Good morning kids. The big story this morning remains not only President Trump's Gaza plan whatever it is or whatever it might actually be and the reactions to it. First of all, regardless of whatever my personal feelings are towards the so-called "palestinian" residents of Gaza, and whatever Trump's intentions and feelings are, to forcibly or otherwise coerce/induce them to leave for other pastures, greener or otherwise, would be considered as "Ethnic cleansing" and as such from an international relations standpoint as well as a PR standpoint would be and should be considered as a non-starter. He has also suggested turning Gaza into a Riviera on the Mediterranean where the inhabitants would flourish, if only they'd give up trying to annihilate Israel. If only, if only.

As many have speculated, Trump putting these schemes down and also claiming the US will own Gaza is his way of laying down an opening bid as if this were merely one of his signature deals, wherein the other side will accept perhaps something a bit less and then everyone comes out a winner. Unfortunately I think this betrays on his part a rather naive if not uninformed knowledge of the region and its history, and to me this is kind of shocking. Unless what he is hoping for is merely a reaction by enemies foreign and domestic that he can point a finger of blame at and expose the problem. Look, I love the guy and I think as far as America, Israel and our real allies are concerned he does indeed have their and our best interests at heart. But this whole scheme is nuts to think it actually would work out.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of “CBS Mornings,” White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz stated that President Donald Trump’s Gaza proposal is “going to bring the entire region to come with their own solutions, if they don’t like Mr. Trump’s solutions.” And that other realistic solutions have been lacking. . .
. . . Waltz continued, “I think it’s going to bring the entire region to come with their own solutions, if they don’t like Mr. Trump’s solutions. So, that’s what we saw, and I think that is just living in the commonsense, practical reality of this awful situation that’s going on in Gaza and has been going on for quite some time.”

Sadly, what seems to be lacking is Waltz's understanding of history. Let me break it to you gently Director Waltz, the rest of the region has had a solution for 1500 years: It's called finishing Hitler's Final Solution, also known as Mohammed's Initial Solution! To be charitable to Trump, Waltz and company, I'm sure they know this, but the real solution to the problem, is recognizing that the problem itself is Islam. Even if you move a couple million Gazans, you still have 1.5 billion muslims seeking to kill every Jew and other infidel on the planet so as to create an Islamic caliphate that encompasses the entirety of said planet Earth. The estimable Robert Spencer and others have written and spoken of (When they've been allowed) of the Ummah, or worldwide Islamic rule. This is preached in every Mosque and madrassa on a daily basis. Unless and until you can at a minimum get the Islamic world to renounce this and its views on Jews and infidels, You can build Rivieras out the wahzoo and it won't mean a damn thing. Look at Bali in Indonesia? Look at Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain. And look at Beirut circa pre-1975. The fate of all the others will ultimately be Beirut, not because of the bombs and shells from the IDF defending itself or God-forbid avenging yet another October 7 assault/pogrom which would be bloodier by orders of magnitude. It would be at that behest and by the hands of subsequent generations of Mad Mullahs itching to purge non-Islamic western corruption. You can destroy and rebuild cities. A tyrannical, genocidal bloodlust going back nearly two millennia is quite something else, Mr. President. Gazans don't want the Riviera. They could've had it decades ago. If what you wanted to do was just expose this ugly truth to the world, this whole Riviera and/or mass relocation dog and pony show IMHO has fallen flat and could come back to bite you. We'll have to wait and see.

Fortunately, on many other fronts both here and abroad, the steamrolling of the anti-American Left continues, with much rending of cloth and wailing from the usual suspects.

If America is going to be fiscally responsible for funding the defense of the area, and if it's chief principal interest in the area is strategic, we might as well just take it for ourselves, put a military base on it, and then create a tax base there.

With Trump's resorts in Dubai, he understands that Arabs aren't necessarily inclined to war and terror when they are able to prosper financially in western capitalist areas.

I say go for it. If it's our responsibility to defend the area, then we should have authority on what to do with it. This idea that Israel can keep screwing up their own security and calling daddy in to come fix it while still claiming it's theirs to do with it as they like is ridiculous.

I tend to agree here. I seem to recall Trump trying to convince fat boy in North Korea that the country could be transformed into a paradise of innovation, tourism, freedom and wealth. Even did a glossy video to show him how great things could be if only...

There are just some problems that aren't going to be worked out the way we see it in America. The "Palis" have no desire to live in freedom, in nice houses, in all the luxuries we enjoy. Not really. They're ingrained with a seething hatred that goes back 1000s of years. It's what they live for. Picturesque ideals we can understand don't register with them. I wish Trump would stay away from that entire hornet's nest. Of course, YMMV.

One possible benefit of Trump pushing his plan is that when everyone in the region rejects it, he has a reason to refuse to get involved in all of the reconstruction that they want to do. (They’ve been counting on the US to finance reconstruction)

I think the most likely future is that Gaza continues as it is now for maybe a decade or more - in complete ruins with miserably angry people living in tents. Only radical solutions can change that, and if radical solutions are not acceptable the status quo continues indefinitely.

Latin was already more or less a clerical language by the time of the gospels. Nobody had walked around speaking only Latin for a good long while. You had your local language or vernacular, you had common (koine) Greek for daily business, and used Latin for formal government stuff, religious stuff, academic and artsy fartsy stuff, etc.

It's why the books of the new testament were all in Greek i would assume. It was a universal language, but also an everyday language. You didn't need to be a scholar. There isn't obtuse, flowery language in it very much. "This is what happened. And then.... and then... and then...." It was to tell a story to anyone willing to hear it, not to be a government record or some kind of work of art.

What's being proffered up as "evidence" in the ongoing USAID debacle is only part of the issue. Because if I claim to be funding, say Dick and Jane over there, but am really sending the money to Steve and Marsha somewhere else it's hard to really "follow the money."

I just understood his position to be that portions of prophesy can be fulfilled in the near term, while other portions are yet to come.

So Revelation might in part apply to Nero's destruction of Jerusalem and the messages to the churches might be to actual churches of the day, while Revelation also foretell of the second coming at a later time in the end of days.

It's an interesting eschatological view and kind of contradicts the conventional pre-millennialist development of things like rapture theology.

The funny thing is that DOGE is using the statutory authority of a USDS (US Digital Services) agency created by Obammy and repurposed to make sure government agencies run "efficiently". I too advocated exactly this solution after the October horrors, because it isn't enough to destroy Hamas and its ilk, a new way forward for the Gazans has to be made obvious to them (in hopes they will somehow begin to want to become civilized). Changing Gazans view of their future is the key and that is a very tall order. But, as Trump said, "Why not be happier?"

But we all have to recognize this is Trump's opening gambit and developing a southern coast Monaco has a long way to go before the idea is even a serious proposal. The Gulf States and SA are going to be major players in any solution, obviously, as is Jordan. Let's watch how this goes.

There are many ways to do the latter, but simply creating Govt funded organizations for one obscure purpose or another, which are then headed by members of the extended family of politicians with great benefits and perks, is time-tested and bipartisan.

The pushback is going to be the same.

Most are probably maintained weekly by agent/inspector & then closed & forwarded biweekly to management to certify & to timekeeping for ee. payment, accounting for sick and/or annual leave taken, etc.

A nice tracking system for how many hours were spent on a particular case, by whom, etc. BTW feds are 'taught' never lie about time and attendance because it's theft. (Still happens often but can be caught & repaired if the ee. is "valued" enough.) Also, never sign anything other than an agency case file - if in control of that case - because that's stating accuracy, honesty of the file.
