Another short one this week, guys and gals. As I alluded to in the title above, I am on a sooper sekrit mission to an undisclosed location on the North Carolina coast where we're meeting an old friend for a week. The plan is for the girls to go sightseeing and shopping during the day, leaving FSJ and me to guard the house, smoke cigars, enjoy dog treats, and otherwise goof-off. Insightful Weasel Political Commentary and Analysis on Biden Campaign Developments Hahahahahahahahahaha! Suck it, Dems! Kinda crapped in your mess kit, didn't you? P.S. Guns of The Horde Another bigly excellent submission by out pal Ed L, this week on the Colt Model 1909 Revolver ![]() ![]() Colt Model 1909 Revolver By 1905, the US Army committed itself to the path that led to the M1911 and the newly introduced .45 Automatic Colt Pistol (ACP) round. But even with the genius of John Browning and the engineers at Colt, that path took much longer than US Army Ordinance wanted. Fighting with the Moros in the Philippines demonstrated that the US Army badly needed a more modern .45 caliber sidearm than the Colt Single Action Army revolvers dragged out of retirement. Delays in development pushed US Army Ordinance to procure Colt New Service revolvers. In December 1908, US Army Ordinance ordered 6,000 Colt New Service Revolvers as an interim weapon until the new semiautomatic pistol was ready to enter service. Since the New Service was already in production for the commercial market, US Army Ordinance simply ordered revolvers right off the production line with relatively small changes. In all, the US Army took delivery of 19,503 revolvers. 19,153 were shipped to the Manila Ordinance Depot, where they were issued to troops in the field. The remaining 350 were shipped to Springfield Armory, MA. The USN took delivery of 1,000 revolvers. The USMC received 1,300. It's known that one of the Springfield Armory revolvers took part in the November 1910 pistol trials between the Colt and Savage prototypes as a control. ![]() ![]() The stylized circular monogram with the letters "WGP" on the right side of the revolver beneath the rear sight are the initials of Major Walter G. Penfield, the military "Inspector of Ordinance" assigned to Colt. Since Major Penfield took over this position on January 2, 1911, his final acceptance stamp identifies this revolver as being delivered in 1911. The serial number indicates that Colt delivered this revolver in late winter or spring 1911, as the 1911 pistol trials wrapped up. It's unlikely that Major Penfield was at Colt during this time. From August 1909 through April 1911, Major Penfield served on multiple review boards under board chair Lieutenant Colonel John T. Thompson evaluating and writing reports on the prototype pistols submitted by Colt and Savage for Ordinance testing. Therefore, it's quite likely that his civilian deputy, Rinaldo A. Carr, performed most, if not all, inspection and acceptance functions during this period. His initials, "R.A.C." are stamped on all major components of the revolver, indicating provisional acceptance of the part prior to final assembly. Note the bright "fire blue" finish on the protruding pin contrasting with the finish of the rest of the revolver. The high condition of this example indicates that this pistol did not go to the Philippines or see much action. ![]() Military specific requirements included walnut grips vice the hard rubber of the commercial models, military markings, and the serial number on the bottom of the butt as shown in the photo. The final shipment of Model 1909 revolvers left Colt on September 26, 1911, with the M1911 waiting in the wings. Sources:Thank you so much for this Ed L! Good evening fellow enthusiasts.
Wish I had something to report but no range time this week. Last week the almost new Holosun green dot on my Glock failed to turn on. I did not have the right size battery so was unable to get it going while Blaster was there to help. I now have proper batteries but have yet to tackle changing old for new. I did get the solar backup to work and actually read the directions so hopefully I will get the ridiculous number of hours I am supposed to get from the new battery. A Navy SEAL. Note giant watch - pay special attention to this guy.
I am experiencing some cognitive dissonance. Previously, Weasel has expressed some reservations, inching up toward the border of slight disdain, toward watches > 42 or possibly 43 mm in diameter. And yet here, he is instructing us to pay special attention to this guy, not because of his achievements besting the BUDs Obstacle Course, with obstacles (for example) named "The Belly Buster" and (my personal favorite for aptness of name)"The Dirty Name" , but because of the size of his watch. Was very hot at the rifle match, but still quite fun. New guy running it has all the right instincts. He wants high round count, lots of movement, and practical targets. Today did not reflect all of this but he definitely is open to fixing some things.
One amusing thing was that in my squad the only people who hit the 175-yard spinner (pretty small steel circle) were those with iron sights. Including me, with an M1. Everyone enjoyed my humorous suggestion at the briefing that we improvise to include a stage firing from a gently sloping roof - DESPITE the danger involved. Question I've been wanting to ask on the Gun Thread: Do we know for sure what gun Lee Tardy Oswald used? Last I heard was AR-15 "style" and Brandon Herrera used an AR-15 for his video, but I haven't seen a definitive answer.
--------- No. Sean Davis @seanmdav Here’s an abbreviated list of extremely basic factual questions about the Trump assassination attempt that for some reason haven’t been definitively answered (anonymous leaks don’t count): 1) What make, model, and caliber of firearm was used, and when/where/by whom was it purchased? 2) What make and model of ammo was used (including the weight of the bullet used)? 3) Did the rifle used have any type of magnified optic or red dot sight on it, and if so, what make/model, and what exact setting was the optic on when the shooter used it? 4) Have authorities put identical rounds through the rifle with the identical optics settings and confirmed both the zero and the result of shots fired at the range at which they were fired on Saturday? 5) How many shell casings were recovered from the crime scene? How many remaining rounds were in the magazine that was found in the rifle? 6) How many rounds were fired by the shooter on the warehouse rooftop? Has each round been accounted for (i.e., do investigators know where each round landed, and does the number of bullets found or accounted for match the number of shell casings found? 7) Have investigators confirmed, via the recovered bullets and the known trajectory of the bullets, that the shooter on the rooftop fired each one? 9) Have investigators reviewed video surveillance of the shooter at all various locations he recently visited (e.g., gun range, gun dealer, restaurants, traffic cameras, etc.)? If so, have they canvassed and interviewed each person seen with the shooter? These aren’t difficult questions to answer. These are usually the types of details promptly provided by authorities in the days following shocking, violent events of national importance. My thoughts today about guns are these. Take an off the rack S&W M&P AR, straight stock $650 rifle, put a mid level scope, say 4 to 9 on it, use range ammo, a little practice from a bench, and then, from prone, out at about 160 yards, hit a target the size of a pineapple that is moving just a little.
Can you hit that pineapple with the first shot? Can you exhale, get that heart rate down a little, calmly squeeze, and do it? Posted by: Mr Gaga at July 21, 2024 07:16 PM (uf0HO) 129

