Israel Delays Approving "Peace Deal" As Hamas Continues Changing the Terms

First of all, don't expect those American hostages to be returned alive:

Open Source Intel
@Osint613

SAD NEWS

U.S. State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller reports that out of the 7 American hostages in Gaza, only 3 are believed to be alive, while the remaining 4 are confirmed dead.

Hmm, what do you call a kidnapper who kills the victim? I think you call that kidnapper a "murderer," don't you?

We learned yesterday that while Israel agreed to release 30 terrorists for each living Israeli civilian released, and 50 terrorists for each living Israeli soldier released, Hamas changed that deal point when they "accepted the deal" and count dead "bodies" as released living hostages.

They're changing the deal terms further: Israel said that they would never, ever release any terrorists involved in 10/7, but Hamas says that they can specify which of the terrorists are released, and of course they want their Murderous Death Cult Heroes of 10/7 to be the first released.

Quoting the WSJ:

...Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas on Thursday of reneging on parts of the agreement during negotiations taking place in Qatar, creating what his office called "a last-minute crisis."

...

Overnight, the PMO said that the purported dispute was related to the identity of Palestinian security prisoners slated for release. It said Hamas was "demanding to dictate the identity of these murderers," contradicting agreed-upon terms.

Hamas is also renegotiating Israel's withdrawal from key strategic places -- Israel said they'd withdraw from those chokepoints if Hamas abode by the other parts of the "deal," but now Hamas is demanding a withdrawal whether Hamas abides by the "deal" or not. And they're not abiding by the "deal." They're changing the terms every few hours.

Unlike many here, I wasn't sour on the proposed deal as it was described, because it accomplished what Israel (and the USA) most wanted -- getting the hostages back -- while leaving room for further foot to ass.

I also commented that I doubted the deal would ever come to closure, because these savages would renege before the ink was dry. The reality is you can't make deals with feral bloodthirsty mutants who look at underage goat asses and think "yum."

78 Maybe Trump begged Bibi to wait until after the inauguration so he can take all the credit.

No doubt it's all done to deny our President the credit he deserves. I was wondering how Bibi was going to sabotage the whole thing.

I guess the airstrikes killing 80 civilians since the deal was reached wasn't enough to kill the deal so now Bibi has to just come out and reject the deal outright. I don't believe one word he says, he does not care about those hostages, he does not want peace, he wants Gaza in ruins so it can be bulldozed, occupied and re-settled for Israeli Jews only.

Wait a few days and The Traitor will crow about how he stopped the war in one day. His "Hell to pay" comment (that he said in November) was all over the media last night.

(From Yesterday) My fear is the opposite. Netanyahu will add new conditions like last time and sabotage an almost-there agreement. It will be presented as Hamas' fault of course and that will be echoed by Israel's supporters. And Trump of course.

104 74 It's almost as if Israel (and/or the USA) knows they can offer any terms to Hamas, no matter how lopsided in Hamas' favor, and it won't matter because these rancid goatfuckers will renege no matter what.

Of course there is. To wipe out Hamas would require Israel to wipe out the Gaza Strip. Every resident there is a future member of Hamas. The Gazans are grains in an hourglass. Hamas is just the grains in the neck of the glass.

This entire deal was doomed from the start. A disaster if Hamas adhered to the terms. A disaster if they did not. Trump should have never associated himself with it.

Which is why I think getting the hostages back has been the prime directive for Israel (and the USA) since 10-7. See my comment above. This is why you should never negotiate with terrorists. No matter how hard it is to let go of the idea of getting back hostages -- it's easy for me to say, I get it -- at the end of the day that just leads to more dead Jews and hostages being taken.

Israel uses a reserve army system and it is showing strain on the economy to fight this long. Then there is the problem that Israel has with other fronts, Lebanon and Hezbollah, and Syria.

Plus, there is a considerable amount of people in Israel sympathizing with those who have their loved ones captive with Ham Ass and want them returned. Israeli politics is coalitional and any majority coalition is subject to flying apart at the worst possible time leading to a political crisis.

Then there are problems in relations with the broader world and the risk of destabilizing adjacent cold peace regimes like in Jordan or Egypt.

I won't second guess Israeli governments for doing whatever they choose to do, but a lot of others will, inside and outside that country.

Hezbollah took some Soviet hostages from the Soviet Lebanese embassy, back when they were very successful taking Western hostages.

The KGB flew a team to Beirut, captured some close relatives of senior Hezbollah leaders, and started sending pieces of the relatives to the Hezbollah leadership.

The Soviet hostages were then freed by Hezbollah.

