Good evening Horde. The time has come for mid-week shenanigans of the overnight variety.
This is the Wednesday night ONT.
This includes providing archival records documenting the use of Nazi "ratlines." Ratlines were monetary and logistic pathways Nazis used to escape justice and flee to Latin America, including Argentina, following World War II.
Abhishek M R sued the PVR Cinemas, BookMyShow and INOX for showing long ads of about 25 minutes before the movie began, which wasted his time. A consumer court now has ordered PVR to mention the exact time of the movie in the tickets and not the time when the commercials ads begin. According to the complainant, the long ads delayed the movie time and due to which he could not get back to work. The court said that "time is money" and no one has the right to benefit from someone else's time and money.The man requested damages for "causing mental agony," punitive damages for unfair business practices, and court costs. The court awarded him $230 in damages and $92 for legal costs. The article does not say what kind of job allows enough time for a mid-day movie break (if the movie runs on time).

I also read incidentally, when swearing in the military they have you take a step forward. That is the actual formal induction, so if you tried to get cute and refuse to take the oath, they already had you dead to rights for refusing a lawful order. Maybe this was a Viet Nam era bit of folklore. I do recall the take a step forward thing however.

Six teams are within four points of a wild card spot, eight teams still in the hunt (plus the two teams IN the WC spots). Twenty or twenty-one games left.
The Western Conference has four trams within four points.
Real close horse race with a bunch of yeams slugging it out.
And the Capitals just beat the NY Rangers in OT. Sadly, the NYR got a point, pulling ahead of the Red Wings by a point.
At least it wasn't two points.

I did drywall work on the house today. Whittle it down a little. I am going to try to bodge a tiny little red-dot optic onto a vintage H&R model 922 I recently got. Some other guy (not me!) already drilled and tapped a pair of holes in the top strap, so I can use those, and not do any more defacement of the piece. I now have to get me a little set of metric taps and dies. Well, taps, anyway.

A guy I knew in college was drafted; when his group piled off the bus and lined up they were told to count off and every fifth (or maybe it was tenth) man was told to fall out and join another line because they were now in the Marine Corps. This would have been '70 or '71. The Corps may not have particularly wanted draftees, but if they were short enough on numbers now and then I imagine they'd have taken 'em.

If you've seen Indian numbers written out, that's extra funny.
One lakh isn't written 100,000. It's written 1,00,000. One crore is 1,00,00,000.
We have new names for numbers for every multiple of 1000 (thousand, million, billion, etc), and write numbers with commas every 3 places to match that. Indian numbers do that for the first one, then switch to a new name for every multiple of 100, and put commas in to match that pattern.

I noticed that one of the orders from the Indian court was that theaters publish the actual start time of the feature. That should be mandated here, maybe under existing truth in advertising laws. Run the trailers after the feature. Many movie fans might stay and watch the trailers, in order to be able to exit when the aisles are less crowded.

I think he would have no choice He would lose a handful of seats in the 4 major cities, but the the opposition Conservatives would lose many more, so a net gain for the Liberals in the House, probaly give them a majority government again. I doubt he would try to use the military against us; that might very well result in massive desertions by those military already stationed out here.

Yeah, beautiful build quality, top notch. I used to have one, but I just couldn't find a place where it was useful. Its like it sits in a weird tonal range that wasn't part of my world. I tried like hell to find a place where it fit. I played a shit ton of them over the years, some were amazing players, they played by mind control, but I still couldn't hear anything familiar in them. One of my great nephews is engaged to a girl who is ethnically half Mexican, half Palestinian. Born here. His airheaded mother has been telling me she's half Persian. Both start with a "P", don't you know, so how was she to remember which was which, oh, and they're both Arab countries, so what's the difference? 🙄🙄🙄 Why yes, she's an elementary school teacher in California, why ever do you ask?
Anyway, the young lady seems very nice. Very laid back, polite, dry humor. Haven't met her mother, but my SIL says she's also very nice. Barely any accent and very well dressed, she says they're very well off and she doesn't think they're in the least bit religious, because they're constantly doing things on Sunday. 😵💫She wasn't sure about Friday and wondered why I asked. 😶😶
She then proceed to describe recent evening gatherings that sound like Iftar to me. Which is no big deal, I have Muslim friends who do the Ramadan thing half heartedly around their grandparents. Trying not to worry unduly.

The Wiki article on Frederick Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby, is pretty interesting. He was a pretty accomplished guy, and well respected both in England and in Canada. Stanley Park in Vancouver was named for him, and dedicated by him.

Hubby had another episode today: agitated. Obsessing about "going home" and nothing, but nothing, would dissuade or distract. Ugh! He cannot come home, as it would be unsafe for both of us.

Oh dear oh dear. I've seen those sudden obsessions with "going home" but usually they are a passing or intermittent thing. I've seen very skilled and patient caretakers calm clients down with ice cream, a comfortable chair over here, whatever.

I have joined other forums. I have read every medical website and article I could find, ever since hub's diagnosis 4 years ago. The doctors said *then* that he had less than 6 months. Well, here we are! But I think it's 'for real' now...
Up until the end of January, I was managing it all while hubby kept slipping mentally and finally couldn't handle him anymore.
Sorry if I've overstepped a boundary. Just seems some people are allowed to talk about problems, but maybe I'm not one of them?

My cousin's mother left this life in a similar manner. The moment Cuz knew Mom needed full time care is when she got loose and went up and down the street for some sugar and eggs to make cookies. Degree of difficulty: she was stark naked. It took a few months for things to calm down in the neighborhood.

Keep posting here my friend, this is what kept me sane for the longest time.
I went to the Texas MOME for the first time in 2021. I was at wit's end, lied to my kids about what I was doing because they wouldn't understand. I needed to get away and the Horde had become my online family night after night.
It was the very best thing that I have ever done for myself. The Horde is real, and it is spectacular. I have never met a more genuine and caring group of people in my life, many of whom I call friends.

The dementia is definitely related to liver disease. His liver is no longer able to filter out toxins, particularly ammonia, that affect mental processes. That's why he is now incontinent and losing his reasoning abilities.
Lactulose & rifaximin help, by flushing out or preventing the formation (respectively) of ammonia in the digestive tract. They worked very well, at first. Now? Less. And less.

Well..... Yeah, details are hard to find. The *final* failure can be either slow or sudden, I've read. That helps a lot, right?
One could guess that liver failure is liver failure, regardless of cause?
When hubby was first diagnosed, Dr. said "get your affairs in order. Now." Will, P of A, Advance directive, etc. before the dementia made it impossible.
