Good Morning Kids. 23 years ago our world was turned upside down. Beyond the sheer horrors of what we saw that day, and some of us felt (I lost a classmate who was trapped on the 108th floor of the south Tower) and in fact I was at the World Trade Center exactly a week before and were it not for a last second decision to return to Los Angeles likely would have been there that morning at the exact time the Towers collapsed.

The events of that day and their aftermath, along with the political high-tech lynching of Clarence Thomas a decade earlier marked my personal political awakening and transformation. Considering what has happened and is happening both here and abroad, those events remain seminal in the eternal struggle between (pace Mark Levin) liberty and tyranny.

God bless the sacred memory of all those who perished on that horrible day, as well as those who gave their lives in the ensuing travesty of the so-called Global War on Terror that has done nothing to avenge their deaths nor to make America and civilization safer. All one has to do is peruse the website Religionofpeace dot com (linked here) and look at the body count since 9/11/01 of the practitioners of Islam as written and preached to understand that they will not stop until all of us are dead or subjugated, even if it means turning planet Earth into a nuclear wasteland.

Ditto their allies of convenience, the Globalist communist Left, especially in America and all over the world. Yet even Germany has had it up to here (pointing at my neck where Ahmed will cut along the dotted line) with unchecked migration from dark age Islamic hell holes. Of course, they like many other nations have only themselves to blame for allowing this as national policy for decades, be it for economic or other reasons. It's likely too late but still, at least they're doing something to try and restore something that resembles, if they're lucky, Springfield Ohio or Aurora Colorado, right? If they're lucky. As it stands, Europe is on course to become Kabul or Islamabad within the next 10 years, if not sooner.

Speaking of Kabullshit, if you caught the so-called debate last night, among the unmitigated lies hurled by Kamala at Donald Trump was this titanic whopper of a blood libel:

Vice President Kamala Harris, who once boasted of being the "last person in the room" when President Joe Biden finalized America's withdrawal from Afghanistan, instead blamed former president Donald Trump for the botched evacuation during Tuesday night's debate.

As expected, it was about as horrible a rigged shit-show as you imagined. There are a number of links at the top of the Politics section to peruse vis a vis reactions.

What was supposed to be a presidential debate between former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris hosted by ABC News, instead became a debate between the former president, his current challenger, and ABC’s two moderators: David Muir and Linsey Davis.
Even as Kamala Harris lied about her positions on fracking, gun control, and Israel, Muir and Davis repeatedly jumped in to argue with Trump under the guise of ‘fact-checking’ him.
The 3-on-1 debate format may very well mark the end of mainstream media presidential debates. It also represented a new low in not just media bias, but election interference.
The media marks each year by giving the public new reasons to distrust it, and ABC News, Muir, and Davis were clearly so insecure about the performance of their candidate that they repeatedly felt called on to argue with Trump instead of letting Kamala rebut him.
ABC News, Muir, and Davis also had no trust in the voters to decide for themselves.
And so what was supposed to be a debate between two candidates instead became a debate between the establishment and an insurgent. Paradoxically this cut against efforts by the Kamala campaign to brand her an “underdog: and an insurgent candidate swimming upstream. . .
. . . Kamala came into the debate with the same approach as her campaign. Unburdened by her past views or her administration’s current positions, she recited contradictory memorized speeches that reflected whatever her pollsters thought the public might want to hear.
That meant accusing Trump of being soft on China, blaming him for her administration’s disastrous pullout from Afghanistan and claiming that crime was down. It also meant howlers like contending that “there is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone in any war zone around the world” when American soldiers have been killed in Syria and wounded in Iraq, and just weeks ago took part in a raid in that same country.
None of the moderators thought that needed fact-checking.
Kamala claimed on the eve of 9/11 that January 6 was the “worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.” But the attacks of September 11 and the resurgence of Al Qaeda and ISIS in Afghanistan did not come up at the debate since it wasn’t nearly as important as abortion.
Instead, there was time for an extended conversation about abortion during which Kamala falsely claimed that women were being denied IVF procedures because of Trump. ABC’s Linsey Davis did not see fit to argue with that but did argue with Trump about partial-birth abortion.

Some have criticized Trump mostly for his angry reactions at the in-your-face bias of the moderators, but can you blame him? For sure, he had to know he was walking into a public execution. Had he refused, he' have been raked over the coals for that.

