Daily Tech News 31 August 2024

Top Story

  • Brazil's spiral into becoming the North Korea of the Southern Hemisphere continues to accelerate. (AP News)

Tomas de Torquemada of the country's Supreme Federal Court has ordered all ISPs in the country - presumably somehow including Starlink - and all app stores to block access to Twitter.

Torquemada also ordered app stores to remove VPN software, and ordered a fine of $8900 per day for any company or individual using a VPN to access Twitter.

The justification for this is that Twitter doesn't have a legal representative in Brazil. (Nor I should note does this blog. Does Torquemada know how the internet works?)

The reason Twitter doesn't have a legal representative in Brazil is that Torquemada threatened to jail her, and when she resigned, froze her bank accounts.

  • Space rocks.

A Federal law enforcement agent has just told me that the New York State National Guard @NationalGuardNY
has started staging guardsmen in hotels around the NYC courthouse where President Trump is going to be sentenced on September 18th, as they are expecting that Trump will be taken in to custody and sent directly to Rikers Island by Judge Juan Merchan.

Source says the National Guard is being staged there because the Mayor of NYC @ericadamsfornyc
and the Governor of New York @GovKathyHochul
both believe the police unions are preparing to stage a mass “out sick” day in support of President Trump on September 18th because none of the officers want to be involved in the persecution of Donald Trump.

And t this week people were linking to news articles where illegals are taking over school buses, apartment buildings, and I assume towns. That last one is said because if no one stops them from taking over school buses and apartment buildings, then they've already conquered that territory.

Imagine going back in time to 2004 and telling yourself this was happening, and all of the left and quite a few (R)s were enabling it, with only a handful opposed, with the opposition being lawfared, charged with... something, and shot in the head.

I've lived in the South my entire life. We've watched them pour in by the millions, sapping economies and school systems and taking jobs that high school kids did, and soon after that jobs of people who might not have finished high school, and not long after that trades of high school graduates.

The entire time begging the feds and other states to help us do something to put an end to the invasion.

And we were told we were racists, and that diversity is strength, and that illegals pay taxes and are just generally awesome.

I won't lie. I'm sort of enjoying watching those folks get a two year or so crash course in the experience. Especially knowing it won't get better, and they haven't had the luxury of time to work out/fight all the economic, physical, and mental damage from drinking, rapes, drugs, gangs, etc. that the illegals bring with them.

Soon they'll wonder where their kid jobs went, and some will wonder where their kid went. And it was all preventable, and we sounded the alarm decades ago.

Enjoy!

Oh, they've certainly been moving up north, too. And I suspect they've completely infested California, especially since half of all households no longer speak English at home. But it's Texas, Florida, NC, etc. that have - for decades - been begging and pleading for states like NY and California to join in and do something about it. It's a huge part of why Trump won.

Sadly we learned that a $5B wall would've economically broken the nation, so now those areas supporting that notion get to experience the diversity they so desperately wanted.

I met Mr. de Camp and his lovely wife Catherine at a Gulf Coast SF convention in '87. She sent me a postcard later that year with a pen-and-ink caricature of the two of them, and of course I saved it. I thought I had it tucked into one of my Heinlein volumes; but now I can't find it. Probably it'll turn up when I move.

I told Mr. de Camp that I'd not read too much of his work, but that whenever I had, I learned something new. He seemed pleased to hear that.

This was another in long list of made up bullshit against Trump that really didn't hinge on it being true or not, it was simply meant to provide a continuous talking point, and create a wedge between Trump and the GOPe and get their buy in.

Why was The Russia Collusion Op so successful, because their are a great many in the GOP that have a visceral and reflexive hatred for all things Russia.

Remember, the people that drove a lot of the Russia Collusion op, be it Mueller or the retards on The Intelligence Committee were all Republicans.

Similarly, the suckers and loser and Arlington crap are meant to create that same wedge, the left could give too flying figs about the military.

Aurora is a way east of Denver and the mountains. The only view is of the plains when you head east. It's hard to see even the foothills from there, unless you're in a tall building.

When I first moved there, I lived in Lakewood, a suburb to the west of town. You could see the foothills of the Rockies, and a short drive took you to the famous Golden (of Coors fame) and then up into the mountains themselves, either on I-70 or various well-paved state highways. I burned a lot of gasoline driving up there to Golden and Idaho Springs among other places.

