I dreamed something about visiting a coffee & bakery in a neighborhood near my work on what seemed to be a Sunday afternoon. I bought a croissant with jelly in it and was eating it outside. There was a pile of boxes at the curb, and in a wooden box at the top were a bunch of notes and scraps -- of my own writing. For some reason I didn't grab it instantly but made plans to drive back in the early morning and toss it in the trunk of my car.
Then my croissant had turned to a black cup with some juice in it. I went back in and asked a woman staffer, who was sitting doing nothing in a busy shop, if she could give me a go-cup with the remainder. She said, "No." Me: "Not even a paper cup?" "No." Instead of pouring it on the floor, I plunked the cup down on a counter and walked out. Then I woke up. I've fed the monsters and am on coffee No. 2. Soon I must change, stretch, and work out, since I skipped Friday and yesterday it was raining.
Our visit to the suburban restaurant famous for its charbroiled oysters went much better than I expected. We got there about nine, and the place was well attended but not crowded. We were served promptly and cheerfully by an older lady. An oyster omelette for Miss L., a ham & cheese one for me, with a "jumbo" biscuit for each of us. This thing is big: Put your index fingers and thumbs together to form a circle, and that's about the size. I paid ($51! Coffee was $3 bloody 95!) via card right at the table and left her a $10 cash tip. Very nice. Perhaps I'll go back on a cool or cold Saturday and have one of their other items. Yes Wolfus . The state allowed certain areas to stay on central time because of being so intertwined with central zone. Gary is tied to Chicago and Evansville is tied to.... Somewhere in Illinois. Lots of business with those areas so central works better for them. It seems stupid to me but I'm just a hick from the sticks in southern Indiana. Ubislop's Star Wars Outlaw has an interesting glitch that affected everyone who got early access.
A progression bug is what it has been called. But simply it becomes impossible to advance any further in the game. So one has to start over. But wait there could be more drama since Ubislop still has Assassin's Creed: Shadows due to be released. As if this game needs any more drama but it will happen. And opposed to Dustbin, Ubislop has literally spent hundreds of millions of dollars on both games. Posted by: Anna Puma at September 01, 2024 06:43 AM (qOFls) 67

There used to be a company who specialized in creating networks where most tech would fail. They had tradeshow demos and marketing around 'IP Over Barbed Wire' to drive home how robust their tech was for getting great distances and performance over good wires. It also showed their strength in serving situations where speed wasn't an issue but durability was. There are still plenty of apps where 300 baud modem speed is fine so long as the connection stays up.

Lost in this is the fact that the Aurora population is already about 50% legal immigrants. As a result, Republican mayor Coffman told Polis to pound sand when he tried to pressure Coffman into taking on a bunch of Denver's illegals as well. So, then the feds, via their contracted NGOs, placed a bunch of illegals in Aurora, as was done by Obama during his refugee craze (i.e. without telling local leadership). Did you see what happened with his husband last weekend? At the same time the illegals are taking over apartment complexes, Polis' gray wolf reintroduction is spinning out of control, too. They are, as predicted, eating livestock and now have to be moved (because apparently you can magically wish away centuries of predatory behavior in humans and wolves. Re used, I've bought some desktops in the past for specific purposes from off lease. Usually with some form of windows.
Good refurbishers often start with a system that corporations already removed the hard drive for security. Thus, they reinstall a os and now usually on a SSD drive. Sometimes you will get something like mixed memory sticks from different mfg, etc. The big players, Lenovo, HP, and Dell usually have spare parts but more importantly bios updates, etc and even tech manuals for free download. Intel in most of them and they do support their motherboards. Recently picked up a Lenovo coffee lake era Intel computer for 99 bux, added 32 gig of matched memory, and a cheap 1 tb 3rd generation m2 drive. That brought cost up to 220 or so. Use it for scanning photos and documents before shredding the paper copies. Still has windows 10 which works w two corporate level scanners, one for fotos and the other for documents. Both self feed. Neither have drivers for windows 11. Posted by: whig at September 01, 2024 09:06 AM (kW+z9) 225
>>>In addition, new IVM effects have recently been discovered as antiplasmodics, antiviral and mycobacterial and have been described as an antileukemic agent [24,25,26,27] and as an inhibitor of SARS-CoV19 replication [28,29]. IVM has been reported to inhibit the proliferation of several tumors’ cells [30], and this also suggests that it can suppress almost completely the growth of various human cancers, including breast [30], colon, ovarian and melanoma [16,17,31]. Table 1 shows referenced studies about the IVM application as an anticancer drug to several subtypes of cancers.

One thing about used corporate thin and light desktops is they usually have proprietary power supplies and thus minimal upgrades other than memory or perhaps a very low power separate graphics card.
Due to a recent longstanding security issue with ryzen chips, I would not buy a used one either in a desktop or laptop. Posted by: whig at September 01, 2024 09:13 AM (kW+z9) 228

To be fair, Overwatch originally cost money. But that was Overwatch 1. Apparently, the sequel Overwatch 2, is just Overwatch 1, but freemium.
There was also a game called Battleborn, same idea. 5v5, individual matches, unique characters (heroes) with different abilities that you use as a force multiplier for your team. It launched in 2016. It died at the start of 2021, less than 5 years. And since it was Online, even the single-player content can't be played. A big problem with gaming right now is that there's been a major push to being online, pushing constant updates ("Live" service), and being multiplayer. Follow-the-leader, thanks to big names like Call Of Duty, Overwatch, Fortnite, and others that apparently make billions upon billions. But those games, kind of like Amazon.com, won the luck of the draw; you can't just repeat their steps and get their victory, because they are already crowding the finish line. And gamers only have so much money and time. Moreso if they're social gamers that want to play with friends. If a friend has only enough money for 1 game, that's the only one that friend group can play - the lowest-common-denominator of gaming.
