The Morning Report — 10/2/24

tianTimmy.jpg

Good Morning Kids. How fitting that on the 100th birthday of Jimmy Carter, Iran decided to celebrate by launching nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. Were it not for the fact that Carter stabbed the Shah of Iran in the back by recognizing the kullahocracy of Ayatollah Khomeini that overthrew the country and precipitated the hostage crisis, along with installing the world's largest state sponsor and exporter of global terrorism.

In the event, there evidently was only one casualty. Turns out it was a "palestinian" killed by a piece of debris from an intercepted missile that fell on him. So far, there has been no military response from the Israelis but given the magnitude and nature of the attack, and that it obviously was in response to Israel's so far incredibly effective campaign aimed at dismantling Iran's proxy armies of Hezbollah and Hamas, Israel is going to have to respond. Despite the blather from Kalorama or the Oval Offie, and Foggy Bottom that the US is standing behind Israel in the wake of the missile barrage, I think the Iranians sense exactly the opposite and are itching to retaliate in a way that would force the Israelis to respond in a way that the current pro-Iran junta in DC would not approve. Remember, it's always the damned Jews that are at fault for "escalating" the cycle of violence. /sarc!!!

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to Iran’s ballistic missile attack on Tuesday night by saying that they would pay dearly for their actions. Netanyahu’s words, delivered to the Israeli people in Hebrew, came after Iran fired approximately 180 ballistic missiles into Israel, most of which were shot down or landed in areas where they caused minimal damage.

“This evening, Iran made a big mistake – and it will pay for it,” he said. “The regime in Tehran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and to exact a price from our enemies.”

Israel vowed that there would be a “significant response” to Iran and the U.S. said that Iran’s attack was result in “severe consequences” for the Islamic regime.

Meanwhile, as the missiles were raining down on Israel, this happened:

Two terrorists opened fire Tuesday evening on civilians along Jerusalem Boulevard in the city of Jaffa, south of Tel Aviv in an apparent terror attack, killing six and wounding several other people. . . Several people took shelter in a nearby Hasidic synagogue, according to Army Radio. Jerusalem Boulevard is one of the main thoroughfares in Jaffa, the oldest part of the Tel Aviv metro area. The city has a significant Arab population, and Jews live alongside Arabs in the area.

Of course, last night was the Vice-Presidential candidates debate and Tampon/Tiananmen Tim and the Democrats must feel like the "Palestinian" that got hit by falling flaming missile wreckage. Because that's what happened. Vance delivered a few body blows himself to Walz and the media but much of the damage was self-inflicted. Calling yourself a knucklehead on national television when you're trying to convince people to vote for you to my untrained eye seems like a suboptimal move. But what the hell do I know?

Gov. Tim Walz may not have been in Tiananmen Square, but tonight he got hit by a tank.

Walz lost on issues, to which the Harris-Walz campaign has a congenital allergy, he lost on style, defaulting to word salads about being a regular guy from a small town whenever a question (like lying about Tiananmen Square when he was befriending members of China’s Bureau of Foreign Affairs) made him uncomfortable, but he lost on television.

Kamala had gotten rid of one confused old white man only to replace him with another.

Not since the Kennedy vs. Nixon matchup has there been a candidate who performed so much worse when people could see his face. And Walz’s bugged-out eyes, quivering apple pie chin, and the profile of a decaying jack o’lantern lost the debate more eloquently than any words

. . . Walz need not have really shown up. The talented moderating team of Margaret Brennan and Norah O’Donnell put in their late bid for the presidency and vice presidency by debating Vance more effectively than Walz had. It helped that they had control of the microphones. Brennan and O’Donnell, whose greatest previous taste of power had been yelling at CBS News interns for bringing them the wrong kind of coffee, joyfully smirked at the power to win a losing argument by announcing that Vance’s microphone had been cut off.

All things considered, Tim Walz probably was at Tiananmen Square. He was inside the tank, in the driver's seat when he stepped on the gas pedal and ran over the demonstrator!

