Last Night I Saw Upon The Stair, An ONT That Wasn't There

Evening Horde! We're getting close to Halloween, here's a Halloween challenge:

Movies.jfif

The Boss

The Cult of Bruce (and Why I'm Not a Member)

That fact actually hit me. Bruce ain’t blue collar and he ain’t USA, USA. He is in fact the opposite and that is a baffling contradiction.

There is a disconnect between what Bruce represents to many of his fans and to what he really is.

That fact only brought the fraud of his narrative back to me as to why I never got him.

Oh yeah, before I forget, I don’t like his voice. At all.

It actually makes me cringe when I hear it.

Jay Jay French is also kinda an asshole, but the article is entertaining. Frankly, I've always thought of Bruce as Temu Bob Segar. Segar is everything that Springsteen wants to be and isn't, and it's not particularly close.

Banana Republic

Jack Smith’s October Surprise

Remember, Smith begged the Judge to flip the rules on their head so he could file this document first, and quickly – “any action,” by any reasonable definition – with the election right around the corner. Anyone who objected to James Comey’s outrageous announcements about the Hillary Clinton email investigation on the eve of the 2016 election should feel the same about Smith’s conduct now. What’s the distinction? Both violated ordinary procedure to take public steps, shortly before an election, that plainly would have an impact on that election.
,
I’m going to hand this one over to one of DOJ’s most esteemed alums, who explained it this way to the Justice Department’s internal watchdog: “To me if it [an election] were 90 days off, and you think it has a significant chance of impacting an election, unless there’s a reason you need to take that action now, you don’t do it.”
,
Those words were spoken by Sally Yates – former Deputy Attorney General, venerated career prosecutor, no fan of Trump (who unceremoniously fired her in 2017), and liberal folk hero. As usual, Yates is spot-on. And her explanation conveys this indelible truth: if prosecutors bend their principles depending on the identity of their prey, then they’ve got no principles at all.

The entire DOJ needs to be burned to the ground.

Let Anyone In. What's The Worst That Could Happen?

Five people arrested with incendiary material near Côte-St-Luc synagogue

Montreal police say they have arrested five people, including three minors, who were found with incendiary material early Wednesday morning and are investigating whether their motive may have been linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

The city of Côte-St-Luc said in a statement that one of its public security officers observed a vehicle with suspicious occupants parked near a synagogue early Wednesday morning and called police.

Montreal police say they received that call shortly after 2 a.m. and stopped a suspect vehicle near the corner of Kildare Rd. and Cavendish Blvd.

Inside the vehicle, police say they found incendiary material. The two occupants, ages 20 and 22, were arrested.

Côte-St-Luc said what it described as a “suspicious item” was later found near the synagogue on Mackle Rd.

This is Canada, but we are running the same risk down here. Question: If there was an October 7 style attack down here, would it improve Trump's chances of winning or hurt them? I believe it would improve them, and am almost convinced that that's why it hasn't happened yet,a la Kurt Schlicter's book The Attack. After the election though? I'm worried.

Former Houston Drug Cop Gets 60 Years for His Deadly Lies

Gerald Goines, the mendacious former Houston narcotics officer who had a habit of framing drug suspects, received two concurrent 60-year prison sentences on Tuesday for causing the deaths of Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas, who were killed during a 2019 raid that Goines instigated by falsely accusing them of selling heroin. Since Goines is 60 years old and won't be eligible for parole until he serves half of his prison term, the penalty probably amounts to a life sentence.

"This is historic because we believe this is the first-ever murder conviction of a Houston-area law enforcement officer [for a crime] committed while in uniform," said Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg. The reason such verdicts have been so hard to obtain, she explained, is that "people want to believe in the police—that's who we're trained to trust from the time we're little."

Good. He deserves to die in jail.

Russia's Most Advanced Stealth Fighter Is in Serious Trouble

Russia, on the other hand, is flying nowhere fast with its own stealth fighter, the oft-delayed Su-57 (NATO reporting name, "Felon"). Production of the 5th-generation stealth air superiority jet has reportedly been "all but crippled" by Western sanctions on Russia's technology sector, according to a report this week in the UK Telegraph.

"Sanctions put into place by Western governments in the 31 months since Russia widened its war on Ukraine have throttled the supply of this critical hardware," military analyst David Axe reported. "As a result, 'production of the Su-57 is in jeopardy,' Frontelligence Insight concluded."

"The delivery rate of new Su-57s has decreased sharply from 2023 to 2024," United24 reported on Wednesday, "a deviation from typical trends where delivery rates generally increase as production stabilizes."

But I wonder if sanctions tell the full story.

Guess Maverick doesn't need to worry about 5th generation fighters anymore.

Insanity

There Is a Mental Illness Crisis Among Liberals

Trump Derangement Syndrome is really just the tip of the iceberg. It is one of the most concrete examples, as is the still powerful COVID hysteria.

I understand why normal Democrats don't like Donald Trump--they have their reasons, based on their values, their general sense of how things work, and often their disgust with his character. I am not speaking of these people.

But about half of Democrats have gone insane. They identify with literal terrorists, think dressing up in furry costumes should be celebrated, imagine that rituals of men peeing on each other should occur in public, and that children should learn how to be drag queens.

