Saturday Classical Coffee Break & Prayer Revival

day without coffee.jpg

Good morning Morons. Hasn't November been a wonderful month?!?!

Before we get going. Just a few housekeeping matters to go over. (Rulz for those of you in Arroyo Sacco)

1. This is an open thread. Feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate away.
2. Be nice, be kind. And for Heaven's sake, no jumping on the furniture.
3. Running with sharp objects can be harmful and/or fatal. Yes, we will laugh.
4. Have a great weekend.
5. Happy Thanksgiving this upcoming Thursday.

Coffee break material................

The Saturday Joke

A new grocery store super-center opened up by my house.

It has an automatic water system to keep the produce fresh. Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of distant thunder and the smell of fresh rain.

When you go to the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and experience the scent of freshly mowed hay.

When you approach the egg cases, you hear chickens clucking and the air is filled with the scent of bacon, eggs and homemade biscuits cooking.

The seafood section has a salt water tang in the air and a sound system playing the gentle splash of waves hitting the beach.

The veggie aisle features the smell of freshly roasted, buttered corn.

I don't buy toilet paper there anymore. (H/T Hrothgar)

Nice kitty said our Genius Award Winner.

THIS is the shocking moment a pet lion savages a man who was trying to snap a selfie with it, ripping into him with its huge jaws.

The brutal attack happened just outside the beast’s cage in Pakistan when the young man got too close with a camera.

Last but not least is our Prayer Revival.

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

10/7 – Piper requested prayers for her stepfather, who fell and broke his wrist. He will need surgery to put a plate in. He is in a lot of pain.
11/2 Update – Piper’s stepfather’s surgery went well and he is in PT.

10/24 – B requested prayers for a friend (age 43) who is having heart and lung problems. He had to take “the shot” for work, so B is concerned about what that might mean.
11/6 Update – The friend does have cancer. He was given less than 12 months to live. Prayers for his family (his wife and 4 daughters, ages 6 – 14) are very much appreciated.

10/25 – Mental Block requests prayers as his prostate cancer journey transitions from active surveillance to deciding between two treatment options: a prostatectomy or 6 weeks of radiation combined with hormone therapy. Treatment will begin by mid-December.
11/21 Update – Mental Block started six months of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) which stops his body from producing testosterone. He starts radiation therapy on 12/4, which will be 5 days per week for 6 weeks.

10/26 – Teresa in Fort Worth asked for prayers. She got some troubling and totally unexpected medical news on 10/25, and is being referred to an oncologist to see where she goes from here. She said she is freaking out because this wasn’t even on the radar. It was found while being tested for something completely unrelated.
11/8 Update - It turned out to be bile duct cancer, which has locally metastasized into the liver. The plan is for 3 rounds of chemo starting after Thanksgiving, and then surgery in February or March. This is a rare cancer (8000 cases/year), and aggressive (5 year survival rate of 2-3%). Teresa plans to fight as hard as she can, but this is the situation. She appreciates the thoughts and prayers.
11/16 Update – She had a port installed, which helps avoid needles. She still doesn’t feel sick.
11/19 Update – She saw the oncologist. Without treatment, she might live 6 months. With chemo and surgery, she might make it 12 months. Maybe longer if she’s lucky. She’s eating all the desserts and buying all the yarn she can in the meantime.

10/27 – Jim Sunk New Dawn posted an update. He was feeling poorly at the TxMoMe. Aviator (a neurosurgeon) and Nurse Ratchet visited with him for a while, and the doctor gave him a “look over”. He insisted that Jim visit his local ER first thing on Monday. He did so, and was in the hospital until Thursday. Jim was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). He has a 3-5 year life expectancy. He appreciates a raft of Horde Prayers – y’all is the Best Horde EVER!

10/31 – Nan in AZ is thankful for all the prayers; she got good news from the cardiologist this week that after the heart attack and hospitalization in July, and 3 stents, the ejection fraction is back to normal and the external defibrillator has been discontinued. She has to follow up in 4 months, and will be able to resume full function and work, caring for her 84 year old mom. Good is good!

11/2 – FB asked for prayers for his friend, Jeff, who was just diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He started chemo this week. They’ve been friends for over 30 years; their daughters grew up together, and Jeff is the best fly fisherman FB ever met. Please pray that they can fish the spring steelhead run together.

