51 Aurora, or Dawn, was one of Bouguereau’s most acclaimed works. It is the first in a series of canvases representing the four Times of Day: the others were Dusk in 1882; Night in 1883; and Day in 1884. Allegorical representations of the four Times of Day date back at least to the Renaissance period. Bouguereau’s Times of Day are a study in complements and contrasts; when viewed together they reveal harmonies of line, form, and color. They exemplify his standards of ideal beauty and feminine grace in the 1880s.

107 Romanticized women, sensual and naked. No wonder the artist was so popular. Seriously, aside from the obvious, Bouguereau's talent comes through with how he manages the pose of the model, the details of the plant and how he captures the sheer, flowing garment. Thanks for asking!

She's getting better. Sutures continue to look clean. The drainage tube got removed yesterday, so that's been our focus, keeping her from scratching that. She's suddenly a sweater dog.

When I took her to the vet yesterday, it was the first time since she'd been attacked that she'd come face to face with another dog. We were in the little waiting area with a husky, and Lily just went right up to the other dog and acted curious and unafraid. So, it looks like the event hasn't permanently affected her behavior.

She's on the mend.

It does and it has, and my work is closed -- at least they probably expect me to do some remote work, and I'm checking my email periodically. The snow started about 7:30 am and is supposed to continue all day until about dark. Which means it will still be dangerous to drive tomorrow too.

So far there is noticeable dusting on the grass and tree roots outside my door. One of my welcome mats looks like white cake icing. Windshields too. A little later I'll put on my rain boots (which are a little small, but I'm not walking far), a hat, and my rain/snow coat, and go out to photograph my car.

The only questionable item in this bio is when Bouguereau went to meet King William III of the Netherlands in May 1876: "The king admired the artist and they spent intimate times together." It seems all the debaucherous Impressionist painters sniffed at William's work which I am taking is rooted in he didn't paint enough lesbians and people with STDS. There is no accounting for taste is guiding rule here.

201 William-Adolphe Bouguereau's Wiki page says his work was extremely popular in his day but fell out of favor with the Impressionists and later art movements. That's not a surprise given that just attractive artwork, pleasant simply to look at, was denigrated. Bouguereau's work reminds me of the Pre-Raphaelites, which is a good thing in my opinion. I wonder if he influenced Maxfield Parrish.

And according to the double blind Oregon study from about 20 years ago, the health outcomes of people on Medicaid are no better than having no insurance at all.

The only advantage was a slightly improved feeling about financial wellbeing for those on the program.

For that, we must pay $1 trillion a year and anyone who thinks about cutting it hates poor people and wants to feed them to crows, or something.

But there was disagreement, right?

One of the greatest fears the left has is a mass uprising of normies. They got a mere taste of that on J6 and responded by using the boot of government on those peaceful protestors.

If they've lost that level of control and the normies stay active then literally all could be lost for the left...

285 Medicare is Federal
Medicaid is State

In broad sweeping terms, Medicare is for old people. Medicaid is for old poor people, and young poor people.

I've been working in the Medicaid world for years. For the most part illegals are *not* eligible for Medicaid. Generally, the only thing Medicare will cover for them is emergency medical services--and the hospital will submit paperwork on their behalf, and it is extremely limited -- definitely does not compare to traditional medical insurance. However, non-citizen pregnant women can get temporary pregnancy coverage that expires 60 days post-partum, and because of the whole anchor baby thing, most of the time the child automatically qualifies for coverage.

Also, Tennessee has one of the most well-run Medicaid programs in the country, and it literally accounts for one THIRD of the state's annual budget.

A lot of famous people worked for him at one time or another. He'd give anyone a break as long as they worked cheap.

My favorite Corman story is about him sending a crew (including a young Francis Ford Coppola) to Ireland to shoot some Irish-themed movie. They got it in the can, so they called up Corman and said "Yeah, we're done a week early, and still have a bunch of unused film stock".

Corman's response: "Well, Francis wants to be a director. Having him write a screenplay and shoot it in the next week."

306 The definition of “poor” is very loose. A family making $75k is now “poor” in some states and hence qualifies for Medicaid.

It’s a back door way to socialize medicine. If yiu get everyone on some kind of program, you have a de facto govt run system. It’s like Obamacare subsidies now are available for people making over $100k a year. These are subsidies for “low income” people.

Before Ann-Margret, Roger Smith had been a busy actor. He played detective Jeff Spencer on 77 Sunset Strip in the late Fifties and early Sixties, he did a TV version of Mr. Roberts in '65, and earlier he had played the young Creighton (later Lon Jr.) Chaney in the biopic of Lon Sr. called Man of a Thousand Faces w/ Jimmy Cagney.

He wrote a famous ep of Sunset Strip which contained *no dialogue whatsoever, and yet it was easy to follow. I saw it on MeTV some years ago. A fascinating stunt, done because there was a writer's strike and he was not in the union -- but he couldn't write any dialog. Hence the silent episode.

most definitely. I had a WC claimant who became a partial paraplegic after a work accident. He was a sheetrock guy. He was trying to get SSDI after his WC income benefits ended but they continually turned him down. I tried to assist him by providing all the medical records that showed his inability to continue working but to no avail. I think it should have been a slam dunk but he eventually had to get a lawyer.

On the other hand I personally know people who are on SSDI and are working other places getting paid undertone table , playing golf, doing landscaping jobs, etc.

And here's the Census' own explanation:
