radio (the internet of the time) one hundred years ago. Lots of new technologies emerged in the 1920s, for the “consumer”, and stuff people wanted to have. Posted by: Common Tater at May 29, 2025 09:42 PM (UWyNf) 298

As I recall, there was a full court press by the leftist media to suggest all the same things they did about Biden. "Hard to keep up with", "in great shape"....etc. There were specific articles astro turfed across the left. On Feinstein, it was less common, but a few articles popped up trying to say she was up to the challenge as well. Both were nearly catatonic, and were propped up to sustain power on the left. Agree on Ronstadt for female vocals. Rogers is an enjoyable singer, but not the best in a technical sense. Posted by: Don Black It really doesn’t work that way. But. I will be fine. And I’ve already spoken to the providers involved. They trust me. They trust me with their practice and their reputations and our patients. Just pisses me off. Imma head out to the beach. It’s freaking gorgeous. Sunny and 62 with a breeze. Dye your hair orange, stand on the desk in HR and scream, "I'M NEURODIVERGENT!!!"
Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at May 29 That would be hilarious. I may dye my hair lavender for fag month. Not really. Posted by: nurse ratched at May 29, 2025 09:58 PM (h2q0O) 321

Always keep in mind that HR works for Mangement, not you.
Their sole mission is to make Problems Go Away for Management, not to provide employees with justice, and they don't much care what they do to make the Problem Go Away, as long as they think they can get away with it. Making Management wade through a mob of screeching gays with picket signs counts as a Problem for Management, while (e.g.) forcing out a straight white person does not. "I've never met one of you people who didn't suck." -- Steve Jobs to a prospective head of HR, when Apple first got large enough to need an HR department.