11/2 - Farmer Bob requested prayers. His older sister is suffering, as her son with autism is hospitalized in a medically induced coma, fighting sepsis from a skin lesion. Her grandson, whom she has raised, has significant medical issues which required a liver transplant. His father has descended into the madness of radical transgenderism. Farmer Bob’ s younger sister is a substance abuser whose behavior has alienated her from the family. Please pray for them, too.

11/2 – J.J. Sefton posted that his latest MRI came back negative. It looks like he has a good shot at beating the odds and stats for glioblastoma. He sends his thanks for the prayers, and he sends prayers, too, for all those who are suffering.

11/2 – Stateless’ 88 year old mother, who had been doing well, has pain in her side after eating. If she lays down, it goes away. She has been treated for diverticulitis using antibiotics, but that has not helped. They are also trying changes to her diet: probiotics, yogurt, etc. They will bring her to ER for a CT scan if needed.

11/6 – Morgan, loyal lurker, is postponing his employment decisions until the new year. He asks that God reveal His will for him, and what direction He wants him to take. He also asks for blessings on Misanthropic Humanitarian for all his efforts on the ONT and his well-deserved retirement.

11/8 – Jim in Kalifornia could use prayers. He was scheduled for laparoscopic surgery to clean abscess(es) and add drain.
11/16 Update – Jim was released from the hospital on 11/12. He still has the drain, is on 2 antibiotics and an antifungal for another 12 days. His anti-rejection regimen was reduced to allow him to fight the infection(s), but at a potential risk to the transplanted kidney.

11/8 – Ron asked for prayers for his mother, who lost her vision and also fell. They are hoping for a medical procedure in the near future to restore (some of) her vision, and that the fall didn’t injure her too badly.

11/9 – SD requested prayers for her husband, whose kidney function is declining. They had a scare when an ultrasound suggested a mass on his right kidney, but thanks be to God, the CT scan said it was no mass, just an irregularly rotated lobe of his kidney. He sees a nephrologist on 12/3.

11/9 – tbodie Lurker sent thanks for the prayers. Tbodie had follow-up surgery on 11/6, and it went well.

11/10 – Farmer asked for prayers for Julie, who went to ER and almost died. She had “septic shock with multi organ failure secondary to perforated gastric ulcer with kidney and liver failure”.
11/16 Update – Julie was taken off the ventilator for 3 hours. Her eyes were open and got real wide when she saw him. So she is still there and coming back, slowly but surely.

11/13 – NR Pax requests prayers for his friend’s family. They have to sell their home and move because the local drug dealers have been making escalating threats to them.

11/13 – R asked for prayers for his mother. She lost her vision and she fell. They are hopeful that a medical procedure will soon restore some of her vision, and that the fall did not injure her too badly.

11/13 – Nightwatch needs prayers. His sister Kathleen suffered a massive stroke and is in the ICU. This news was given to him 2 hours after he got home from his wife’s aunt’s burial, and a week after the untimely passing of his nephew at age 34.

11/15 – Pooky’s Girl asked for prayers for Lil Pooky’s possible abdominal hernia.
11/19 Update – His hernia is pretty minor and can be fixed laproscopically with a single stitch. Surgery will be in mid-January. Please pray that Lil Pooky will have minimal discomfort until then.

11/15 – Notorious BFD asked for prayers from those so inclined, after Notorious BFD’s brother-in-law passed away unexpectedly.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

If you saw all of the Karate Kid movies, you'll probably enjoy Cobra Kai.

They're pretty good at bringing back previous villains and allies. It's in its last season and about 5 episodes away from ending. The strain is showing in the effort to come to a grand finale involving everyone, all heroes and villains alike, but eh, you've come this far why not finish?

CK is basically a kind of soap opera with lots of fighting. I've enjoyed it as light entertainment. It's so far been the best attempt to resurrect a dead franchise that I've seen.

BONUS! No woke nonsense beyond some grrrl power stuff.
DOUBLE BONUS!! Everyone gets the stuffing beat outta them and some point.

Check it out.

Prayers up even for all "our" politicians who have decided that the 10% graft and power are far more desirable than honor or integrity, may they see the error of their ways and repent!