If memory serves, the Hezbollah hostage takers who'd snatched Soviet diplomats in Beirut were untouched, but some of their male family members disappeared, only to be found on the street outside of other family members' houses, along with an ultimatum. Hezbollah released the hostages, along with a formal apology.

As Bob Woodward noted in his book "Veil", CIA Director Bill Casey heard about the incident, and chuckled darkly that the KGB linguists sure did know how to speak Hezbollah's language.

I hate being right. My prediction is that there is going to be a shortage of contractors. There are going to be personal finance issues. There are going to be delays on those lucky enough to have insurance. The State of California is going to use all these delays to put a condemn order on selected properties. They are going to clear the debris using a high priced contractor. The law in Calif. stacks that cost on your Property Taxes. Then, those that delay and leave their taxes in arrears are going have it taken right out from under them so apartments can be built by crony developers to the State.

This makes sense, CBD. In the OT, when Saul was killed by the Philistines and his body desecrated, David sent elite warriors to go behind Philistine lines to retrieve the body and give it a proper burial. They expended just as much effort to get a body back that they would have to simply win a battle.

Looks like Hamas doesn't want a deal. It always looks like that. They get a truce and then fire rockets into Israel 15 minutes later. It's performance art, they don't mean it.

The dead hostages are dead because Hamas has not put any effort into keeping them alive.

To some degree, Ham Ass follows a cell structure just as Hez Blown UP does. That means semi autonomous activity is built in for the cells in case leadership is compromised. That same cell structure makes it difficult enough for outside leaders to know what is going on (along with Israeli going after communication lines) and commanding them.

That also makes it likely that Ham Ass cells ignore the main leadership and go rogue in continuing attacks. Israel and the West trying to come to a deal and then being undercut by Ham Assholes repeatedly puts the onus on Ham Ass for failures rather than Israel or US. Optics.

They need real-time proof of life. Send a sack of cellphones to Hamas. Tell them to give each live hostage a cellphone at a given hour on a given day, so they can call home, and send a selfie pic. Calls to last at least ten minutes, and be monitored by IDF.

301 And they're not abiding by the "deal." They're changing the terms every few hours.

This, unfortunately, is actually common in Arab culture. Friends of mine who in the past had come to a contractual agreement with building contractors who were Middle Eastern were unpleasantly surprised when the contractor began altering the terms of the agreement AFTER it was signed, and acted like such ex pst facto alterations are their Standard Operating Procedure.

Their attitude was, "The contract we signed with is is simply the lie we tell to trick money out of you -- of COURSE we don't plan to abide by the agreement. How could you be so naive to expect otherwise?"

And I[ve heard countless similar tales from travelers in Arab lands -- come to an agreement on the price of something "hotel room, carpet, dinner), commit to it, and THEN they either present you with a bill for a different (higher) price), or just as often add in extras you didn't order but have to pay for anyway.

Hamas is just acting like they always do, but now with human lves at stake.

A kid I had at the Y many moons ago grew up to be a rabbi, and he did tell me once that prisoner swapping and hostage taking probably predates both religions and was likely a common practice in ancient times, so it is viewed differently there than how we see it in the US and Western cultures.

Defense Minister Israel Katz and the ministry's director general, Eyal Zamir, held an assessment today with officials from the ministry, IDF, and COGAT as part of those preparations.

Katz and Zamir "directed that all ministry capabilities be made available for implementing the hostage release deal, receiving the returning hostages, and supporting their families," a statement says.

The ministry's Engineering and Construction Department, Logistics and Assets Department, and Crossing Points Authority "will conduct an accelerated operational, logistical effort to execute all aspects required by the IDF to implement the deal, including infrastructure work and providing all logistical solutions needed for the operation's success," the statement adds.

He doesn't have to use military force but economically cripple Iran so they can't sponsor Hamas anymore or the Iranian regime falls and no longer wants to fund foreign actors (Hezbollah, Houtis, Hamas).

Can someone explain to me why Hamas even has a fighting force left? They are surrounded, no? Can Israel just grind them down day by day until there is no one left to fight? They can't resupply or refill their ranks. Perhaps the hostages prevent Israel from being more aggressive than they would like, but I never got the feeling they were backing off. How much territory does Hamas control? Can they still hide and organize?

367 It' an interesting moral-dilemma "whait if" question: How can one compare the values of life?

If you could rescue EITHER one dog OR one human baby, which would you choose? Almost everyone would say "the baby."

But what if the choice was: If you could rescue EITHER one MILLION dogs OR one human baby, which would you choose?

How about:

If you could rescue EITHER the entire species of all dogs in existence OR one human baby, which would you choose?

Now it's getting a little more difficult to decide.

Etc.

One could, in this example, dogs at least have value.