Like is done after every dang terror attack, mass shooting, tragedy (train derailment, etc.) or weather event. I'm becoming more convinced that my speculation a few weeks ago will be correct.
Whitmer and Shapiro both want to run for President in 2028. The only way that is possible is Harris losing to Trump in 2024. Whitmer announced today she will not compete for the 2024 nomination. Both Pennsylvania and Michigan will be cleaner than the wind driven snow this year. Harris can't win without MI, PA, and WI. Trump will carry them both easily. If (when) there is cheating in those states, it will be in the Senate races. Posted by: Dave in Fla at July 21, 2024 07:18 PM (LjKNJ) 131

I went to the range yesterday. My last outing was truly heinous, so I'd lost my motivation. Last Saturday night, I found it again.
I took the 1911 and the Sig. I put about 60-70 rounds through the 1911, starting off inconsistent - but on paper, at least - and ended with the last 5 rounds right down Broadway. I *can* do it. Sometimes... I was going slower than usual, concentrating on a smooth, straight trigger pull and tightening up my bottom 3 fingers (but not TOO tight). But I still do a little better when I speed it up just a tad and don't overthink. I figured I'd leave on a high note and didn't even take out the Sig. Shooting stuff - competition - Steel Shoot ar our range. sra blaster and I continued not being last! We are both starting to feel way more comfortable with this competition, and its a lot of fun. Great way to work on the fundamentals.
Also, the people who make the courses seem toenjoy making you mess with your round counts -ie, they say something like 42 rounds in 3 mags however you want. And then the course will have a natural reload point at 18 rounds. To catch all the people with 17 rounders. With my stock P226 mags at 15, I was getting caught by their setups more often. I'd react to the Sunday news cycle, but I've been heads-down dealing with the debris cleanup from the Friday News cycle ever since it happened. Some days it does not pay to work in IT. The phantasmagoria of the recent fortnight leaves one unanchored, puzzled, and strangely elated. A happy Herzog is a new experience for me. I gaze in the mirror and question my sensory perceptions. Is that a smile? Does it look like that? Was this the face that greeted Klaus Kinski when he rushed from the dressing room that I had only just set to flame? Is that tartar? Shall I consult a dental hygienist? Must Werner floss?
An assassin thwarted, and the departure of a molding Kartoffel from the campaign - these are events of great joy. Sometimes, when I am pressuring Christoph Waltz to abandon the heretic Tarantino or hurling stones at Angela Merkel to chasten her for not being more like America's Sweetheart, the fetching and comely Doris Day, I find myself thinking that there is hope for the future. (But not Merkel - she knows what she did.) Trump/Vance 2024: it has a ring to it. Is this optimism? Does hope feel like this? I am too German to be sure. Ach, check out Criterion and peruse my canon of works. Posted by: Werner Herzog Watches The News at July 21, 2024 07:25 PM (tmPIh) 176

Shooting adjacent: blaster's bugout truck. It has been non-op since May I think. Got cut off by a Marylander (grr) and had to stab the brakes which burst a line, and its been through a full refit - all hard lines and calipers. But lots of lights on the dash remained. All the non-op time ended up with dead battery, flat tire, ran out of gas while idling, and some other stuff. The truck does NOT like sitting.