In the days leading up to Tuesday’s debate, Democrats went out of their way to say they were nervous about how Gov. Tim Walz would perform.
It was an obvious effort to lower expectations in the hopes Walz would beat the gloomy forecasts and thus look like an upset winner.
They didn’t lower expectations far enough.
Walz had occasional moments of clarity, but he spent most of the night giving rambling answers that filled the allotted time without reaching a clear conclusion. The only thing he won was finishing first in the number of non-sequiturs.
Voters looking for a point where they could say “aha, that’s what the policy would be” had to be frustrated.

I know I was. . .

. . . His opponent, Republican Sen. JD Vance, was by far the smarter, more thoughtful and more organized thinker on the stage. His tone was pleasantly even, whether he was defending Donald Trump or attacking Kamala Harris.
Because VP debates are largely seen as referendums on the presidential nominees, Vance’s performance was a boost for Trump and the GOP ticket.
Walz, on the other hand, added to doubts about his readiness to serve, and thus was a minus for Harris.
The difference in temperament was so stark that Walz at times looked bug-eyed as he speed-talked his way through answers that often veered off course, as if his brain couldn’t keep up with his mouth.
“I’ve become friends with school shooters,” he said during an answer on school safety. “I’m a knucklehead at times” was his final weird answer to a question about why he falsely claimed to be in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square crackdown.
Vance, by contrast, was cool, deliberate and polite to a fault. He called the moderators by their first names, and began some answers by saying “I agree with Tim” or saying they had common ground, an obvious move to be the one creating a civil and substantive tone.

Have a good day.

7 Walz is fat and ugly (inside and outside) and proved himself totally unappealing in every sense of the word. The hard Left, which has no taste except bad taste and rejects the very idea of "character" as a criterion for leadership, won't care. But maybe the few remaining who haven't picked a candidate might be influenced.

Put it this way, if the media were simply neutral, Democrats wouldn't win anywhere.

It's also the reason they have to "fortify" elections and change election rules every time they manage to come to power, nobody but a f**king lunatic would vote Democrat.

31 Probably already mentioned, but this is rage inducing:
@amuse
HURRICANE: Communities across the south are being told to prepare for extended power outages as a result of a massive short of critical electrical equipment. It turns out the Biden-Harris regime hasn't just sent the bulk of our artillery shells to Ukraine - they've also sent them our nation's stockpile of critical electrical equipment.

The U.S. has always kept a stockpile of critical electrical equipment—like transformers and switchgear—to quickly restore power in the aftermath of disasters such as Hurricane Helene.

Now, with 360 substations in desperate need of new transformers, the country should be ready to respond. But here’s the catch: the Biden-Harris administration recklessly drained our stockpile by sending these crucial resources to Ukraine.

So while they're prioritizing foreign aid, millions of Americans could be left in the dark for months, suffering through extended power outages because of their poor decision-making. Once again, it’s America last under this regime.

Compared to government bureaucrats at any level, of course.

They are making the argument for physicians, architects, and accountants as well as tradesmen, garbage collectors and firemen.

The thing is, in all of these services/trades, automation is welcomed as it augments their ability to be more efficient and exacting. Are the longshoremen concerned that automation won't just augment their work but completely replace it?

If the cog in the machine can be replaced, it doesn't speak to the value of the function of the cog, but that a worn out rusted and noisy cog can be replaced with an advanced material cog.

I heard a podcast featuring a guest who was in the transformer making/distribution business.

There are commodity grade transformers, but for substations many must be specially designed and built. Then, of course, the Biden/Harris terror organization decreed that transformers must use amorphous steel because of Climate Change™

The market has no say in the materials they are allowed to use. Furthermore, it is very hard to find labor to make these transformers in the former United States because it actually requires work which this generation avoids at all costs.

Maybe between servings of cat and dog, the Haitians can build transformers.

75 The U.S. has always kept a stockpile of critical electrical equipment—like transformers and switchgear—to quickly restore power in the aftermath of disasters such as Hurricane Helene.

What makes this particularly evil is that we have been told all year long that this is worst hurricane season ever - totally unprecedented and major hurricanes will destroy all life on our planet.

