THE MORNING RANT: There Is a Widespread Collapse in Confidence of Federal Agencies, which is Also an Opportunity for Trump to Clean House After His Inauguration

FEMA, under the leadership of Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, has been somewhere between ineffective, absent, and adversarial in response to the devastating flooding in Appalachia. The agency is also running out of money, having diverted its budget to facilitating an invasion of illegal aliens into the US. Most shockingly, this is a surprise to almost no one.

The Secret Service seems to no longer have the capability – or inclination - to protect the Republican presidential nominee from the most obvious threats. Once unthinkable, the magnitude of this reality under Kimberly Cheatle’s highly politicized leadership is somehow not even shocking.

The Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, stated last week that she "hasn't been particularly involved" regarding the port workers strike that was impending. Of course she hadn’t been. And that surprised almost no one.

In any normal administration, the name of the Transportation Secretary would be unknown, but with repeated transportation calamities, we have come to know that Pete Buttigieg is a hapless figurehead who is completely uninformed about transportation industries and the movement of goods in this country.

I could go on and on, to include NOAA, the CDC, the FDA, NASA, the Pentagon, etc.

The core issue is that the American public no longer has any expectation that federal agencies can provide their core services, nor that the “leadership” of those agencies has any ability to run them. We understand now that those in charge are simply given these positions as political rewards, and to use those agencies to advance the greater left-wing political agenda against the establishment’s political enemies. Sadly, those political enemies include about half of the country.

I’ve started to write an essay about this several times, with the thesis being that the rot in these institutions is such that they are beyond salvaging, and that if there is any good news about the situation, it’s that this widespread collapse in confidence provides a rare opportunity for a reformer to start cleaning house. I’ll be voting for that reformer in a couple of weeks.

But I just read a couple of other great essays in the past few days, so instead, I am going to quote from those. I cannot summarize the situation any better than Jeffrey Carter and T.J. Harker did in these pieces. There is much more in their essays than I have excerpted, so I encourage you to click and read them in full.

1) Jeffrey Carter: “Total and Utter Incompetence”

Mayor Pete and the Department of Transportation are nowhere to be found. They must be working on high-speed rail while I-40 and I-26 are crumbling.

Secretary Mayorkas was predictably MIA. He stated FEMA, an agency he oversees, needs more money to handle the situation. That guy would screw up a one-car funeral. He is so incompetent.

Of course, Kamala Harris and Mayorkas spent $1B of FEMA money on illegal aliens. That fact should be particularly galling to anyone. It shows government money no matter where it is budgeted is fungible. It also shows where the priorities of people like Harris are. They aren’t with citizens of the US, but with illegals they helped come in.

It’s very clear to many, many Americans that government and institutions we used to rely on don’t have our best interests at heart, and they do not “work for citizens” anymore. They pursue their own interests, and are corrupted by the people at the top who are pursuing a far different agenda than what was originally intended by both government and private non-profit institutions. Hence, they are indeed rational in voting against them.

I think Americans will be amazed at how competent the government can be if they vote the Democrats out. This assumes that Trump and the Republicans go full-on Argentina Mileil and cut the chaff out of government. Trump has asked Elon Musk to do it, and he said he would.

Musk eliminated 80% of the jobs at X and it’s better run and a better site. Musk rescued astronauts in space when big government couldn’t do it. Musk got the internet to Appalachia and is saving lives post-hurricane, and the government can’t.

Seems like he knows how to execute. Clearly, Kamala and her political party cannot.

2) T.J. Harker: “The Mediocre Men”

For decades, our ruling elite have been hard at work destroying the foundations of Western Civilization.

The list of things they “own” is long, but certainly includes gutting American culture, normalizing perversion, losing wars, dumbing down education, offshoring our manufacturing base, bankrupting the treasury, adulterating our food, opening our borders, debasing the dollar, impoverishing our citizenry, indoctrinating our children, pursuing social pipe dreams, immiserating blacks, collapsing our legal institutions, mocking empirical science, and ridiculing our history.

