The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

Is it a coup d'état? Can an illegitimate leader be deposed, or is it simply the natural progression of a stolen election that has degraded the entire concept of legitimacy? And the reality of the Biden "presidency" is even more sordid. He was not only the beneficiary of a massive vote-stealing effort, it was at the behest of those behind him, with the full knowledge that Joe Biden would be president in name only, and would govern as a puppet, beholden to and at the mercy of his marionettists...in this case the Obama wing of the Democrat party.

That Joe Biden is no longer a useful stooge -- pretending to be a kind elder statesman -- and has been discarded is a logical step in the Democrat Junta's drive to govern via a shadowy super-government. Obama's minions are ascendent, but in a few years? Who knows! Maybe Soros' spawn will be able to buy and coerce and threaten enough of the power brokers to become the new marionettist.

No matter. The post-democratic, post-voting, new authoritarianism of the Democrat party has been exposed because Joe Biden's galloping dementia could not be controlled for a few more months. We now see them in all of their sordid glory...subverting the will of the people, manipulating the office of the president of the United States, carefully presenting a voting simulacrum to their gullible flocks of semi-sentient blocs as if they had any say in the matter at hand...choosing the Democrat candidate for president. It is laughable, but they seem to be buying it, so who are we to complain?

By protecting Biden long enough for him to win enough primaries to get the nomination, they have subverted the intent of the primary process and their own rules. They have catapulted a braying ass to the top of the heap, and now their job is to create a Potemkin village at the Democrat convention in Chicago, so their sheep can look at a pretty picture of a vibrant "democracy" at work.

And it will work! But then comes the difficult part: how to convince an increasingly suspicious public that Chlamydia Harris isn't what they have seen (a jabbering, incoherent fool) but is something different...an intelligent and competent candidate with a strong plan to move America forward.

That's going to take some work, and there is a man named Donald Trump who is standing in the way of that hilarious image.

As much as we are offended by the parallels with every crappy dictatorship in human history, the reality is that they may have done America a favor. Without a contested primary season, there are no battle-hardened candidates; only Harris, who has been protected by the media, and a list of possible vice-presidential candidates who are similarly wet behind the ears and have not been exposed to a national examination of their records.

The structure of the 2020 steal is still in place, but we have been forewarned, and the economic, cultural, and foreign policy disasters of the current administration can be pinned squarely on Chlamydia Harris.

Now if we only knew whether our current president is recovering from "Covid," or is in a coma...or worse...we might be able to get on with the work of reelecting Donald Trump! Because knowing who is running this administration may be a very important question in the next few months.

Meh.

You can call it a "counter-coup" if you want, or a "follow-on coup" or somesuch. Biden is there because of a coup (two actually - first the intra-Party coup where they selected him after the factions' preferred candidates imploded, then the second was the steal), and he was removed through a coup. Both coups were real, and at the end of the day, he was in the big chair. Success breeds its own legitimacy. The government is, by and large, *legally* illegitimate, but that doesn't matter.

This goes one of two ways, I think.
1. The hagiography machine spins up fast and they go hard at a Harris win and the steal fires on all cylinders.

2. The Party is going to refocus on down-ballot races and let Trump win, which I have thought is a possibility for a long time now. The Party didn't have a Biden Problem, it had a Biden/Harris Problem. Harris sucks, and everyone knows it. They could probably pull her over the line, of course, but what do they gain?

I think the VP pick for her will be interesting and informative. If it's a rising star or a major player, it'll be an indicator that they're going for the gold. If it's someone like Boot-edge-edge, then I think they're not going to try too hard because they're burning out the obstacles and settling family business, with Trump Containment as an acceptable cost.

What I don't know, and haven't seen anyone tell, is who is in charge of the Obama wing. Some on the right have an inflated view of SCOAMF. I am of quite the opposite opinion. Barama has precisely one ability: that of posing and speaking as the fulfillment of the chattering class's fantasies. We have schadenboners; they have Obamaboners.

They poured a ton of effort into Harris, too. She was the top candidate for Kalorama, he was the backup plan. Both self-detonated in 2020 and performed miserably because they're both stupid, vain, incompetent and sinister dickheads.

There are people in the Party - and Harris is certainly one of them and I suspect Boot-edge-edge is another - who need to be purged to clear the road for a retry. If they pick another also-ran to be her VP, or a dishwater-dull irrelevancy, I think they might be clearing out the deadwood. If they pick somebody relevant for VP, I think they're going to go hard at it for real and try to install Harris.

We'll see how it plays out.

The last vid of him is him stumbling off AF1 and then not being able to get into the SUV. It's hard to see what's going on because of the camera angle, but you can see him shaking while trying to get in. His body then goes limp and the SS guys literally pick him up and put him in the car. I think he was practically unconscious at that point.

That was the final straw for the Dems. They then staged what was literally a coup. I doubt Biden even knows he dropped out. His supposed call-in to Kneepads was deepfake bullshit.

If he was even remotely presentable, they would at least have a still shot or short video. The fact that we haven't seen a glimpse of him in a week strongly suggests he's in a coma or hooked up to tubes and machines.

I never said they would. The "way out" of that doom loop left all of those countries fallen and all had to be reformed and rebuilt by the next guy.

Their "next guys" had a *relatively* easy job of it, because Big Papa America was there as a backstop, so relatively few people starved or ended up in a mass grave as a result.

We don't have that backstop. It will be uglier. But the "the way out is that the country falls" is still where my bet would be if I were a betting man.

To the extent that presidents ever really ran things (there are plenty of stories about how Washington was led around by Jefferson and Hamilton in his administration), I think Clinton was the last guy who had any real operational control.