So, I worry a bit about the gubs that have become safe queens now as we have focused on just shooting our competition guns for the past couple of months. I also schlepped Jesse's model 1917 rifle to the range/store to drop it off for a good professional cleaning. I fired it for the first time a couple months ago, but the empty brass wouldn't eject (it wasn't bad technique on my part, the same thing happened to a very experienced shooter). No way I'd trust myself to clean a special gun like that. So in #2weeks or so maybe it will be fully operational again.
After shooting, I picked up a couple boxes of ammo and got into conversation with the range dudes. 12 gauge shotguns may have been mentioned and next thing I know, they're handing me 3 different ones to handle. Of course, the one that fit my short arms the best was over $1000, which is way more than I can (or want to) put down for a shotty. But I got some good info and it was fun talking to the nice range dudes. Posted by: screaming in digital at July 21, 2024 07:35 PM (iZbyp) 204

-------- I don't know if this answers that but... @amuse @amuse SIMULATION PROVES ONE SHOOTER: @BillAckman shared a video by @chrismartenson claiming there were two. I believe Martenson is wrong and that Thomas Matthew Crooks was the sole shooter. Here's why: 1. First Three Shots: Crooks took his first three shots from the prone position, with his head and shoulders exposed over the rooftop peak. He aimed carefully, with his first shot hitting the president in the ear. These shots were controlled and disciplined. 2. Next Five Shots: Crooks' next five shots were also from the prone position, but it seemed he pulled back slightly to make his head and shoulders less exposed to the counter-sniper. This would change the sound since the rifle was farther behind the rooftop peak. These shots were taken wildly and without control. [...] Posted by: andycanuck (wse2C) at July 21, 2024 07:35 PM (wse2C) 207
@amuse @amuse
The counter-sniper who fired the .50 caliber round that hit Crooks stated that by the time he had him in his sights, he could only see Crooks’ gun scope and the top of his eye and forehead as most of his body was obscured by the top of the roofline. 3. Second Shooter Theory: If there was a second shooter intent on hitting Trump, why would he have fired so wildly? He was never seen by the counter-snipers and was never discovered. Why wouldn't he shoot in a controlled and disciplined manner? It doesn’t add up. Moreover, why was he "allowed" to escape instead of being eliminated to ensure his silence? Convincing people of two shooters wouldn't be any more difficult than convincing them of one. 4. Audio Analysis: Robert C. Maher, a gunfire acoustics expert at Montana State University in Bozeman, analyzed the gunshots. He found that two bursts of shots were fired. Both the first round of three shots and the second of five shots were fired approximately 330 to 390 feet from the C-SPAN microphone Trump was speaking into. This location matched the suspect’s position. Posted by: andycanuck (wse2C) at July 21, 2024 07:35 PM (wse2C) 208
@amuse @amuse
There was no significant difference in the sound of the eight shots, suggesting they likely came from the same firearm. 5. Flawed Audio Evidence: Chris Martenson, PhD, relied on audio that showed differences of 30ms. This audio went through multiple rounds of compression on devices with unknown latency, using a mic with directionality (given tonality differences), on a device facing several different directions throughout the clip. iPhones and Android phones use DSPs to process, predict, and filter sounds, focusing on various sources. This reliance on multiple uncontrolled audio sources likely caused the discrepancies. Based on these points, it’s clear to me that there was only one shooter: Thomas Matthew Crooks. https://tinyurl.com/7pycv9wb 1:58 minutes Posted by: andycanuck (wse2C) at July 21, 2024 07:35 PM (wse2C) 209

