Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition![]() Government officials have stressed that the drones reportedly sighted since mid-November pose no immediate threat, and do not appear to be part of any attack. One military official speaking on background said that if intelligence analysis had shown the aerial objects were foreign or military in nature, the military could bring sophisticated sensors and weapons to bear. In February, U.S. Northern Command dispatched an Air Force F-22 to down a Chinese spy balloon over the United States. But the FBI is in charge of the more recent incursions—suggesting that U.S. agencies suspect a domestic cause. If there is no risk from these supposed drones, then why even discuss shooting them down? But on what data are you basing your claim that there is no risk? The incredible fiasco of the Chinese spy balloon does not fill me with confidence that our military knows what the hell is going on. The damned thing flew (or drifted) across the entire country, and THEN they shot it down? Was that stupidity? By plan? Either one is damning. But the reflexive nonsense is guaranteed to make most people just a little bit suspicious. "We have no idea what is going on, but we are confident that there is no threat." That tells me that A) the speaker is an idiot, or B) the speaker is lying. Of course this is the Biden administration, so it is entirely possible that both A and B hold true. As for having the technology to down drones? Sure...maybe it works. Maybe it doesn't. The Russians seem to be having a tough time with Ukrainian drones, and that is a war! But if we really do have the technology, then why not trot it out around a few major airports that have issues with drones being flown too close. Shoot the f*ckers down. The excuse that Congress must authorize that sort of stuff is arrant nonsense. When was the last time our federal law enforcement services gave a rat's ass about the law? And that makes me think that they really are hiding something! [Crossposted at CutJibNewsletter] Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Hello!
I'll reiterate what I posted in the previous thread. I own and fly UAVs. The FAA has absolute authority over where I may operate. I must register the UAV as it's over a certain weight, and I must comply with FAA rules (no flying over/near airports, altitude restrictions, etc etc). In some cases the registration ID is broadcast from the UAV. The regs are also built into the control systems, so even if I *wanted* to fly at night, the system just won't allow me to do it unless I get a waiver from a request sent directly to the FAA and enter the authorization into my controls. Now it's certainly possible to have an unregistered UAV. That said, if I were to fly said UAV over, say, a military base then area denial protocols would certainly be deployed. There's the registration piece, but even if there weren't it wouldn't take much to find me...I have to be relatively close to fly the thing. Triangulation of the signal would be trivial. My practical experience here is screaming at me that the government knows a HELL of a lot more than it's letting on. Basically, FAA treats UAVs as manned aircraft in many instances... Posted by: tubal at December 19, 2024 11:19 AM (PCK5/) 91
The drones are almost certainly ours. And it's almost certainly routine testing.
As you mention: The scary possibility IS that they're ours, operational, and they're looking for something. As to shooting them down: that's not hard, but when you shoot something down it does raise the distinct possibility that it will fall on something or someone in a flaming pile of lawsuits. So until the drones actually DO something obviously destructive,... you observe. If they aren't ours, you can learn something from what your adversary is looking at. As to announcing things to the press: As long as the punters are wetting their panties about ET, then they're not asking questions that actually matter. Obviously, when you planted, you anticipated a crop. When you went to war, you anticipated the possibility of injury or death. This is not the same as the concept of the future. Even with the tarot, they were trying to divine what was going on (unseen) in the present, not an outcome. The idea of the future is something we were TAUGHT. That we are on a linear continuum, and that time travel is possible (at least theoretically). Posted by: Miley, okravangelist at December 19, 2024 *** Perhaps they meant that people in the far past assumed the future would be more or less like the present. The way life was lived in their great-grandfathers' day was pretty much the way they lived in the present; fair, they thought, to assume it would be that way for a very long time. As technology (trains, airplanes, telephones) began to change the present, the idea that the future might also change within one human lifetime, or less, began to be accepted. I think the drones are being used to vacuum up data from devices like cell phones, WiFi hotspots and home routers, bank card readers, security systems, vehicles with GPS/WiFi and/or connectivity to services like satellite radio or OnStar and so on.
As was mentioned above, I think it's more likely this is a government (ours) test to determine the extent to which fleets of drones could shut down comms on the East Coast. That would do a LOT more damage than just vacuuming up yet another googleplex of data. The assumption is that if we can do it, an enemy bad actor can as well. This obviously tells you why the government wouldn't want to advertise the results. Posted by: Archimedes at December 19, 2024 11:21 AM (xCA6C) 101

It's true that people in the Middle Ages, even the renaissance, did not see the ancient past as "another country," but as part of a continuum. In a lot of ways, we could learn from that.