At the same time, this ruling elite celebrates itself in the smug self-confidence that its Herculean efforts have brought us to the doorstep of a carbon-free, social-justice utopia. In reality, however, it has foisted upon America an intergenerational catastrophe of biblical proportions. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, never in human history have so few squandered so much on behalf of so many.

Invariably, the mandarin servants are unimpressive people with bland personalities and tiresome thoughts. They are masters of “failing upward” by being just bright enough to grasp the career advancement opportunities available to those who agree to parrot embarrassingly stupid leftist tropes. At the same time, they are not bright enough to formulate anything resembling a real thought or to demonstrate any real skill by which they might distinguish themselves or, you know, contribute to our civilization. They are one of the many symbols of our decadent and dying culture.

Thank you Jeffrey Carter and T.J. Harker.

I’ll conclude by noting that for decades we’ve listened to establishment Republicans repeatedly lie to the conservative base about “reducing the size of government.” Some have even promised to eliminate unnecessary government agencies such as the Department of Education. They never meant it, of course, just like they were always lying about securing the border. Fortunately, we do not need to place our hopes for reform on the backs of establishment RINOs any longer.

Donald Trump is different. He did secure the border in his first term, which he will do again in his second term, and he also has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to slay the bureaucratic leviathan, which it should be noted, has spent the past 8 years trying to slay him.

The widespread collapse of confidence in government agencies, coinciding with the re-election of Donald Trump, is a critical moment in this country’s future. We’ve never a had better opportunity to dismantle the bureaucratic state.

31 The parallels of where we are as a country are at right now and the Roman Empire before the final collapse are numerous.

We both intentionally debased our currency to absurd levels, along with exploding the welfare roles to unmanageable numbers.

Both of us invited in more and more barbarians in an attempt to inflate the working population while more and more citizens sit on the sidelines existing off of government bread and circuses.

Both of us engage in pointless and endless wars that bleed both the treasury and military. Both governments let the bureaucracy explode in both numbers and their ability to make laws without the consent of the governed.

34 As I said earlier this morning; no federal agency is ever really "out of money." Congress can, if they wanted to, appropriate funds over and above what FEMA 'says' it has. (There's really no accountability, so who knows how much money is actually available, but it's not zero.)

No, the real narrative that needs to be pushed is that FEMA doesn't want to spend money on western North Carolina because it will benefit Republican voters.

Not that FEMA is broke. It isn't. It's just that the priority for this administration is first and foremost; remain in power. By any means necessary.

Okay then. I'm racist.
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius

Racism is a term misused for rhetorical purposes by the left. No one much believes the old definition of the superiority of certain 'races' which is ill defined at best. Instead, it is used to pummel people who are enemies of the left.

The best response to being called that is to use rhetoric that is truthful back at them. For example, "is it racist to want to be treated fairly and equally by government?" A leftist cannot answer that rhetorical question honestly because of what it will reveal.

The more direct approach is returning the insult such as "Only a malicious idiot would believe that treating illegals better than US citizens by its own government is fair and just."

Never accept the unspoken premises used in rhetoric by the leftists as they are almost never arguing in good faith. They are arguing to score social credits and to shut you up.

These magic words have multiplied in the past five years. When dumb people have no response and know their position has no basis, they accuse the questioner of being: misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, racist, colonialist, fascist, supremacist, etc, etc. I guess it looks smarter than when purple-haired, pierced freaks simply bark at their "tormentors," revealing the true depth of their arguments.

The army/nat sec will give Xi a choice to become a figurehead or go down. the generic "Trump v Harris" polls say the race is effectively tied.

But more specific polls, like "right track/wrong track," "economy good or bad," "do you favor a mass deportation?" and "do you identify as GOP or DEM" are all favoring the GOP by big margins.

So either there's a sizable segment of the population out there saying "the country is on the wrong track, the economy is terrible, we need an aggressive new immigration party, and I identify myself as a GOP...but I'm voting for Harris"

or

the GOP is about to dominate in November.