I asked this last week and didn't see an answer, so I"ll try again.
One of the famous photos of the assassination attempt was of all the SS agents on top of Trump while he was down on the podium. This photo shows the backside of a male agent, and his jacket was flopped up and over his gun and holster. The holster was a square box, OTW of course, and what looks like either a Glock or Sig grip sticking out with an extended mag. The holster looks like it's a metal box and seems really unwieldy and difficult to pull a gun out of. Does anyone know what it is? Posted by: jen the original at July 21, 2024 07:49 PM (oe5jS) 253
So, range report: Upcoming 1,000 yard match and the rifle was at the "do I clean or not clean stage." So, I cleaned, then headed to the range to foul the barrel and check zero. Rifle was good but, I wasn't all that impressed with the mini practice session.
And then, the next day, I hit the range for the match. I was nervous because I'd shot an 85 the prior match and knew how quickly an 85 could go to 65. Things just go south some times and there isn't much one can do about it. I shot a 91. I was absolutely thrilled. I wasn't last and, in fact, was very middle of the pack. But, can I continue my upward trajectory? We shall see. Posted by: blake - semi lurker in marginal standing (tT6L1) at July 21, 2024 07:49 PM (tT6L1) 254

SiD, at the Chantilly show this weekend, I saw one vendor who had what looked like a bunch of ex-police issue Remington 870 riot guns for $250 each. The old school 870s (i.e. pre-Freedom Group days) are considered quality shotguns. If you can hack the heavy recoil from 00 buckshot, they might fit the bill for you.

This week I hit the range, and was, for the first time, actually happy with my shooting with my favorite pistol. Have I finally left the flinches and anticipation behind? Or was it because I went with foam earplugs and an over-ear rig, because last time the indoor range hurt my ear? Either way, I'll take it.
Then I absolutely sucked with a pistol I shot just fine last time. My working theory is that, unlike the other gun, it had iron sights, and I am way overdue for a new glasses prescription, plus my style has changed to bring the pistol in closer, rather than locking my elbows, so I probably went outside the focal range. Most of what sucked was in the vertical dimension. Time will tell. What does not change is that I have a great time every time I go shooting. Posted by: Splunge at July 21, 2024 08:03 PM (hmKaK) 324