And lastly, prayers up for our future President Trump, keep him safe from harm and may the many forces of corruption and evil arrayed against both him and our country be made ineffective and come to naught!

46
So. December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a First Class Feast which is a Holy Day of Obligation for us snappers. This year, it falls on a Sunday, which is also the Second Sunday of Advent, also a First Class Feast. So, if you go to Mass on Sunday, you've taken care of both obligations, right?

No. Or, sort of. Or, maybe. In the pre-Vatican II calendar, you have. But in the post-Vatican II calendar, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is moved to Monday the 9th and the obligation remains. So you have to attend Mass both on Sunday and Monday. Or, I think, unless you attend a Traditional Latin Mass. Or if there's a dispensation. My own diocese (Galveston-Houston) has the dispensation. But most don't. So, if you're serious about this kind of thing, you'd best check.

So after two weeks back on the weekly thread, I have to say that the black pill crowd is really annoying.

We have received what can only be called a miraculous deliverance from the powers of darkness, a wickedness so profound that they did not even bother to conceal their infernal allegiances.

Our response to this generational blessing should be gratitude and joy. I don't know about the rest of you, but at odd moments in the day I just feel such an upwelling of happiness and relief. I sleep better, laugh more, and pray with great calmness.

We must not be complacent. The prayers we added must be maintained and even reinforced. Let us continue to look at new ways to praise God and spread the Gospels, not whine about people you never heard of ten minutes ago but are now irreplaceable.

Catholic Church related: our youngest grandson (aged 13) has gone through the Rite of Entrance and Acceptance, and is officially a Catechumen. He is on-track to receive the sacraments on Easter Vigil 2025.

His mother (our daughter) fell-away from the Church, but his parents are believers. His parents are not opposed (which is a blessing). They have been attending the catechism classes along with him. Perhaps this is God's way of directing our grandson's parents to the Catholic Church: they had been going to a Baptist church for a number of years, but left when the preacher told our daughter that her Catholic baptism was not acceptable and began bad-mouthing Catholics.

Our grandson asked to become Catholic immediately after this Easter (he regularly goes to Mass with us). Naturally, Mrs. Cop and I are very excited for him. He's a very perceptive teenager and all of the youth ministers have been very impressed with him. He'd picked up a lot by osmosis and the informal teaching that I had been giving him.

61 It’s amazing and reassuring to see Trump's cabinet picks already designated so fully - last time he didn’t get them all lined up til after he was inaugurated. Not all of the picks are great, but most are, and the lower level appointments don’t matter too much as long as they’re loyal.

The funny part, was that while guys often interested with the punchline, women seemed to enjoy the loaded pause.

By the way, while people say my feet are small, I think they're fine. Just long enough to reach the ground.

66 When the Democrat/Left now refers to its "base" it means the Wokists, academic radicals and assorted credentialed class, career bureaucrats, safety-obsessed wine moms and illegal immigrants, when in fact their true historic base of average underclass Americans and blue collar workers have been completely abandoned. The beauty of this degeneration is that it appears irreversible. The Left has finally collapsed into itself, its swirling sinkhole of rage and fanaticism, and it cannot climb out.

72 So after two weeks back on the weekly thread, I have to say that the black pill crowd is really annoying.

74 No.

91 I believe there is a new optimism in many people. You can feel it and see it. It is a relief from what people intuitively knew was a bad situation coming. The average person understood this election was almost an existential event, which would set the course for further demise or a renewal. They realized we were going in the wrong direction and needed to course correct. Now we have received what can only be seen as a blessing. There is a tremendous opportunity that God has provided us to restore the fundamental goodness, liberty and promise this nation was founded on. It will not be easy and we must remain vigilant. The battle has been one but the enemy is relentless. I pray for our collective success and a better future for our country. There is a new, profound and growing optimism that better day are ahead. Together, with the continued help of God, we can all make that vision reality.

When she was wrapping-up the meeting, she asked him what he was looking for in following Jesus Christ. He got a sort of expression on his face like he was thinking, Why is she asking me such a basic question?, and replied, "Eternal life." I get chills every time I think of it.