But will last night's farce really move the needle to anyone but the lowest of low information voters? Since Kamala now has the Taylor Swift endorsement, I guess that's good enough for them. And if that is the case, then we as a society are screwed.

In the end, I don't think last night will make that much of a difference. The election will boil down to the reality of open borders and a dead economy vs. how many dead voters show up for the Democrats after the polls close this November.

Not just that it was 3 against 1, but more specifically, he needed to fact-check and counter-attack her on the spot, as well as manage the inaccurate spin veiled as "fact-checking" from the Democrat operatives set up to moderate the debate. So no, it wasn't anything close to a fair debate, but Trump fell short of that difficult bar. I am sure most of you were like me watching, yelling at the TV the things that Trump needed to say and call her out on (or the things he needed to ignore, like when it was obvious she was baiting him into silly stuff like defending the crowd size at his rallies). So it was hugely disappointing, but I'm hoping that is what has me feeling so bad about it, and not that the debate actually changed the trajectory of the campaign (which Trump is winning, at least before last night).

110 Whenever someone says "I don't think the debate will charge much," it's cope. It's an attempt to minimize a lost opportunity.

That was not a good performance by Trump. The deck was stacked against him but he has almost always faced that problem, and he often has been able to turn the tables and overcome it.

Anyone who's been watching him for nine years knows that his biggest weaknesses are his distractibility, his passion, and his ego. Those weaknesses can be overcome, but he'd have to do traditional debate prep. He'd have to practice with hostile questioners and an opponent who tried to get under his skin. But he refuses to do traditional debate prep because his too stubborn to see that what worked in 2016 against Clinton doesn't work against everyone else. He doesn't change because he's not capable of learning. That's just who he is.

Given the polling history, he's probably in the lead. But that was a disappointing performance.

Harris was on-topic, rarely rambled, spoke clearly and fairly eloquently, and would revisit subtle throwaway phrases Trump had used long before in the debate.

I actually watched it (albeit on Razorfist's live stream so I'm inheriting his bias). Trump was fine, and he said a few eminently quotable things. Kamala sounded like she was reciting an Obama stump speech, complete with tons of "let me be clear".

For me, Trump's biggest mistake was not hitting her with the "you have been in office for 4 years, why aren't you doing this now?" until the closing after most had tuned out.

She doesn't think it was a good debate for Kamala and makes some good points about that. Rich Lowry, editor of NeverTrump Review Online, also didn't think this was especially helpful to Kamala or bad for Trump, largely because of how transparently bad the moderators were. Rasmussen has a chart up of how well they performed against about 15 other polling firms. They all were off by anywhere from 2 to 12 points. Everyone underestimated how well Trump did in 2020.

So if you are seeing a tie in national polls, it's definitely something.

Part of the problem here is that even if we had completely fair elections each voter has only a very, very small say in who gets elected. But the sum result of that has about as much impact on your life as any other decision you might make and people that will spend large amounts of time on deciding a career field or hell a fantasy football team roster can't be bothered to really understand the issues.

I'm pretty good at this kind of thing and I think overall she was stage managed well. Having her look at Trump for 60% of her talking was a good way to try and subordinate him, and it is very difficult if not impossible to do that. Good cheap tactic to hand her fake points. They did some camera angle trickery too.

Also she did a *lot* of Biden smirking reminiscent of his bs debate with Ryan. Low fo's seemed to dig that back then but I don't know how it plays on a woman honestly.

I think her refusing to answer the question about whether she would protect babies in the 8th and 9th month was by far her worst moment. Trump was smart to deploy the question but we can't give him credit for anything because reeee.

Reddit is a website / platform that works like other forum style sites. It used to be a very useful place where people could discuss and share information and answer questions on a multitude of topics. But then, like so many other platforms, the mods started acting like Zuck and pre-Musk Twitter with left-leaning bias. The place still has some usefulness for non-political stuff.

Kamala on the other hand - needs to introduce herself to independent and non-committed voters. She totally failed on that mark and it will haunt her. That is why so many of the focus groups still come out in Trump’s favor. Reuters did a write up of their focus group - 6 went to Trump 3 to Kamala and 1 undecided still.
