This would have shocked the normies and rubes, in 1917. Wiki says: "He is known for portraits and nudes in a modern style characterized by a surreal elongation of faces, necks, and figures -- works that were not received well during his lifetime, but later became much sought-after." This one is much less stylized.

It makes perfect sense -- they haaaate normal expressions of heterosexuality.

This is a painting that celebrates attractive women. They must normalize the deviant, and demonize the normal. In troll's mind, we are not allowed to enjoy this because we want to make deviant sex porn masquerading as children's books off-limits in school. And all nudity is the same, right? Right?!?!?

Great episode of "The Forger's Masterclass" where he teaches or tries to teach his students how to paint in the style of Modigliani, with a model posed like this in the studio.

Ahem. I respectfully disagree. The Turgidson Exception applied there. To wit:

General "Buck" Turgidson:
I know how it is, baby. Tell you what you do: you just start your countdown, and old Bucky'll be back here before you can say "Blast off!"

The model was reposing there and possibly open to an amorous advance. The Turgidson Exception applied and comment #84 was indeed pertinent and not subject to the 100 Comment Rule.

Nobody knows. It's like the "don't comment on old threads" rule. How old is "old?" Where is the danger cutoff? Nobody knows. The threshold is there, but untested systematically.

So like the "don't comment on old threads" rule, it is best to interpret it conservatively...

If you are unclear - or sloppy - that's how you end up with absurdities like, "the maximum device size when legacy MBR-format partitions are in use is 2 terabytes, less 512 bytes" and the problems such an oddity will cause a couple of decades down the line...

At first I thought they were cursed with extremely high mechanical IQ and extremely low verbal IQ. I might have felt sorry for them if they weren't uh ya know pirates.

I was about 13 when that show aired, and me and my friends would randomly blurt out "We are smart! We are strong!"

They may have started speaking in the same way humans did, and later evolved the metaphor thing we saw. Or the crew of the ship might have been a splinter group from the home planet's main society who were "striking out on their own."

Didn't matter to me. The excitement of Picard figuring it out, and then when he uses their own metaphor matrix to communicate with them at the climax (and we understand what P. is saying!) -- both classic.
