113 The Second Coming
William Butler Yeats

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

115 Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

This is cool.

Son and daughter in law and grandchildren were at the local park which has a creek running through it. We had high winds on Saturday and they found a dead bird and the nest in the creek and also found another baby bird, barely alive and they coaxed it back to life. The bird now thinks daughter in law is her mom and is living with them. It's a tiny thing and it sits on her shoulder most of time when she's not eating.

They are hoping she will be able to return to the wild, so they are being very careful with her.

They didn't know what else to do with the baby bird. They are taking great care of her.

201 Looked it up:
"A Caesar is a cocktail created and consumed primarily in Canada. It typically contains vodka, Clamato, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce, and is served with ice in a large, celery salt-rimmed glass, typically garnished with a stalk of celery and wedge of lime. What distinguishes it from a Bloody Mary is the inclusion of clam broth. The cocktail may also be contrasted with the Michelada, which has similar flavouring ingredients but uses beer instead of vodka. "

It was invented at Caesar's Steak House in Calgary, where the oil patch goes to dine. Waiters in tuxes, yo! Weird Dave's lovely wife Gingy makes a killer Caesar. Mine are pretty lame: vodka, tabasco, worcestershire, and clamato in a glass, dash of salt.

216 139 Bing Crosby was a cruel and abusive father if the stories are true. Takes some of the shine off of him.
Posted by: polynikes

Bing's first family was a mess mostly because his wife, Dixie Lee, was a terrible drunk. She was a bigger star than Bing when they married in 1930. Maybe she resented having to give it up and be a Mom, Bing was a huge star. The 4 boys were completely out of control and little assholes. Dixie died of cancer in '52.
Bing had much greater success in his second marriage and those kids turned out fine. Gary wrote a book that made Bing look bad, but his brothers disavowed most of it.

296 Regarding Longmire, my buddy was acquainted with the man who wrote the books, Craig Johnson. Buddy asked what he thought of the show. Dude said, well, it didn't follow my books much, but they paid me well as a consultant, so I've got nothing to complain about.

297 78s are pretty decent if the correct 78 rpm needle is used. It is a lot different in shape and size than LP cartridge needles, which will ride low in the groove, and be very noisy when played back on LP equipment.

I didn’t realize all of the technology (considered reparations) was more or less confiscated from Germany after the war. During and After the first war to end all wars, patent infringement was still a thing. The US government actually had to pay Mauser for stealing their bolt action receiver design.

After WWII nobody was in the mood for any of that, and appropriated mountains of tech from the not seez. They did have advanced recording techniques, relatively.

I listen to a lot of old time radio programs, among the earliest I’ve heard are “Calling All Cars” a police drama from the 1930s it is strange to hear something and realize they had Radio (the internet of the time) one hundred years ago. Lots of new technologies emerged in the 1920s, for the “consumer”, and stuff people wanted to have.

302 You know what would be interesting. Going back and taking a look at how Jake Tapper commented relative to Judge Ginsburg and Diane Feinstein.

As I recall, there was a full court press by the leftist media to suggest all the same things they did about Biden. "Hard to keep up with", "in great shape"....etc. There were specific articles astro turfed across the left. On Feinstein, it was less common, but a few articles popped up trying to say she was up to the challenge as well.

Both were nearly catatonic, and were propped up to sustain power on the left.

315 > The real answer ? Kenny Rogers, Linda Ronstadt ..

Agree on Ronstadt for female vocals. Rogers is an enjoyable singer, but not the best in a technical sense.

Limiting the field to pop artists (rather than trained opera singers or whatever), I'd go with the young Paul McCartney. The boy had a set of pipes on him. Booze, cigs, weed, and time have all taken their toll there, though.

323 Always keep in mind that HR works for Mangement, not you.

Their sole mission is to make Problems Go Away for Management, not to provide employees with justice, and they don't much care what they do to make the Problem Go Away, as long as they think they can get away with it.

Making Management wade through a mob of screeching gays with picket signs counts as a Problem for Management, while (e.g.) forcing out a straight white person does not.