So naturally, the Left ships all of the electrical supplies to a corrupt region of the world just so it can be blown up a few weeks later.

"Gus Walz was in the building when the shooting occurred in the parking lot at the Jimmy Lee, which sits on the corner of Selby Avenue across Lexington from Central High School. "

96 demand a 77% increase over the six-year life of the contract. So far, they have a 50% increase on the table

As I last recall, the Trans-Texas-Corridor was supposed to circumvent this Teamster/Gangster/Terrorist hostage taking by building massive rail and road pathways from coastal Mexico to as deep as Kansas City.

Apparently the Mexicans can operate cranes and ports too without demanding massive touch-fees every step of the way.

From what I have read, most nations don't have these massive fees so that a large container ship can enter a deep water port, containers can then be transferred to barges and delivered closer to warehouses rather than moving every damned container over our crumbling highways and disappearing rail lines.

Touch fees make it cheaper to tear up the highways.

The show just hasn’t been the same since he left in 2019. I’ve got nothing against Mike Wolf or his brother Robby, or Danielle or Jersey John, who seems to have replaced Frank on the show.

But it would’ve been nice if they’d have explained somewhere along the way exactly what happened to drop Frank like a hot potato all of a sudden five years ago.

I suspect the reason was that Fritz’s alcoholism had gotten out of control towards the end, and he had missed a lot of episodes due to a back surgery he had.

Frank had the stroke two years ago and he and Mike Wolf seemed to have reconciled and there was hope Frank might return to the show at some level, but I guess he never fully recovered.

Rest in Peace “Bearded Charmer” and thanks for teaching me so much about Americana and America itself.

152 Frank Luntz's panel of "independent" voters claim Vance won. The gullibility and ignorance of such people should concern everyone.

Don't be surprised if that is the case for most panels and polls.
Typically the more polished candidate wins these things. It's why Trump rarely ever wins post-debate polls.

Vance lies very well. And most people are uninformed. In the WaPo focus group, some actually thought Vance was better on climate change.

That is just Frank doing his job. His panel of undecideds always go for the Republican.

J.D.'s problem is that EVERYONE knows who is at the top of the ticket, so it was nice to have a civil debate, but his performance tonight gained Trump no new voters.

Walz did enough. In one week no one will remember this debate. the narrative should be the number of lies he told.

Frank Luntz's panels of 'independents' are about as convincing as his orange Koolaid-tinted, polypropylene hairpiece. About as convincing as Rassmussen opinion polls. Can we please send this dumpy bag of sophistry to the corn field once and for all?

So disable it or change operating systems are your only options.

You can uninstall it in Win10 though. I did. When MS stops updating Win10 next year, I guess I'll be completely with Linux. This old laptop I'm using now is the Win10 holdout.

Trump should decline ‘60 Minutes.’ Many years ago, when the Tesla roadster was launched, they did an interview with Elon. They also wanted me, Kimbal and Tosca in the interview. We were so excited to support Elon and Tesla. Unfortunately, they edited the segment to make it very negative. Not only that, but they added car sounds for the roadster because they didn’t know Teslas don’t make a noise. We were horrified, sad and disappointed and rejected any further interviews with ‘60 Minutes’. Stay away from them, even if you have a good message.

Fine. Tell me when the strike ends. Because all of the ports are disrupted Right Now. Not just one or two, but most of the ports are closed to hostage takers who flat out demonstrated their utter hatred of America and the willful imposition to cause massive collateral damage.

How is that any different from some Chinese/Nork/Leftist hackers from screwing up a port or two? Or are you suggesting that these ports are centrally commanded in such a way where a malicious actor (like any USG three letter agency) could perform a system wide shutdown?

Nice thing about the former United States is that there would normally be multiple competing vendors like there are for PSAPs because of a semi-free market so that hacking one system isn't necessarily a success path for another

Men who believe the task of the American government is to govern America and see to the freedom and prosperity of its people.

CBS said it would not be fact-checking Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) or Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) during the vice presidential debate.