If you believe the first possibility, you're an MSNBC viewer, conditioned to believe that Trump is just so icky that even the rank-and-file of the party will not vote for him.

If you believe the second possibility, you have eyes.

147 These magic words have multiplied in the past five years.

Treat all accusations as unfounded premises and depending on your personality type--either undermine them via rhetorical questions in reply or via go directly to insults.

Basically, everyone has to become a trial lawyer on their own behalf as a client and use the same skills to navigate. Same thing for media stories--use the logical rules of evidence regarding stories and sources.

Even arcane rules of evidence like ancient records often serve in good stead. Sources based on the past with no current ax to grind in current political arguments and issues often can give a clear and unbiased information in how to resolve a current situation.

The self-sufficient child will always get the short end because...they never needed the help before.

This is why I've always disliked the story of the Prodigal Son.

Then you're not reading it right. That parable is overflowing with the beauty of God's love toward his children. It's not a fable by Aesop, telling people how best to live. And all the father did was give the foolish son his inheritance early -- which doesn't diminish the obedient son's treasure one whit. Both are equally loved and valued in the Father's eyes. And there is no doubt that the hard-working son is esteemed for his hard work over the capriciousness of the young fool -- who asks for nothing more than to come back as a servant, not to regain what he squandered.

Machiavelli also gets down into the nitty gritty. Execute who you will but do it fast; don't estrange the executed's estate from his heirs as they will forgive the loss of a parent, uncle, etc. far more than loss of money. And so on.

School of thought that argues Machiavelli was writing satirically (those of the Straussian secret double messages school) about the events of his time while seeming to feign allegiance to one of the Borgias. Unless substantial evidence to the contrary exists, this strikes me as too clever by half. IMHO, when one starts looking for hidden knowledge in ancient texts; it can easily turn into going nuts like a wild squirrel set loose in a church.

212 You don't seriously expect the Federal government to provide aid to white rural conservatives, do you?

When the Covid vaccine first became available, Oregon uniquely provided it first to members of teachers' unions (without reopening the schools, of course), and the Oregon Health Authority convened a "diversity committee" to determine who should get priority for the vaccine.

The "diversity committee" concluded that old people in Oregon were just too white, and that all People of Color, no matter how young and how fit, should have access to the vaccine before the white 80-year-olds.

On this occasion, the "diversity committee's" recommendation was not accepted, but that is the future if we don't turn things around.

It's "Workers in the vineyard" is a story, I think, about God's love and that you can always come to Him in repentance and receive his grace, You don't have to have "gotten it" all along. It along with the prodigal son is, at least in some Protestant understanding, a parable about the theology of salvation being about faith and not finally about works, although God doesn't want to sit around and do nothing with the gifts he has given us , and the goal of the Christian life is be by the Holy Spirit to transformed as much as possible in this life to be transformed into the image of Christ.

But it is understandable from a human perspective to regard these stories about unfiarness.

Stories about FEMA here are just infuriating. Last thing was they were running some operation (private) out of Greenville Municipal Airport downtown in Greenville, SC, and FEMA flew in there and was getting in the way and hindering that.

They were flying stuff in to the mountains, and FEMA had to fuck that up.

Grace to sinners. Even the worst sinner can be reconciled with the loving Lord and welcomed. Repeated message in the NT. Jesus perpetually left clues that all can be saved (such footnoting his own statement about rich men and heaven by leavening it subsequently noting that all things are possible with the Lord) No one, no matter how wretched a sinner, is refused if they repent and live according to the Lord's precepts.

Similar to lost sheep parable. I think the Prodigal Son parable is also a subtle warning that we may consider ourselves 'good' by our own lights but grace extended to others is no business of ourselves. Don't bitch and whine about 'unfair' because our human judgment is flawed while the Lord's is perfect.

No. We get Democrat majorities we have become a communist state. Get all the Republicans we can and work supporting hard right Republicans, whether you like them or not, in the house and senate. Leadership has many tools to move votes, we have weak/wrong leadership that's a necessary change.