I know people don't want to hear that, because it means Trump wasn't really in control, but I believe that is also self-evident. There are about 30,000 post offices in the United States, and at least 100 federal buildings of notable size. There are also a couple of hundred Federal courthouses and several thousand other buildings, not to mention military installations.

The last vid of him is him stumbling off AF1 and then not being able to get into the SUV. It's hard to see what's going on because of the camera angle, but you can see him shaking while trying to get in. His body then goes limp and the SS guys literally pick him up and put him in the car. I think he was practically unconscious at that point.

If he was even remotely presentable, they would at least have a still shot or short video. The fact that we haven't seen a glimpse of him in a week strongly suggests he's in a coma or hooked up to tubes and machines.

I agree. He had some sort of "event" as there is no way they would whisk him away and put him in isolation for a simple covid diagnoses. Especially with him not wearing a mask like he had done every previous time he tested positive for covid in the past. Uh, no, RFK, that's not how this works.

That deficit - every year - dumps into GDP. It's part of the GDP equation. Government spending counts as addition, not subtraction and there is no distinction between reserve spending, pay-go spending and deficit spending. That deficit, every year, was a *part* of the GDP number posted. It doesn't matter how unproductive it is, it counts.

The point, RFK, is that we *can't* keep spending those dollars anymore because we already spent too many of them that we didn't have. Those dollars can't be reallocated from "wasteful" to "productive" (even assuming the qualitative assessment is correct, which it isn't) because we don't have the damn dollars. We have to spend *fewer* dollars. A lot fewer.

I don't think the bike market itself is shrinking. Just the opposite. I think the market for crap bikes sold solely on nostalgia is shrinking. The younger gens weren't raised on HD mystique and don't care. They are buying GSXs and RSVs. Ducati and MV Agusta at the high end.

HD did make some great, classic, and innovative bikes many decades ago. That was before my time too. My grandfather had one. I was raised on the new generations of Japanese "rice rockets." They were far superior and took over the market. But HD had a very effective marketing/branding department and got lots of miles on the "made in USA" fetish.

I think deficit spending should be subtracted from GDP, if not all government spending.

The argument is that government spending still requires production, and so government spending - a reallocation - still counts. There is something to that argument and I go back-and-forth on it. I think government spending should probably count, but with a deflator because it's inefficient.

But *deficit* spending should be a flat subtraction from GDP. It's purchasing - and therefore economic activity - with no basis but hope. There often isn't a single asset involved anywhere in the debt chain. It should be subtracted. It is consumption, not production, no matter what.

Respectfully, I think this is a bad comparison.

A lot of that below-decks crew knew what was happening, and they stayed on duty to keep things working as long as humanly possible to give passengers the best shot possible of escaping. The black gang kept shoveling coal into the furnaces until beyond the point that they were waist-deep in water to keep the lights on and the electrical equipment working. They knew they were going to die, and they worked until they literally couldn't anymore to keep the systems running for as long as possible.

Our administrative cogs are nothing like those men. The first time the floor got damp, they'd run for high ground and muscle passengers out of the way to claim the lifeboat for themselves.

I recall in one of those elections, maybe for the Scoamf, or Kerry or somebody like that, the numbers were something over 50% voted for the Democrat, when using self-identification, but when it came to actual mass attending, real Catholics, the R candidate got something over 80%.

I had an RD750 Yamaha that was ridiculously awful. Heavy and unreliable. Next was a Triumph Trophy 650 and it was a blast! Highest HP to weight bike until Kawasaki brought out their 2 stroke Mach 750.

Honda blew it all up with the CB-750/four and a couple years later, with the 1st gen Gold Wing, a four cylinder, 1000cc opposed four.

The '81 Gold Wing Interstate package, was the first Jap bike you could park next to an Electra Glide, that comparable in visual aspect, at all. Before that, (and post Indian) all the other bikes looked like toys.

506 I've been a biker for over 50 years. I wear a bucket. I've gotten off at 70 mph. Helmet took a severe trashing, my head did not.

I typically rode with a hat. Texas was on and off about the law back then. Not sure what it is now. I had a sister that worked at a rehab ward in Houston and she said most of her patients were survivors of motorcycle wrecks and the ones that had no helmet head injuries were dominant in number.

Currency swaps is not a panacea for a reserve currency. Simply put, no country is willing, especially in multiple economies where people have little trust in others, to magnify those swaps to the degree that a true BRICs organization requires. It also creates problems with where the currency swaps are reciprocal between individual countries and not using a universal currency. That leads to imbalances between the reciprocal relationship of inflows and outflows and often requires side agreements to use a third country's currency to clear differences when the inflow and outflow of a particular country's currency comes from balance of trade problems.

Simply put, the larger the Brics organization is, the more ineffective it will be unless China is willing to make their currency the new reserve currency for the bloc and that will in turn eviscerate their industrial economy as it did to Britain and the US.

Not so sure. Logistically, the US economy relies on an elaborate food (and goods such as medicine, power, etc.) distribution network that just might break down in unrest.

The usual period of time to adjust and shift would be about 6 months to one year but people have to live,be fed, get their medicines, etc. during a time when none of that can be assumed.

There is no deus ex machina that will provide sustenance in the short run if we have societal breakdown. This will be particularly acute in cities but suburbs are going to take a big hit as well. How much disturbance depends on external events such as foreign wars or possibly how a US internal war occurs. Cities are usually nodes of transportation for our system to work--both rail, air, and roads. What happens to our goods distribution if they become no go savage zones.

Yep. Few nations aside from the US would be silly enough to want their currency to be the world reserve currency. UK was for awhile but its colonial system coexisted with that and made balance of trade problems a bit easier to deal with.