Another consideration about those drones...
Several Chinese "spy balloons" were allowed to traverse the US. They loitered around sensitive military installations, sometimes for days. This administration did nothing. But, I bet they knew China dispatched them and I bet they knew what for. Because China told them. And the junta was fine with it. Or was being blackmailed. Or both. The intelligence game played between superpowers, the spying and all that, is sometimes obscure. Like allowing another country to fly intelligence gathering planes over your territory to calm fears you're preparing to nuke someone tomorrow. The US used to participate in just such a program. It was called "Open Skies." Until the advent of satellites and the ability to observe earth at detail... this was how countries assured each other they weren't going to attack someone. These drones could very well be "allowed" to monitor something that was of concern to another country. Obviously the feds are not disclosing what that might be. Now, the GA GOP has painted a target on its own back. This is smartness. Posted by: TheJamesMadison ======= The GA GOP is essentially like the Arizona GOP and for the same reasons. Both are GOPe strongholds and I suspect it is related to opposing to border control. Both AZ and GA are human and drug trafficking hotspots in the nation (Hartsfield Airport in ATL for GA--Border for AZ) and GA Chamber of Commerce has strong interests in pushing the China trade coming into Savannah port and the multi national corporate class around Atlanta has a lot of ties (like the GA SoS Ratshitburger) to China, personal and financial. Where did Biden’s 2020 voters and their votes go in 2024? We know they didn’t go to third-party candidates, because the totals for third-party candidates declined 656,000 in 2024, from 2,272,500 in 2020 to 1,616,600 (all numbers are rounded).

The best story about the drones that I have heard so far is that the drones belong to an unnamed US alphabet agency. the drones are being used to search for a WMD smuggled into the country by unfriendly powers yet to be revealed. The government is downplaying things to prevent people from wigging out.
I find this completely implausible, unless - it is actually yet another “unnamed alphabet agency” that smuggled the WMD. This I find, in principle, now completely plausible. It sort of looks like Nobody in government knows what the F is going on, because in many cases, they don’t know what the F is going on. And the ones that do ain’t talkin’. Like the murder of JFK, a vacuum of information, cover-ups, these absences leave plenty of room for BS narratives. The Mayors need to come out united - and declare UNEQUIVOCALLY that they will not let these Drone incursions thwart our efforts at Diversity or Fine Tuning the Weather 100 Years from Now. Priorities. The White House intentionally hid from the public Joe Biden's rapidly diminishing mental condition for his entire presidency, according to a bombshell report.
Biden's team hired a vocal coach, put other officials into roles usually occupied by the president, scrapped meetings on his 'bad days,' and avoided calls with other politicians, according to an explosive report in The Wall Street Journal. It exposed an extensive and deliberate cover-up that also saw the administration gaslighting those who dared to claim Biden's abilities had deteriorated since he was Barack Obama's vice president. Despite the efforts of aides Biden's decline became increasingly obvious, especially after Special Counsel Robert Hur last year released a report depicting a forgetful and frail then-81-year-old. I find this completely implausible, unless - it is actually yet another “unnamed alphabet agency” that smuggled the WMD. This I find, in principle, now completely plausible.

310 The White House intentionally hid from the public Joe Biden's rapidly diminishing mental condition for his entire presidency, according to a bombshell report.
There are three known reasons why the Bermuda Triangle is dangerous to aerial and nautical navigation.
1. It's tropical storm alley. Travel through there on the wrong day, at the wrong hour, and your ship or plane may encounter some serious bad weather. Bad weather enough to take down a ship as large as USS Cyclops, a fleet collier. 2. The area is known for electromagnetic anomalies. these anomalies will temporarily mess with compasses, radar, and radio comms operation. The term "temporarily" takes on a different meaning when not in sight of land, with no nearby craft to use as a comparison. 3. Piracy in the Caribbean Sea didn't end in the 18th century. These days it's often associated with drug smuggling, but piracy on the high seas does happen. In this case, the missing vessels are (sometimes) found, but their crew, passengers, and assorted valuables are missing. Posted by: exdem13 FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT at December 19, 2024 12:16 PM (XjTSo) 348