Giving or withholding money and assignments plus TV time or not makes a difference in the voting pattern.

My suspicion is that you are correct.

The performance of the GOP in office (apart from Trump and a few governors) resembles that of the Dems. Feckless, stupid, evil, and fawning to the MSM and rich donors/celebutards.

For example, we dump on Cooper justly here but ignore the nasty TEMA in Tennessee confiscating goods, delaying action etc. because it has a GOP governor. From all indications, he is little more than a rich Democrat that does not like to pay taxes.

Not sure why this has turned into a death struggle, but stranger things have happened.

Just perusing the available data, DSOTM was the the 8th best selling vinyl record in 2024, below Fleetwood Mac Rumors and well below Taylor Swift.

The raw figures are elusive, but I can't imagine Pink Floyd sold more than say 5000 units if that.

With supermajorities in 2009, they passed the ACA, a giant graft to Big Pharma.

These aren't ideologues running the party. They're corrupt hacks.

Just like those running the GOP who promised to repeal the ACA and then, at the last second, just, gosh darn it, that darn John McCain foiled them. If only they'd had Larry Hogan in the Senate at the time, then they could have done it!

It was re-issued again only a few months back on clear vinyl with the prism artwork inset in the discs and pre-sales were well over 5k.

Most normies are beginning to believe that government itself is evil and at all levels in many places. That in and of itself means a collapse is more likely than a consolidated regime.

Simply put, the money is gone, there is no one big enough to bail us out, and bought peons do not stay bought when the money runs out.

We bailed out the Sov Union for years with money, credit, tech and forestalled the collapse. Ditto in Mexico. No country is big enough and wealthy enough to do it for us. Unlike somewhere like Saudi Arabia with oil wealth to buy off the plebes (or even Venezuela to start with), fedgov and states bought their allegiance with borrowed money. At some point, credit is revoked and suddenly the Thunderdome happens between those recipients of government largesse fighting over gubmint cheese.

The good news, is that austerity usually only lasts a decade or so. Bad news if you are elderly or disabled (or both), time enough to recover for most of people.

Ok, let's double that and say they sold 10k units in a year, hell, let's triple it and say they sold 15k units, that still pales in comparison to Taylor Swift's near 4 million units sold.

At that rate, it will take Sony 50 years to recoup their investment.

Posted by: The Central Scrutinizer
-----------------------

A Democrat would also have voted to impeach Trump. On other issues Romney voted with Pubbies whereas a Dem would have voted against them. A bigger issue is the voting majority. We need ever number we can obtain for a bigger majority. Majority chooses the assignments, chooses which bills come to the floor and which don't, it also choose committee leadership and to a bigger extent who is on the committee.

So, a Romney by himself is a POS but his presence contributes to a MTG or Matt Gaetz or Elise Stefanik having much authority than if the Pubbies were in the minority. Get a real House majority leader with a real whip and see what happens.

Imagine this: Sicily, 1943 .... no, wait, that's a different sitcom.

Anyway, Trump enacts an EO that dissolves AFSCME. The union bosses declare a strike. The sheep, sorry, the workers dutifully go on strike. Strikers attacking 'scabs', 3rd party suppliers (vendors), blocking roads, etc., are arrested and tried in military tribunals -- Yes, that's the shock-inducing answer to 'what type of court' by every Sovereign Citizen question since sovcits* were saved from dribbling down thighs. Mil. Tribunals got around the problem that the civilian courts staff were all AFSCME members themselves.
Eventually USSC declares AFSCME and all unions involving people being paid by the USG, City, County or State Govs to be unconstitutional.
Most problems now solved by firing incompetents.
Much rejoicing across the land. Also drinking and debauchery**, mostly debauchery.

* sovereign cictizen. Fav question to waste court time is to inquire as to jurisdiction - admiralty, mil. trib., or common law.
** debaucher -- so what is a baucher?