ABC News took flak over its fact-checking during the presidential debate, fact-checking former President Donald Trump several times, including on dubious grounds, while never fact-checking Vice President Kamala Harris. Following the backlash, as well as a ratings hit to host David Muir, CBS announced it would not be fact-checking the vice presidential candidates.

Agree. But what is a realistic approach for a Republican candidate with respect to future debate rules? We here know that there is no chance of fair moderators among the MSM. History has proven time after time that moderators can't be trusted -- giving questions to a Dem candidate ahead of time, framing questions akin to "when did you stop beating your wife", applying their "fact checking" only to the Republican, etc. But if a Repub candidate insists on non-MSM moderators, the Dem would never agree and the MSM message would be that the Repub is scared to have a debate. So the Repub goes along with the rigged game AGAIN.

So what is an acceptable alternative? Gotta be one!!

When He returns, there will be no other opportunity to figure it out on our own and fulfill our plans.

The court will be seated, the books opened and many names will be blotted out. All will kneel, the believer and the unbeliever, alike and face truth and judgment.

People - the human kind - just don't like Harris or Walz, and a debate can't change that. Unfortunately, humans don't decide elections, demons do.

Going forward, the right pushes for extreme right wing commentators to moderate all debates or the left can go f*ck itself.

Enough is enough. They don't agree, it's on to the election with epic muckraking ads plastered all over TV and radio with no debates with the left labeled as chickenshit pussies for not agreeing to the terms they've been forcing on the right for decades.

Fight fire with fire and f*ck 'em in the ass with it.

304 Piper, just look for clips and still on X -- Vance would look at the camera when Walz was lying or flailing, ace likened it to Jim on "The Office." So, so good.

Walz had a variety of wild, exaggerated expressions, so even watching with the sound off one could tell he was in trouble. He did that wide-eyed thing a lot, where someone is trying really hard to convince you and you can tell you're being played. It was forced and insincere.

https://megainterview.com/longshoreman/

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the median annual wage for cargo and freight agents, which includes longshoremen, is $44,260. The BLS also reports that the top 10% of cargo and freight agents earned more than $71,630 per year. It is worth noting that these figures do not include benefits or additional compensation, such as overtime pay or bonuses.

That's 20-35 dollars per hour. Considering the increases in minimum wage, is it really all that much?

The entire progressive system is quagmire of self-defeatism, self-loathing, and decolonialism that puts the citizen at least 4 or 5 rungs below other. The first rung is either the Mohammedan or the Black Man depending on which one FAFO'd in their latest folly. Then comes the eternally grateful and prosperous immigrant, that brings their shithole ideal 3rd world thinking into maybe the only last real free country and miraculously makes it a better place. The 3rd rung is a daily fight of Karens, trans people, gays, and the like that want their fill at the trough.
Finally after all of these people have had the fill then the working, taxpaying, and law-abiding citizen is handed the bill for this clusterfuck of a nation.

Anything can become pathological, but the "preppers" are essentially correct. So are the Mormons, who have a very similar philosophy on robustness of stores for the family.

Everyone should have at least one week - preferably a month if you can manage it - of food and cash on hand. This requires storage and money, and takes time to accumulate. It's worth it. Especially because once the goods buffer is built up, you can draw from it and replace it as you go.

If you have the means - and the will - to simply shut it down for a 30 days ? A lot of problems outside your perimeter will fix themselves. Again - if you have the will to simply stay out of the way and let them.

That second part is the tricky one for traditional conservatives. They're "fixers".

Posted by: Ripley at October 02, 2024 09:15 AM (GUOwU)

413 Walz is giving a debating master-class. This guy does not need a teleprompter. He's speaking from his heart.

He is holding his own, but it isn't good enough. Vance is putting Walz on the defensive.

Don't agree. As usual, the only side that speaks out of turn and interrupts is the Republican side. Walz is an excellent orator and deeply kind individual. He's a roll model for us all. So is Kamala.

He is Minnesota nice. That is what is wrong here. However, anyone with a brain will prefer Minnesota nice.

