  • Intel's Arc A750 graphics card lines up against AMD's RX 6600. (Tom's Hardware)

The cards are roughly equal at 1080p, with the Intel card pulling strongly ahead at 4k resolutions.

Though at 4k even the Intel card can't manage 30fps, so you might want to look at spending more than $200 on a video card if that is your goal.

  • Wizards of the Coast (owner of Dungeons and Dragons) wants to ship one or two computer games per year starting in 2025 or maybe 2026. (WCCFTech)

This is going to be a disaster.
It's not the first time we heard [CEO Chris] Cocks talking about a push toward the videogame industry, particularly for the Dungeons and Dragons franchise. However, last year Wizards of the Coast canceled five games, including two D&D projects in development at Hidden Path Entertainment and OtherSide Entertainment.
So that's negative five so far.
Wizards of the Coast is also in talks with various partners to continue the Baldur's Gate franchise following Larian's decision to find its own path elsewhere.
The popular Baldur's Gate series of games recently returned after twenty years, with Baldur's Gate III seeing huge success - 2.5 million copies sold in early access, and over 10 million to date..

The developer, Larian, hated working with Wizards of the Coast so much that they refused to consider a sequel or even an expansion, even though they were guaranteed hundreds of millions of dollars in sales.

  • LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman has brain damage. (The Register)

He recently contributed $7 million to a Kamala Harris PAC, stating that he regarded Harris as better for business than Trump, with the demand attached that Harris fire FTC chairman Lina Khan.

Hoffman is apparently unable to grasp that (a) Harris is a Marxist, and (b) the easiest way to get Lina Khan out of Washington is to elect Trump.

  • Decrappifying Windows with Windows. (Notebook Check)

This is something you need to do at install time, and if you install a lot of Windows systems you'd already know this, but by dropping an Unattended Windows Setup file onto your install drive you can get rid of almost all of the crap Microsoft wants to shovel at you.

The tech, called MO/GO, short for “mountain goat,” is a hybrid soft/rigid system designed to assist wearer mobility and boost the wearer while walking. Rather than actually walking for a person, it provides a 40% energy assistance to the quadricep and hamstring, while offloading work from the knees.

40 Evening and morning to all on this unburdened Sunday!

Two unconnected dreams last night. Miss Linda and I were driving somewhere west of downtown here -- I recognized a street name -- but everything was completely different, as if a careless, quirky god had dropped a whole new section of town in to replace what I knew around the Superdome. We found ourselves in what seemed to be a development strictly for state office workers. There was a roofed-over section like a mall with a bar and eateries and various shops, all with the same circular black sign out front. We walked down this long hall to a lunchroom that looked down on two sides onto a sculptured playground. The state office workers were the scruffiest bunch of layabouts you ever saw, and I couldn't wait to get out of there! (cont.)

45 (cont.) The second dream starred Donald Trump. Apparently I'd been looking for a job for a while, even though I was retired, and had found something in an office. He came lumbering in, dark topcoat or suit, blond hair, white shirt, red tie, and all, sipping from a styrofoam coffee cup. I was glad to see him; I guess he owned the company. I introduced myself, and he sat down next to my desk to drink his coffee.

I was going to ask him: "Mr. Trump, what's it like when the deal is over and done? It's exciting, of course, a new project. All the details, and the prep, the twists and turns of negotiation. But when it's done, when the papers are signed and you walk out, what's it feel like?"

And . . . the alarm went off!

I'd planned a second question, but now I can't remember it.

101 Intel's Arc A750 graphics card lines up against AMD's RX 6600. (Tom's Hardware)

The cards are roughly equal at 1080p, with the Intel card pulling strongly ahead at 4k resolutions.

-

I have a Arc 750. IIRC I found it on the Acer refurbished ebay store for something like $170 with a two year warranty. It's an incredible value for what it is, and gaming at 1080p with titles like RDR or Cyberpunk is pain free. It had some driver issues at launch IIRC, but I haven't had any meaningful problems with it. I'm very happy to have bought it over the $400 or so 4060.

It runs stable diffusion only a bit slower than my laptop 4080.

Where it really shines is transcoding, though. It tears through video conversions, specifically AV1, like nothing I've ever seen.

Worth every sub-$200 penny.

117 I think our schools get some of their funding from private donations. Mostly towards sports, and music related things. There are families with deep pockets and a deep rooted connection to the community. So they buy uniforms, gear, instruments, etc. for the schools.

Of course the tax base plays a big part in providing kids with breakfast, lunch and in some cases their school supplies for the year.

“Because Satan hates God he also hates the true people of God. They are targets for his wrath as he “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5: 8; cf. Eph. 6: 11). Since its ruler hates believers, it is hardly surprising that the world also hates them, because they are not of the world. The world resents believers because their godly lives condemn its evil works; “he who is upright in the way is abominable to the wicked” (Prov. 29: 27).”