One Jewish baby is worth more than every single Hama member combined.. Heck, one mangy half-blind rabid junkyard dog is worth more than every single Hama member combined.

Simply put, to eradicate Ham Ass would require such a level of death to Gazans that the price for Israel to do it would be steep as in becoming something like South Africa under apartheid pariah state. No Arab country wants the Palestinians who would promptly shit on their hosts and try to overthrow those governments. I, as a US citizen, absolutely reject allowing any of those Gazans (or Hezbollah-Syrian Baathists) entry into the US as refugees as well (State Department itself floated that piece of shit notion).

So about the only thing Israel can meaningfully do is run Gaza as an open air prison which has its own costs (internal and external). Remember how Israel was blamed for the Christian militia killing a bunch of Palestinians in Lebanon in a refugee camp). Any slaughter between factions in Gaza would be blamed on Israel for example.

427 They're not going to abide by anything for long. It's in their genes.

And the current 'administration' has been working hard boxing the next in through everything and anything including soaring costs, war, broke K-12 education, outsourcing....

Give 'em 2 years of Trump Administration rebuilding efforts before they'll be fully prepared to swoop in again during midterms.

428 It's ironic that Jon Voight now has a huge position of political backing by the president, because of his daughter.

Angelina Jolie is nuttier than a fruitcake, but I had a friend who worked in DC, and admired her for pounding the pavement and making the rounds of their offices for the causes she supported for women and children abroad. Heard nothing but admiration for her work on that front.

Now her dad has all this political power, will she try to leverage it? They are super estranged because of his abandonment of her as a kid, and because of their clashing politics. He's expressed sadness he can't see his grandkids. Not sure if that will ever work itself out.

429 Daughter wants to watch The Passion of the Christ but she's 9. I don't think she's ready for the scourging at the pillar. I wasn't when I saw it at 28.

Not for kids. It's one thing to intellectually know what took place. It's a other to witness it. When you watch the movie, you are a witness. It's worth doing, but it's not entertaining. It's an experience of solidarity. Also, super creepy devil, and judas is tormented by evil children before he snuffs it.

431 Someone alluded to this up-thread.
Maybe Israel is running low on clean targets. They aren't savages and won't just level all of Gaza.
But if they cut loose terrorists, I'm sure Mossad or whomever can rig some neat trick to track them. Then you cut loose your little die markers and let them trace the system for you, illuminating hot spots to zap.
As a bonus Mossad could make a big deal about giving free dental care to the captured terrorists. Fill all cavities, install implants, the works and legit dental care. 5 gets you 10 the first thing Hamas does is tear all that out. And certainly after they start getting wise as to why their previously safe C&C and depot centers keep getting popped. "Get the pliers Habbib, no we don't have anesthetic, shut up and open your mouth."

432 the Passion is blamed for stirring Jew hatred, the way to look at it, is the Romans the Jews, all parts, had a function

Mel Gibson's only appearance on screen in the film was the hands nailing Jesus to the cross. "I did it" was the intended message.

435 I am confused by the people who need the brutality of Jesus' death shoved in their faces.
Posted by: bonhomme at January 16, 2025 01:23 PM (Odg76)

He Died For Us doesn't paint the full picture and has a chance of being overlooked or unappreciated in terms of the abject failure that is humanity beside the merciless grace and love of God, that's all. It even feels weird to type like it doesn't make sense. And I think that's part of the point. As I've gotten older I've become much more sensitive to blood and guts so I'm good.

436 422 I am confused by the people who need the brutality of Jesus' death shoved in their faces.

It's part of the massive influence Stoicism had on the early Church. Whatever suffering you might be enduring, temptation you might be resisting, you can remind yourself of the horror He endured on your behalf. If He can stand at the pillar and get his back ripped open, you can skip a visit to p-hub. It's also meant to be a source of courage when your own martyrdom, red or white, might be bearing down on you.

It is also a reminder of the obligations we owe Christ for grace. Sugarcoating reality is how people distance themselves from reality. One thing to avoid upsetting people in distress like using passing away instead of died when dealing with the bereaved.

It is quite another to hide the inhumanity that man often inflicts on others from adults. If more adults were forced to look at the cost of war or crime, they would not think of it so well.

Trump will often go with the least bad option because he KNOWS things change and therefore then he can change. It's not flip flopping it's strong leadership.

A quick tab over to Wiki indicated he had smoked since the age of 8 and was suffering from severe emphysema. He could hardly walk across the room. Ad to carry oxygen for a number of years.

That part, any Jewish baby being worth more than 1 million hamas slime, is certainly true and understandable.

It's the broader picture of giving in to them that upsets me.

In my view, it just puts more Jewish babies at risk, because they know they'll get what they want by taking them.