They hate the world they live in, and retreat to a bizarre fantasy world in which they are the star and everybody else is a bit player.

Libs are crazy. Not news..

I went to the range today for just a 30 minute session, took the Ruger Mk II SS gummint target and the HK P30SK, determined to rid myself of the darned down-left you get when you have not learned the trigger squeeze.

And I succeeded. Ten 9mm in heart, ten 22LR in the forehead, both from 25 feet.

86 So I've been reading trashy romance-tinged space fiction for men, and found Skyler Ramirez' "Worst Ship In The Fleet". Which is good and does not feature a harem.
It features Brad Mendoza (sup, vato!) who so far is a self-loathing drunk who has screwed up his life and career in the Royal Navy - the king in this part of the galaxy is one Charles VIII but we don't meet him here.
Although Mendoza is a fuck up, he does have the virtue of humility, and is able to listen to good ideas even if he doesn't come up with them himself.
Trigger warnings apply mostly for Mendoza being a self-pitying retard who will make you want to punch him out of it, but he does have a character-arc. And, um, some rape. (Which is done by the bad guys.)

AFP; October 17, 2024 5:38 am

US President Joe Biden announced Thursday further student debt relief for public servants — amounting to around $4.5 billion — with just over two weeks to go until the presidential election.

The action affects about 60,000 borrowers across the country, said the White House, touting Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s efforts to improve loan forgiveness since taking office.

368 It is bad enough that the "Where's The Horrific Waldo" above lacks even a slight acknowledgement of German Expressionism. Fine, we shall leave Dr. Caligari in his closet and try not to think too much about what he is doing in there. But not even one allusion to Nosferatu? Not even one?

Werner is both vexed and saddened by this. Nosferatu, both the varied film incarnations and the character himself, is ours. His physical avatar Count Orlok, or the Graf Orlok, as we refer to him, is Deutsch to the core. By which, of course, Werner means that we stole him completely from Bram Stoker's wuss of Count Dracula, and made it weird, and gloried in it. It was a bare-faced heist of IP, and were the song around, we would have sung "Butt-Hurts, Butt-Hurts, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when your lawsuit falls through." In one of his more patriotic moments, Werner did his own version of Nosferatu, and made it even more weird, which is a perverse accomplishment of its own. The only film where Klaus Kinski performed without make-up, after we had spent years convincing him that he was human. A cost so high, and it gets bumped for a reference to a scary clown? A clown? Ach.

All of Trump's jokes killed - but I thought this was the best one. The "Kamala missed the event because she was receiving Dorito communion from Gretchen Whitmer" was a close second.

I watched Kamala's video which was absolutely awful. Apart from being un-funny, and dreadfully so, it was also off-putting in its weird (there's that word again) tone. Another thought: if you know you have a problem with getting the male vote why on earth did you pick Molly Shannon's mentally imbalanced Catholic schoolgirl as the skit-base for your video. Also, if you you are not showing up, own it. Sending a "film" is a bad way to try and lessen the loss of face associated with that decision. It underlines the fact that you are half-*ssing it. ("Never go half-*ssed, always go full-*ssed or not at all!"). I wouldn't be surprised if Trump's campaign "drops" it as their latest "campaign video" (btw - whoever is running Trump's campaign that came up with that approach is a genius).

Posted by: Ciampino - well they were beautiful then

This is wisdom. Werner would not reject Honor Blackman, but Dianna Rigg, mein Gott! Granted, she was no Ayn Rand, but that was a special case. How many women could boast that the combination of war paint and jungle camo the chick wore in Duran-Duran's
"Hungry Like the Wolf" video was inspired by her customary garb when she wanted to reach an Objective estimation of how much wrecking and plundering was required. Once Werner found and unloaded the esoteric firearms that she had hidden around her place of repose There were still, of course, the various blades to be ferreted out, and the buzz-saw that she would randomly release to run its unpredictable course, but that only made Werner more focused and nimble.

Ah, but Diana Rigg, four years' Werner
s junior, that was such a missed opportunity. A carefully-chosen rose of the finest scarlet with the attached note to the effect of Werner needs the Hell out of you, Mrs. Peel. Ach.

There may be a second comet visible on the morning side at the end of the month into Nov. It's a sun grazer, and it may have already broken up due to how close it gets to the sun. If it survived, it should be fairly bright.

467 If McGovern had today's Democrat fraud system in 72 he would have given Nixon a run for his money. It would have come down to a few swing state's.

468 Morning, fellow insomaniacals! 'Tis Friday, the consummation devoutly to be wished! I'll tackle the 40-movie image when I'm a little more awake. Applause to those of you who have.

I'm sipping some coffee and trying to decide if I am up to working out. It's cool out there, and I have only two sessions this week so far. But it's Friday; and I have a long-ish walk to and from my staff meeting this morning, which could count as a session. (Right? Right?)

473 I can't find this but I know I read once that someone said to Bob Dylan that Bob Seger was a poor man's Bruce Springsteen. Dylan's response: Bruce Springsteen is a rich man's Bob Seger.

That struck me as perfect.