132 Long drawn out comment which will require some effort on my mentally challenged Galaxy S10. Above all this is a praise of the one true God. One more instance of God's presence in my life and the realization that He is still working on my prideful, corrupt heart. A week ago Thursday, my two year old grandson and I were in the local village putting up more posters trying to find good homes for the remaining 2 puppies. I was talking to a young lady, daughter of some long time friends who owns a coffee shop. A gentleman walked up and gave her a wallet found on the sidewalk. My wallet. I had a hole in one of the cargo pockets. Big relief. God taking care of the trivial. I left and put my grandson in his car seat. Just as I was stepping down from the running board there was a loud bang and something hit me in the cheek. A truck pulled over about 100 feet down the road and then they took off and turned on the first side street. I realized they had hit my open car door and I had narrowly missed getting squished. I flipped out, jumped in my car and took off after them. I circled the blockand realized they had also as they pulled into the same spot they had originally stopped at.

While at JAX, I had a pilot from a west coast squadron, who was flying on his way back make an emergency landing for a dental emergency.

He had broken a virgin tooth straight down the middle front to back and was in pain.

I asked him how the heck that had happened. He said he was getting divorced and had been thinking about it while flying and gritted his teeth so hard it broke.

I extracted it for him (no way to save the tooth) and he went on his merry way to California.

149 Optimus purchased Svea, that’s when they introduced the self-cleaning internal “pricking wire” to clean the metering jet. If you happened to lose the included jet pricker, and the jet clogged, you had a problem.

But the slef-cleaning feature meant no real flame adjustment was possible. They are mostly good for boiling water, so not a huge deal. They are lovely when all spiffied up and polished.

Politicians hire media consultants from the media, so their media exposure is tailored to the media model to make sure it integrates in well. You can see the reason why this sucks for a candidate that is not in alignment with the Left-captured media.
The media has been getting sclerotic in the meantime since they don't have to do anything but "open their mouth and get stuffed like baby birds" instead of actually work at reporting.

Trump's ability is that he has been doing his own guerrilla marketing for 40 years and ties the media into knots

One pilot was showboating in Pago Pago for an upcoming airshow and inadvertently flew under a cable for a tram, shearing off the plane's vertical stabilizer and crashing into a hotel.

Only pilot landed so hard at an outlying field that the aircraft was declared a strike (complete loss).

During an ASW training exercise over the Pacific, just off the coast of San Diego, two squadron aircraft collided killing 27.

The labor pick was interesting, not really a player in Oregon politics, and certainly not tied in with the unions here, and very much a local girl. She must have been a recommendation from someone.

I was saying yesterday that the last three notable Oregonians on the federal level were Bob Packwood, Herbert Hoover and Willis Hawley. (You can say "who?" now)
I wonder if Trump is trying to spread things out to states that normally don't have much input to the federal side, and broaden both the voting and personnel base for the future.

I 'm not sure of all that I said except that it was not complimentary. We were standing in the street. I literally, physically felt a hand on my shoulder and heard " my grace and mercy have been given to you, time and time again. Have you learned nothing?" It stopped me in my tracks. I started apologizing for my anger and led her off the street. I told her I thought she was trying to run and she admitted she was at first. She was profusely apologizing and I told her, I'm twice your age and probably have ten times as many mistakes under my belt. God has extended His mercy and grace to me so many times I have lost count so I I need to start practicing that in my own life. She seemed overwhelming by my change in attitude. I took the time to tell her a RD version of giving my life to Christ. She wanted to know about any damage to my car and I showed a small paint chip and explained that this was my $700 blessing. Her truck mirror was going to cost her. I hugged her and asked her to accept God's presence in our lives.

Deus Vult!

I had a similar vibe during the Cotton Bowl. I'd been dreadfully sick, fever, nausea, so I settled down to watch the game sipping ice water and eating dry toast. And MSU got pounded for three quarters of the game, Baylor even giving a lineman the ball just so he could have a career touchdown.

I sat there wrapped in abject misery and was about to turn the TV off and then said: "No, this is some high-quality penance. I'm going to lie here and suffer."

And then MSU rallied. It was amazing. And yeah, I prayed because I'd seen Mark Dantonio at Mass and thought: "He really is a good man, he deserves to win." So it he did.

I had a beer to celebrate and did not throw it up, which was great.

Depending on the neighborhood and where they're located-

I've been starting to see older folk doing their driving in golf carts.