Even if Walz technically "loses" the debate, as long as he doesn't make egregious errors, we'll all be fine. I'll be relieved if it's at least a draw

Undecided voters are not clear on the facts. Vance is a very slick speaker and gaslighter, sounding very reasonable and well spoken. He knows how to repeat lies in a way that sounds like they have a real basis in fact.

I'm sorry, but Tim Walz fell far short of articulating to undecided voters the severity of Trump’s crime and the very real threat he poses to our democracy. he missed a big opportunity last night to persuade undecided voters that the Trump ticket is completely unacceptable.

I explained where the food comes from and she got it.

A decent inverter generator, transfer switch, wiring, gas cans, 25 gallons of gasoline, stabilizers and freezers will all come out to around $3k to $4k and get you a few days' worth of continuous runtime and a lot more if you're miserly with power and only run it about 5-6 hours a day to chill everything back down to hard freeze. That's my plan, since I already have the freezer capacity and a lot of inventory. Power is *extremely* reliable on average where I live. We have more power outages than I was used to where I used to live, but the longest I have ever experienced is four hours. The utility here is top-notch at restoration, so it hasn't been a big issue.

In a disaster scenario, it would be a much bigger deal. That's why I want the generator.

466 Short of an extreme October surprise, and I wouldn't put anything past the Democrats, this election SHOULD* be a wrap for Trump. I think what really sealed it was the Hurricane Helene response, with the VP debate as a nice cherry on top. Dems have gone hard to try to paint Republicans as the reason FEMA isn't doing more, but it rings so hollow when a) Biden opens his mouth and b) Kamala can't help herself.

The easiest way to score political points presents itself and she can't be bothered to cancel everything and show up. It's a strong preview of what her presidency would be when an emergency or tragedy comes up, she'll show up on her time after she greases the palms first. I will be surprised* if she gets any votes in NC.

The current hostile debate arrangement is the only way they can break-through the MSM 'news show' total blockade on direct, positive, R candidate messaging. Their calculus must be that 20-25 minutes of direct messaging on all networks a few times during the fall campaign stretch is better than nothing. It should be about 35 minutes for each candidate per debate, after subtracting the intro, long moderator set-ups before questions, and TV ads. But then you have to subtract more time from the R candidate's direct messaging to account for fact-checking and other direct interference.

Why not? They gave us middle class Joe who was largely bough hook, line and sinker for decades. Smiling Joe - with his large smiling, PR grabbing/distracting Irish English Jewish German Italian clan - possibly even more successful in visible, public grifting than the Clintons and Cheneys.

He's perfect & will operate as directed under hand picked Haris who has been in the loop for many years - maybe not the 1st choice a decade ago, but still the good follow-up to Obama - to sit at the head of state during the continued transformation of the nation.

"Crime reports - Rape is the most under-reported crime; 63% of sexual assaults are not reported to police (o). Only 12% of child sexual abuse is reported to the authorities (g)."

And yet it's used to support unbridled abortion:
>KFF, 'A Closer Look at Rape and Incest Exceptions in States with Abortion Bans and Early Gestational Restrictions,' Published: Aug 07, 2024

(Including subpart) "Few people have accessed abortion care under the rape or incest exceptions to state abortion bans."

Where does good policing AND education plus actual healthcare vs doling out prescriptions & quick medical procedures come into the picture, or is the left's goal for U.S. mini vaca/abortion capital of the world?

It's not that 103 recipients are so troubling but, in small part,

"Welfare expansion has outpaced population growth: Pennsylvania has only gained 700,000 residents since 2000. The state budget is now dominated by safety net spending that runs through the Department of Human Services.

Though human services eat up a significant chunk of all state budgets, the commonwealth stands out: Pennsylvania's Medicaid expenditures as a percentage of its budget is the highest in the nation, according to an analysis from the Foundation for Government Accountability."

And the Board of Health liberal (sanctuary) counties that are contributing to the fiscal mess.

No wonder the youth are fleeing from lack of opportunity & high taxes.

Anyway, an excellent piece, worthy of reading in full imho.