Whoa, I can talk about food on the gun thread? Gotta do it, it feels so naughty. Today I made something I'd wanted to try for a while, a Fuchsia Dunlop recipe for Thick Fish Soup, from her Land of Fish and Rice book, which covers the Hangzhou area. I went there once, and their food is like Chinese comfort food, very soothing. Lion's Head meatballs come from there. This was soothing like that, shreds of fish and dried mushroom and bamboo shoot in a slightly thickened soup. Mrs. Splunge and I both have some sort of stomach bug, and it was just the thing.
On topic, though, once I'd eaten some soup, I went and cleaned my gun. The serious cleaning, MPro-7 to get everything off, including the oil, then re-oiling. I've now got my hands on enough strategically shaped plastic thingies to make it easier to clean out the grooves and crevices really well after brushing. Put another 100 rounds through the PSA Micro-Dagger yesterday. Accuracy is comparable to Bubba Fly, my G17. Both tools have similar red dots (as for size) meaning accuracy with my eyesight at 25 yard is not great with the dot covering the target entirely. I do prefer smaller 3 or even 1 MOA dot over the bigger 5+ MOA dot.
Side by side comparisons, the G17 feels huge in my hands in comparison, even with a recontour and stipple job on Bubba Fly. If I can find my 15 round magazines I purchased legally before WA state's normal-capacity magazine ban, having 15 rounds in that size factor is...very interesting. Also have new IWB holster for the Micro-Dagger. We'll see how it carries and how I can draw+fire with it. Guns are good, guns are fun, guns are life for a citizen. Weasel: "P.S. You can even talk about food if you like!"
You're a prince among men, Weasel. I posted this in the "Trump PAC" thread earlier since we didn't get a food thread today, but I've embellished it some. This is a lovely "pork spice" recipe we use in our home all the time on pork (loin and chops) and it is absolutely heavenly how the meat tastes using this. 3 parts onion powder 1 part garlic powder 1 part black pepper 1 part celery salt 1 part ground sage Mix thoroughly in a small bowl, then use a funnel to fill a medium sized spice shaker. (We use a 5" tall shaker with 9 x 1/8" holes in the top.) Pork loin: Coat the top (fatty side) with the pork spice and cook in the oven. Pork chops on the grill: Place chops on grill, coat the top sides generously with the pork spice. When you flip the chops over, coat the other side the same as you did before. Add no more spice from this point forward, just cook until done and serve. Adjust amount of spice you use to your personal taste for future meals. SiD, I heartily endorse Ed's advice on the old-school 870. There are some shotguns that have so much barrel out in front of the balance point that they pull forward if your arms are short. We have a very nice Beretta that's just never going to work for my wife, and she's not tiny. The 870 doesn't have that reputation.
The buttstock of an 870 can be made an inch or so shorter by any decent gunsmith (or carpenter), and that is likely to take care of the hold and reach issue for you. Police riot guns usually have the shortest legal barrel, so that's on your side. Finally, 12 gauge used to kick like a mule, all the guys said. But there are all sorts of loads now, and you can keep trying lighter ones until it feels right. Best thing? In olden times, a gun like that remained reliable until it was just completely shot out, so a good used one is not likely to be 'touchy.' Newer ones, not so much. Huh. So we have the Magic Sniper situation. One reports puts a sniper in the building on the 2nd floor, another has a sniper somewhere else. - FWIW multiple people reported the 2nd story SS snipers. Two examples were linked above. The second link is a MSM source and they were told directly by the SS: "It's been explained to me that having an officer on the roof might've obstructed the sniper position inside the window of the building." Which confirms their presence. Posted by: Moron Robbie promises not to say told you so about the tranny shooter at July 21, 2024 08:27 PM (C38z1) 418