If you've got any public schools or government offices around, you've had DEI there for years. It's becoming clear that it's a lot like the gay rainbow flag. They introduced the DEI to make it very public what they've been doing in government offices for decades, and I guess to normalize the behavior among a broken post-COVID society.

Trump also made reference to Reagan's position on abortion. This is the only thing I can find:

President Ronald Reagan first enacted the global gag rule—also known as the Mexico City Policy—in 1984. The global gag rule prohibits foreign nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) who receive U.S. global health assistance from providing legal abortion services or referrals, while also barring advocacy for abortion law reform—even if it’s done with the NGO’s own, non-U.S. funds. The policy allows access to abortion only in cases of rape, incest, or when a woman’s life is at risk.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden has tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the White House effort to tackle the migration challenge at the U.S. southern border and work with Central American nations to address root causes of the problem.

And 2 weeks later

Possibly.

My wife and daughter went up to the school last week to register the kids. I asked my wife about the trans/gay shit (flags, posters, etc.) She said there was only the American and state flag and a plaque with the pledge of allegiance in the entrance. The other common areas they passed were devoid of any rainbow, trans, DEI crap. Individual classrooms will be looked at when the kids actually start school. Well, the LORD is speaking about Jeremiah, and the phrase "appointed you a prophet" is a clue that the Almighty Most High God would protect Jeremiah by any means necessary to accomplish the mission the LORD ordained in Eternity Past.

Not everyone gets the "appointed you to ___" and some are appointed ___ which is to die accomplishing nothing of social notability.

Always good to be your perspective on this.

The Druze are so intersecting to me, their being such a small community trapped in the middle between three, huge, competing religions.

I suppose to survive as long as they have in those circumstances loyalty is a luxury at times.

But if I was Druze, I’m pretty sure I’d have to side with the Jews and Christians, knowing that Islam allows no dissent or apostasy once they have compete control.

246 Martini, that is how our local district's elementary was. You can't tell from the outside. But the "troubled" kids are sent to the special counselor and suddenly there is a rash of kids who identify as LGBTQ and start espousing pronouns. And rather than be run out of the school on a rail, she is given reign over an entire wing of a closed/ consolidated school in the district to take all of the troubled kids for all day programming. But we celebrate it because she is taking care of the mental health of our children and you know how hard it is to find a goo therapist!!!

266 No, they are sick. We were together for 2 days and the first one fell ill. That was on Tuesday and Mr. nec and I are currently fine. He took the J&J vaccine in 2020 on pressure from his sibling brothers and I've never been vaccinated. He also lost partial hearing when he had covid 2 years ago, oddly enough of the 6 attending that same type of family event everyone got covid accept me. I had a lot of antibodies at the time from having had covid.

As I have posted several times, Covid, like all respiratory viruses reproduces in the mucus lining of the nose. Swabbing the inside of the nose with Iodine or Betadine, Kills it on contact. A doctor told me about that. All of my friends who have tried that, swear by it. If you get Covid try it, you'll feel better in about 20 minutes.

274 House Resolution 253 from March 24, 2021 citing her being named Border Czar on that day.
Posted by: An Observation sez China Joe not my president at July 28, 2024 08:31
---------------

Something's not squaring here. I looked at the Gutfield link you post showing what you posted. However, a search at Congress.gov shows for H.Res 253 show this:

2. H.Res.253 — 117th Congress (2021-2022)
Celebrating the heritage of Romani Americans.
Sponsor: Hastings, Alcee L. [Rep.-D-FL-20] (Introduced 03/18/2021) Cosponsors: (1)

Posted by: olddog in mo at July 28, 2024 10:01 AM (LyNt9)

275 However, in the 118th Congress there was this on March 24, 2023:

1. H.Res.253 — 118th Congress (2023-2024)
Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that Vice President Kamala Harris should be removed from her position as the head of the Biden administration's strategy to address the root causes of migration.
Sponsor: Jackson, Ronny [Rep.-R-TX-13] (Introduced 03/24/2023) Cosponsors: (6)

Posted by: olddog in mo at July 28, 2024 10:03 AM (LyNt9)

276 Think I figured it out. The HR 253 introduced by Ronny Jackson in 2023 states:

"Whereas, on March 24, 2021, Vice President Kamala Harris was named "Border Czar" in charge of leading efforts to stem migration across the United States-Mexico border;"

That was the Resolution Gutfeld was showing in that clip. So no Resolution was passed in 2021 naming Harris "Border Czar".

Posted by: olddog in mo at July 28, 2024 10:21 AM (LyNt9)

I can't find it now but I remember some Kamala quote where she said words to the effect that "you're not gonna pin that shit on me."
