Trump Orders "One Flag" Policy -- Only the American Flag Will Fly at Federal Buildings. No Gay Flags, No BLM Terrorist Flags.

This is a small thing but a good thing. The headline said that only one flag is permitted. That's not exactly true -- flags to honor POWs and hostages are allowed.The Trump administration has implemented a "One Flag Policy," restricting government buildings and U.S. embassies from flying flags other than the American flag, with limited exceptions. The move reverses policies under the Biden administration that permitted pride and Black Lives Matter (BLM) flags alongside the Stars and Stripes. Key Details: The policy, effective immediately, restricts flag displays at U.S. facilities to the American flag, the POW/MIA emblem, and the Wrongful Detainees Flag. State Department employees violating the directive face disciplinary action, including potential termination. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued the order as part of broader Trump-led initiatives to eliminate "wokeness" in federal operations. I think it would require a complete and honest, very tough national conversation around culture, heritage, national identity and what the upsides and downsides (including economic) are of any policies supporting that. As well as a complete end of any talk on this subject being "racist" or somehow something only white people are not allowed to talk about (while our government is flying black power and gay flags at our embassies).
Basically "are we sure we're all on board with national suicide? If not, then we need to make some incredibly drastic changes in our culture, our government and our informal institutions. This is going to require a society-wide focus on defending our culture and preserving it for future generations."
So in other words, probably not going to happen.

I have to mention the pattern I see.
At my Catholic church there are families. Young families. Families with 5-6 kids. Several of them at our little adjunct campus of the larger church.
The bulletin includes a message every week about how small kids are a blessing and people should be understanding.
The anti-human message of the left is mainly falling on the left, and we're just now seeing the results of that campaign with the youth trending to the right in rejection of the dominant ideology of suicide for Gaia.

Nah. The last part may be correct, as I think it's undeniable that interest in children has cratered. But not the first part. The sexual attraction is still there. What has changed is the maturity level and oppression of helicopter parents that prevents young men from getting out there and hunting for girls.
When I was 15, I was trolling bars in Manhattan for college girls. I was taking many Heismans (which builds character) but also having some success (which builds confidence). It's inconceivable that any 15 year old would do that now. His parents would be arrested for child abuse.
Plus, the willingness to chase girls is hampered by the thinking (which isn't wrong) that the girls who traditionally would be in their league are out of reach because they overvalue their worth and are fixated on guys out of their league.

A smart educated "reasonable person" in 2024 can't even define with any certainty what a "woman" is.
And I don't mean that to be funny. Our culture has gone insane in the last however many years (at least 20+, I'd say). I know several good looking single women in their 30's with good jobs who desperately want to get married and start a family. But they bought the lie that women should spend their 20's partying and working on their careers, and that they can have a family in their 30's. But successful, good looking 33 year old men aren't dating 33 year old women with good careers. They're dating 26 year old women. And a lot of them.
So that leaves the 33 year old woman with limited options.
I don't know the answer, it's a mess.

At my home school community, we grew about 300-400 %, in part*, due to an increased focus on classical moralization, which includes respect for adults.
*There were some closures of neighboring programs due in part to a trend toward tolerance for woke ideals in those programs, and we absorbed a lot of those refugees. A central issue with those programs grew out of a rejection of a paper/presentation by a student that advocated for a return to traditional male/female roles, which rejection was antithetical to one of the main focuses of the entire program, open presentation of ideas and critical thinking. Our group did the hard work and moved on from that program rather than tolerating leftist rot.

Same. It used to be the families with lots of kids were mainly in the wealthier parishes. But now at my middle class parish, more young couples are coming in with their babies and toddlers and it's kind of obvious they're not using birth control.
I got to know one of the dads, he named their latest child after an Italian woman who founded 75 recovery centers for those suffering from addiction. He is one of the boys that Mother Elvira Perzotti saved.

I agree. Similar to my comment above about men checking out of the dating game, there are also reverse incentives for settling down and getting married. The view of many men is that marriage is a raw deal for them if it doesn't end up happily ever after. They think -- rightfully, to some extent -- that a divorce will punish them while rewarding their ex.

Well, sure, that's a solution. Find an older guy, maybe divorced with kids, might make less money than them.
But that's not what they were promised. They're settling, they know it, and they'll be unhappy their whole lives.
And yes, we all know it's their own fault. But it is sad that they were so mislead, and I think it also is one bullet point in the "why are divorce rates so high and why are people not having enough kids?"
Should their mothers have told them to ignore society about this? Yes, of course. But many of their mothers were unhappy with their own life choices and were really in no position to give anyone timeless advice.
And now we have ANOTHER generation of that.

- no one will host high school parties b/c of punitive laws - I know a family who lost their house and jobs bc they hosted a party (and made the kids stay over!). there are no school mixers now either and there are no under 21 clubs either.
- then in college the parties all have lists now for insurance reasons, you can't just go out and pop into frat parties anymore
it's really really hard for them to socialize when young, and that's not to mention the COVID disaster

Whats unsettling is that red states tend to skew too hard in favor of women in divorce court. Tennessee is one of the WORST places in the US to get married as a man, as the child custody is awarded to women almost 90% of the time
In Washington state the custody rights is more 50/50 indicating that theres more fair treatment of men in court
so the solution to get married and hope for a fair divorce settlement should the worst happen is to... live in a blue state?

Blue states tend to be more generous to the wife in terms of child support and alimony. I know this through personal experience. In many cases, the judge will ignore the wife's current economic circumstances in determining how much the husband pays. So a wife with a higher-paying job -- or rich parents or a new rich boyfriend or even husband -- doesn't get any less in support or alimony. It's insane.

I don't think I'd go that far. I'm in a relationship now, but I was dating in NYC not that long ago.
Women are not empowered. They are miserable, too. Most women want to find their "perfect man" who doesn't exist (they dramatically lower their standards when the biological clock goes haywire at around age 30), and are absolutely miserable about the "fuck boys" on the dating apps. And as you mention, most guys will not approach a woman in person for fear of being called a creep and being told to leave the bar for harassing women.
For a guy, it's a buyers market on dating apps if all you're looking for is random hook ups. Which many guys are looking for.
So in some ways, dating apps are a much better deal for men (again, assuming you're just looking to hook up with random girls and live somewhere with a lot of young single random girls).

The concept is the judge should look at the totality of the circumstances, what the kids' life and the exes' life will be like in total. So yea, if you're the daughter of oligarchs, and your kids have rich grandparents, that should matter. Family money is money. It does seem to matter when the husband's family is rich.

I get that too. Most aren't. And on those days when I was not at work (weekends, holidays) and was home, I never knew how the large majority of mothers managed everything that needed to be done day in and out.
BUT never would I have wanted to be home with my crew almost every day of their lives, from birth to college. It wasn't my mother when it was unheard of mothers to be be employed outside the house, and I think it rubbed off on me too. (I did hear from kid #1 that I was the only full time working mother when It was in grades 1 through 4, Catholic grade school.)