Not sure if that's a solution for your driving with glaucoma(?) woes, but it's hard to do much damage in a golf cart.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with vision. That's tough. God bless you and help you find a cure if there's one or peace if there isn't.

205 My working hypothesis is that some of the brand name coffees are de-caffeinated or at least reduced caffeine. I recently bought a “house brand” coffee that is clearly not part of the program. Very reminiscent of good old bell ringer diner coffee.

Arabica (1.1% caffeine) vs Robusta (2.7% caffeine) by weight.

Arabica, or even better, Geisha, is a variety that is preferred by coffee connoisseurs, Robusta is a crappy tasting coffee for Philistines who don't want to take those "pep pills" available at the counter of most 7/elevens.

208 (3/3) I don't need evidence of God watching over my loved ones and I. That is abundantly clear. I'm sure His purpose in that was multi-dimensional , but His main goal was for me to step back and look critically at the anger I carry in my heart for what I think are stupid people who walk this earth. He's still working on the pride I can't seem to overcome. I'm sure He may have been trying to impress her that driving and texting, she admitted to that, was not a wise move but I think my pride was His primary concern. I feel very humbled.

That's the thing - miracles have a 'blast radius.' Your situation in the immediate moment was affected. You both - and bystanders - will also feel the lingering affect. And now you are sharing with us, and we will think about it, and tell others.

The purpose of miracles goes beyond that immediate moment. Miraculous healing isn't a reward for an individual, it is a sign for all to see. That same with your intervention.

The thing about the black pill crowd is that if things really are as awful, foreordained, doomed, etc., we'd already be at war. Trump would have been killed, the Secret Service would have been blamed, and armies would be mustering even as I type this. But the worst doesn't always happen, and there is a reason for that.

238 Good morning, Horde!!!!

Thank you for all of the prayers - they are truly appreciated.

I start chemo the Monday after Thanksgiving, and will now be doing 6 cycles (instead of the original 3) per the recommendation of the Oncology Surgeon. No idea if that will shrink the tumor enough to take it out. All of Segment 8 of the liver - the hardest one to resect (of course!) - will be removed, if possible. I still don't feel sick, so I am trying to enjoy the last days of feeling "normal" before I start getting poison injected into my body.

In the meantime, we will be traveling down to Galveston in April to visit my BFF and her family and to see The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain in concert - a bucket list item of mine. Should be a lot of fun!

The one thing that this blasted diagnosis has given me is the gift of time. Both daughters will be spending several days with us at Christmas. We plan on doing lots of hugging, we will probably try and catch a movie, we will be making my famous Spaghetti and Meatballs, and the girls have agreed to sit as close to my lap as possible so that I can finally read "The Littlest Angel" to them. Yes, akin to the chestnut that poor people just don't try hard enough, bootstrap up, etc. Is it Calvinist? Feels like Calvinism - the Elect are doing well because they're the elect and you lot, well, try harder. I'll give you some charity, but that's to show how good I am, you don't really deserve it.

Yard Sign Calvinists have sympathy for the poor, but not enough to do anything practical or examine whether their programs actually work (they don't, they're most there to offer admin jobs to gentry liberals).

The campaign sings have mostly disappeared, but the "We Believe" signs are back.

The reason they suck is because they use stale beans.

Rule of Fifteen:
15 months from the day the beans are harvested
15 days since the beans are roasted
15 minutes after the beans have been ground

After 15, the beans are stale and will taste like ass. Your only hope after then is to cold brew - a process that makes ass palatable without losing the caffeine.

265 Yes, akin to the chestnut that poor people just don't try hard enough, bootstrap up, etc. Is it Calvinist? Feels like Calvinism - the Elect are doing well because they're the elect and you lot, well, try harder. I'll give you some charity, but that's to show how good I am, you don't really deserve it.

Enough of the libel.

Calvinism has far more to do with the Doctrines of Grace rather than any expressed work ethic.

Proverbs (which preceded Calvin) talks about the relationship with industry and prosperity vs sloth and poverty.