I think he will. The left has been 'poking the bear' (us) for years. They think it will justify a national crackdown. We do to. Thus, it's been a bit of a standoff.

Other than the armed agents in the fed's employ, and there are many, I guess the real question is who else will comply? Knowing that with certainty...

In the final analysis that's the issue.

189 I've told this before but it's a favorite.

Girl F. was almost 5 years old and she had gone with me to shabbat morning prayers. So after, I took her for a buffalo burger on Geary Blvd near our synagogue.

Down the boulevard comes Kamala and her entourage campaigning for D.A. There was press and a big hullabaloo. Kamala sees me in the small burger place and decides to come in to say hello. So this tiny place fills with people and our little table is surrounded, my daughter being a city kid is nonplussed.

We exchange pleasantries and she prepares to move on, leans down to little Girl F. and says "your daddy is very smart."

Not a compliment. But Girl F. was impressed anyway.

The Ukrainian air force took possession of 6 F-16 multirole jets earlier this month. Not sure if they were from the US or another NATO country. This week Ukraine came under a significant aerial attack (missiles, drones, aircraft) from Russia and sent at least one of their new F-16's into battle.

I saw that too. And lil' Z fired the head of his air force too. So, there's a lot of questions about that loss. The original report was that the aircraft crashed during the attack... while trying to land and the pilot was killed by 'Russian missiles.' Which is horseshit.

And IIRC a Patriot AAW battery can only fire on targets approved by US officials or under US approved circumstances. So....

There are elements within those groups that want things to escalate to a kinetic level. That being said, the majority have participated in an environment where they could operate with impunity and little fear of consequences. Remove the rule of law and replace it with the law of consequences and their numbers will dwindle. If it goes kinetic they won't be facing a line of riot police operating with their hands tied.

Pixy has a great career, his own house, cooks! Definitely a catch - ladies must be lining up to meet him.

Since some of you were in the area do you recall who built that huge synagogue in the Abington area? It reminded me of something that Frank Lloyd Wright would design.

268 Unusually, for Wikipedia, the summary description of Heinlein's book is well done, and not a lefty screed. I wonder how that happened.

270 88 Mark Steyn relates an interesting conversation among his commenters speculating on the Trump assassination attempt, concluding the GOPe/Uniparty would have tried slipping Nikki Haley of all people into the nomination.

He was shot just before the RNC convention, and before be picked his running mate. If he was killed instead of injured, Nikki and not RDS would have had the most delegates going into the convention. GOPe would have forced her on us then.

271 259 NYC, some years ago, was the most segregated, provincial place I've ever been. Shocked, I was.

That's where I grew up. Housing, fried chicken, and church was segregated. Everything else was integrated.

(White people went to KFC, black people went to Church's)

So true. Growing up, when you took the train from Manhattan to The Bronx, all wipipo would rush to get off the train before it went north of 96th Street, for instance.

I always try and remember that those leftists value their pensions above all else!! They don't really want to get killed for the sake of politicians.
I also like the argument that apart in the big cities and suburbs in blue states, they, the lefties, live intermingled with people on the right and we know where they (D) and families live.

275 30 The descriptions of the Boars Head factory reminds me of an open-air meat market I once visited in Merida, Mexico. It's sort of announced itself by the smell and the swarming flies. I don't recall the price of chickens but I doubt they were anything close to $40 AUD.
Posted by: Alteria Pilgram at August 31, 2024 05:21 AM (KF0bg)

A friend related an experience shopping at an open-air meat market in Mexico in the 1960s.
He, too, commented on the smell and the hanging meat covered with flies.
He noticed one vendor's meat was fly-free.
He asked the vendor why there were no flies on the meat, the vendor reached under the counter, pulled out a can of insect sprsy and said, proudly, "Ah, Senor, I use Rrraid!"

277 >video game industry implosion

The industry isn't imploding. It's just moved to countries and demographics that aren't young white American males. Black Myth Wukong's numbers are mid outside China. The mobile games market is growing at 6-7% a year and its big markets aren't in North America.

The *AAA PC/console video game* industry is imploding, but it's imploding for the same reason arcades disappeared in the 1980s.