SiD,
Do you have any friends with a little property in the country? You don't need much room at all to safely practice with a shotgun. I can't remember your area of the country, but if you do it during duck season or pheasant season, no one will even bat an eye. IMO you should measure the actual distance from your hiding spot in your house to where you would engage a shooter. I suspect it will be much closer than you think. Practice your shotgun at that range. All three of my daughters easily shot a 12-gauge before they reached 100 lbs. I think the recoil is only a problem when people do not have the buttstock snugged up into their shoulder. New shooters that are too wary to hold the gun snugly DO get popped pretty hard. The 2 SS teams are behind Trump. One set we see to his right on top of the building behind him. There is another set to his left we do not see in any of the videos. This is the team that took the shooter out. What is NOT clear is where the two local sniper teams were. Were the people inside the AGR complex on the second floor a sniper team? Big, big downside of shotguns in the home defense role: muzzle blast and flash. Your typical 12-gauge 00 buckshot load will produce a massive muzzle flash and painfully loud muzzle blast that's only magnified in confined spaces typical of an American home. You may well be deaf and blind after unleashing a rough equivalent of a flash-bang grenade less than two feet from your face. That doesn't portend well if you have to take follow up shots. And you probably won't have time to put on hearing protection in a typical self-defense situation indoors. If firing a shotgun on an indoor range isn't something you'd like to repeat, you might want to consider alternatives like a pistol caliber carbine that's easier on your eyes and ears. If you're gonna use that recipe as a rub, and put it on early and let it set awhile as opposed to dusting it just before the cook, I'd add salt and sugar (white and brown mixed). Take pretty much that volume of your spice mix, and add that volume again maybe 1/4 salt and the rest half and half white and brown sugar. That makes a decent foundation for any pork rub.
But you can't go wrong with sage and pork together, especially if the sage is the highlight of the show. I wanna try it now. Posted by: Warai-otoko at July 21, 2024 08:52 PM (BAEGB) 493
Would the SS' .300 have been suppressed?
Posted by: Moron Robbie promises not to say told you so about the tranny shooter at July 21, 2024 08:37 PM (C38z1) I'm gonna go with yes, considering the massive suppressors in the pictures I've seen of the snipers. Posted by: Splunge - That's my thought, too. But the final round after ten or so seconds pass is still a pretty decent crack, isn't it? I know the suppressed rifle will have a report, but that seems similar to the unsuppressed .223 (assuming that's what the tranny used). I've only been around a suppressed hunting rifle once and it was surprisingly quiet (to the point where hearing protection wasn't really needed), so I assume the SS would have nicer equipment. Who knows what kind of rounds they were using and if they were supersonic, though. Ed, I was a couple feet away from a negligent discharge of a 12 gauge a few years ago. Jesse wrote about it here on the gun thread. I don't remember what type of ammo it was. It was... not pleasant, obviously, and I would never want anything like a repeat experience. The hearing loss was, for me, sort of like being at a heavy metal concert; lasted for a few hours.
I don't mean to minimize the hearing or other effects. Just to say I have experienced a shotgun blast right next to me without hearing protection. Thank God the ceiling was the only casualty. Posted by: screaming in digital at July 21, 2024 08:53 PM (iZbyp) 495

One of my cousins might have enough land and they are gub friendly. He's in poor health though. Posted by: screaming in digital at July 21, 2024 08:35 PM That should work. You can literally use anything that can hold a piece of paper as your target holder. (Just nothing with heavy steel that can rebound a close range shot back at you.) P.S. Sorry to hear about your cousin. I just lost my favorite uncle, and he was a great outdoorsman. P.P.S. If you are in duck-hunting country, do NOT use steel shot for practice. (Which is what will be on the main shelves at Walmart.) I would start with a box of lighter quail/dove loads until you get very comfortable with your eventual shotgun. Then switch to your home defense rounds. Both should impact at essentially the same point since you will be shooting at very close range. If you're OK w/ a shotgun as you HD weapon, check out your local range/store to see what they have on offer. If you can locate one nearby, see what a gun show has on offer. If you can, have someone at the range measure your length of pull (i.e. your reach to the foregrip/pump action of the shotgun). That might help you narrow down your search quite a bit based on product dimensions. Posted by: Ed L at July 21, 2024 09:01 PM (yRXSd) 517

Posted by: hart at July 21, 2024 06:52 PM (yFtHm) Depends greatly on what you can shoot well, and how you're carrying, and what you like. Most any modern .38 Special revolver snub-nose is going to work well for close encounters. So are the micro-compacts in 9mm, or an Officer 1911 (the 3-3.5 inche barrels) in 9mm or .45. I think most of your compacts are going to be .38, .380, or 9mm. For many people, .45 is a bit sporty from a really compact piece. M&P, S&W, Kimber will be your easy choices if money isn't a limiter. Last two I saw. Clark is bringing the ball up the court, opposing player moving backwards straight arms her in her face. No call. Clark dribbles past an opposing player who grabs then pulls her right arm. Caitlin flings her hand off and her hand comes close to the other players face. Other player pretends she got hit by her eye and ref calls a foul on Caitlin. Forget that the player committed a foul right in front of the ref when she grabbed Caitlin's arm at the elbow and yanked, Clark got the foul for shaking it off. WTF? Interesting thoughts about hearing protection and shotgun shooting.
I never wore any hearing protection quail hunting as a youth or young adult. I needed to hear my dogs working in the heavy cover, and could guess that when both stopped they were on a covey. After shooting once or twice on the covey rise, I do not recall any deafness when sending my dogs around to fetch downed birds or getting everyone organized to go hunt up the singles where they went back down. However, we were always shooting in wide-open spaces. Perhaps that makes all of the difference? (I have never shot a shotgun at an indoor range.) I've watched most of Clarks pro games. Early on she was getting played very physically without getting the calls she should have.
After that there came a time when the message went to let her play and her performance picked up sharply. She has become an amazing playmaker while continuing to struggle with her 3 point shot. Posted by: hart at July 21, 2024 09:13 PM (yFtHm) 564