276 Mamet on the last four years:
Ane existential secret is one whose revelation would the group. If the dad is a drug addict. . . acknowledging it would shatter the family. The protection of the secret becomes the family's unifying endeavor. If anyone says anything, it might reveal that everyone is in on the secret. The sick family devotes all necessary energies to collusion -- to mutual and self-censorship.
. . .
To remain unthreatened by reason, the liberal populace had to be convinced to endorse the various lies and fantasies: BLM, Israel's perfidy, unlimited abortion as a woman's right, men's right to compete in women's sports, the abolition of the police, Mr. Trump's demonic power and so on.

Why would rational people vote to destroy the borders, their cities, their jobs and their children? For the same reason the sick family must tolerate its dysfunction: the co-opted liberal electorate was terrified that any deviation would result in destruction of its protective unit. As it would.

Upon waking the oral surgeon would tell me what was accomplished, he knew I liked to know. Once I was getting ready to be put in the car by my wife and I hadn’t heard a thing, was a bit put out. So I had them send for him before I left; and he said “we had a full conversation about this 15 minutes ago, don’t you remember?” Ummm… sorry I don’t. Hadn’t before had the experience of being awake and talking, by all accounts, with absolutely no conscious awareness or memory of it.

His elevation as an avatar of reason is peak liberal bigotry. There have been many black scientists going back decades, but he's held up as "see, black people are smart" avatar because white liberals need to feel good about themselves.

Pace Mamet, it's fascinating to see just how much they have to distort reality for their positions to make any sort of sense. My father is a committed Maddow fan, MSNBC is usually in the background when I call him.

He's otherwise grounded, but man, his politics are weird. Last week we talked quite a bit and I finally asked him about his faith. I knew he was raised Methodist and rejected it vehemently, but what he he stand *for*? Turns out, he's a Unitarian, which explains a lot.

Hallmark went off the rails when it replaced its longtime white male CEO with a woke female who checked all the right boxes.

Its viewership promptly cratered as the audience decamped to American Family, which was solidly non-woke. Even worse for Hallmark, AF was started by Hallmark defectors who seemed to take all the talent with them when they left.

Hallmark shit-canned its activist CEO maybe a year ago, supposedly to try to steer the brand back to producing shows its audience actually want to watch.

I have no idea how that plan went.

336 Oh, and yesterday we interviewed a wonderful woman who is going to be Rebecca's attendant. As a bonus, she will also be looking out for me. She doesn't want to sit on the couch, she likes to cook, and she has been through chemotherapy herself, so she knows what I will be going through. Her daughter will be her back-up, so we don't have to worry about any days without a helper going forward.

Rebecca gets an attendant through a Medicaid program that she qualifies for independent of our income; we had already decided to match the hourly amount that the government pays those workers if we found a good one. And boy, did we luck out with this lady!

Best of all, the agency that oversees Rebecca's case is the one who recommended this lady - she has worked for them for quite a while and was looking for a more permanent placement.
The lady at the agency recently lost her brother to the sams kind of cancer that I have, so she wanted to be sure that we would be well taken care of both now and in the future ♥️.

She will start the Monday after Thanksgiving - which is also the date of my first chemo treatment - and can be here 6 days a week.

What a blessing for our entire family 😊♥️

Haven't watched the link yet, but. . . Hallmark has gone woke. Gay characters fairly regularly, and even some gay romance leads...

The thing I'm watching for since it was called to my attention is how key cheating/infidelity is to rom-coms focused at women.

We're teaching our daughters very, very bad lessons, and probably have been for a couple of generations. It's not hard to figure out part of why relationships are where they are.

As for me, I try to be left of bang and have backups at the ready when things ultimately fail. (yet another backup is alleged to show up tomorrow).

My 40" 4k computer monitor, which I have had for many years was showing signs of imminent failure, so through the miracle of Amazon I ordered a Samsung replacement. Beautiful replacement but it can't handle 30Hz from my ancient laptop (which the current monitor can do). Ordered the Dell 43", its sitting in the foyer. Now to decide to wait for failure or just go ahead and perform the swap now.

And their tickets were floor seats which I checked were going for $3-4k per ticket.

It’s mind boggling. But she makes very good money so whatever.

And to be fair, dudes will do this for a playoff football game. A TayTay concert is the superbowl for women. Once ina lifetime thing, so cost is no issue.

My response to that is to flip the Pete Buttigieg joke: when was the last time anyone could name the labor secretary? It's not that important, and unlike transportation there's not much chance of a giant shitshow (let alone multiple ones) erupting from that office.