SiD,
Everyone on the forum is a better home defense expert than I am. I just have lots of shotgun hunting experience. I think most of the tactical/home defense shotguns are 12 gauge, and are designed for men - because that is their main buying contingent. Nothing wrong with a quality non-tactical 20-gauge shotgun. Will be lighter for you to carry and aim. Will have less recoil. I think the stopping power would be the same on a bad guy - any significant hit is a stop! Haffhowershower,
I'm pretty sure that your great uncle had either a Colt or S&W Model 1917 revolver. These revolvers were cranked out by the tens of thousands for WWI, and used widely as secondary weapons in WWII and Korea. It's also possible that your great uncle's revolver was purchased commercially and brought along as a personal sidearm for the war. This was not unheard of in WWII. It's referenced in "Band of Brothers" Episode 1. Lee Marvin got a .45 Government Model (commercial 1911) sent to him by his family prior to his participation in the invasion of the Marianas as part of the USMC. The only way to know for sure is to check the revolver itself and its serial number. Both Colt and S&W have historical records that can tell you when the pistol was made, who it was shipped to, and any other special shipping info if you're willing to send them about $150. I ran across a burrow in my yard the other day. It is at ground level, going more or less horizontally into a big pile of dirt I dumped there years ago when I built my big shop. Opening of the burrow would accept a baked beans can. I don't think it's a gopher. Might be a weasel. Too small for a fox or a badger, I think. I should get a trail cam. I have had foxes on the place before. Pretty little animals; I like to see them.

I'm too young for peak Ali but I do remember late stage boxer Ali. I always felt bad for Larry Holmes. Holmes beat down Ali near the end of Ali's career as a boxer and I don't think the sports media ever forgave Holmes for that. Larry Holmes seemed ok, considering his vocation. Never heard much about him outside of boxing.

I never had an issue with Woods except for all the tongue bathes the media were giving him. Most of them would have left their wives or husbands and become Tiger's sex slaves. When Tiger won the Masters the last time, that CBS crew were practically throwing their panties at him.

You can't still believe that Biden got 81 million votes. Unless they are planning on releasing another pandemic and have some way of making everyone forget the price of groceries that happened under the Biden/Harris regime even some Democrats aren't so happy right now. Yea, it matters. That's why they just tossed the incumbent president. It's always been a myth that just because Democrats cheat they could run a dog turd and win. Hello gun thread. It's been a minute. I've continued the cigar habit but also now started to explore the wonderful world of pipe tobacco. My tastes run more on the heavy English blends and less to the aromatic blends. Good thing about pipe tobacco is its much cheaper and easier to store. A good entry point if you're a cigar smoker. The stilwell star series by dunbarten tobacco. A series of good Nicaraguan cigars rolled with various pipe blends.... All very good. I like the number one and number 22 both aromatic blends. Life is short smoke the cigar.

So what do they do when they have to get on the ballot in states where those legally binding dates have already passed? They nearly didn't get Creepy Joe on the ballot here in Ohio. That was a month or more ago...how do they get legal authority to get a new candidate on the ballot in all the 57 democrat states? You can't just put the fresh new nominee in to replace Sponge brain Shite Pants arbitrarily. There are filing deadlines and requirements. Those are going to be the single greatest obstacle to putting whatever funky they choose in August. That's leaving just part of August, all of September and October and a half week in November. Lots of states will be out of reach barring more Democrat cheating.
