Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Who's Really Making Decisions for the White House?Via Matt Vespa, Semafor has an article up about a source inside the White House. This source demands complete anonymity, but allows the reporter to say if he's (or she's) a serious person or not. The reporter claims he (or she) is a serous person. The claim is that all domestic policy decisions at the White House are being made by Biden's Inner Circle -- without Biden's input. Here is the assertion this person would like to get across: It's unclear even to some inside the West Wing policy process which policy issues reach the president, and how. Major decisions go into an opaque circle that includes White House chief of staff, Jeff Zients (who talks to the president regularly) and return concluded. (The big exception to this pattern, they said, is foreign policy.)Biden has been, as many have noted, wrong on every single major foreign policy question of the 20th and now the 21st century, still believes he's got a really good head for geopolitics. This is the strongest proof that he's demented. This pattern had already been a topic of discussion, and curiosity, among the high-powered aides who work in and around the White House. The rituals of paperflow are technical, but they say they're surprised by the lack of briefings to the president, and of readouts from consultations with the president and worry about the possibility of decisions "being made without him." My source has no reputation for being involved in factional fights on hot button issues, and no obvious ulterior motive for picking up the phone. "I'm super proud of the policies," the person said. "I'm talking to you because I'm incredibly upset and scared for the country and I would like to do what I can."As many are saying: Biden can't just withdraw from the race. If he's too demented to run for president, he's also too demented to continue acting as president. This is another big complication for Puerto Rican Joe -- he really can't just withdraw from the race. He has to face the reality that if he withdraws from the race, he must also become the first president in history to resign from the presidency due to his dementia and the cover-up of it. Biden's staffers are all on the hook for the cover-up, of course. No wonder they're determined to keep him in the race. What happens to them after Biden admits yes, I'm incapable of being president? He'll essentially be implicating them in a coup, as they were unconstitutionally running the country. Tough situation for the party that wants to Save Muh Precious Democracy. The left/Democrats are controlled by a large group of oligarchs, and like any other aristocracy this causes them problems both in changing course or any issue or even doing a halfway decent job of implementing some policy all the oligarchs agree on.
A talented, charismatic leader can somewhat paper over this but such an organization will revert to the mean of say Liberum Veto Poland. If there was an opposition party they'd target individual oligarchs with legislative initiatives that would either penalize or benefit individual oligarchs and either bribe them to our side or force them to fight with each other. If only such a party existed... Posted by: 18-1 at July 10, 2024 03:30 PM (oZhjI) 58

Biden's staffers are all on the hook for the cover-up, of course. No wonder they're determined to keep him in the race. What happens to them after Biden admits yes, I'm incapable of being president? He'll essentially be implicating them in a coup, as they were unconstitutionally running the country.
Lol...like they'd ever worry about consequences. If it ever got to some serious legal point (it won't), his staff would say "The President approved it and we executed ". Joe would say "I don't remember", everyone would believe him, and it would all be good. The White House senior staff is modeled after a general's staff, with a very powerful chief of staff. If the president/commander is very weak, the Chief will take over, run things, and greatly restrict access to the commander to reduce questions. That's what's happening here. It will all still look official...just the Chief of Staff and a few select department heads go in, consult the President like a secret oracle, and then come back with his decisions and pronouncements to execute. Yup. All of these a-holes need to go to prison. This is pretty much exactly a textbook definition of a coup. Not all coups are violent. And with all the damaging policies acting against the interests of America and her citizens, treason should probably be thrown into the mix. If found guilty, hanging should be in the offing. (The big exception to this pattern, they said, is foreign policy.)

You'd almost certainly have to do some sort of forensic determination of when Biden crossed the line of competency, and even then there's no real mechanism for invalidating the president's signature on an EO or bill based on incompetency (the Founders probably assumed anyone in Biden's position would have quit long before this became an issue).

Biden's staffers are all on the hook for the cover-up, of course. No wonder they're determined to keep him in the race. What happens to them after Biden admits yes, I'm incapable of being president? He'll essentially be implicating them in a coup, as they were unconstitutionally running the country.
++++ Easy: he won't. There are three possible outcomes here: 1. Biden runs and the Party steals it for him. There's a shakeup in the politburo as the Party tries to stabilize outward appearances. 2. Biden runs and the Party chooses to not steal it for him. He's out and done for, and the Party moves on to Trump containment just like last time, while leaving Trump holding the various shit-filled bags left around the government and economy. 3. Biden dies. That's it. The common theme on all three possibilities: no explanations, no liability, no acknowledgement of the problems. My money right now is on doors number 2 or 3, with 2 taking the edge. It's getting ugly out there. Lefty Propaganda Organs, seeing Dem chances collapsing, are going after everything Republican hammer and tongs. Trump gave a speech and The New Republic says they are "terrified" and he is "incoherent". Dave Weigel says PDJT intends to spend the next four years wreaking lawfare revenge, when he isn't deporting tens of millions of people to Mexico. Everything is fair game; the NYT even published a nasty gram attacking Mar-a-Lago.

Biden and the Dems would have zero shame with the "I'm too far gone to run a campaign but not too far gone to stay commander in chief!"
The most disheartening part is, if Biden does stay in the race, it will still be a somewhat close race. Even with top Dems saying he needs to step down. This should be a 40 state landslide, especially considering how good things were under Trump's watch, but it will still probably be a late night in a handful of swing states. Easy: he won't. There are three possible outcomes here:
There is a fourth. I don't know the probabilities but: Biden runs, they try the steal, but...things happen...and it falls short. They try to fall back on #2 at this stage, but the recriminations hamper the process, and enough got exposed in the process that now the tables are turned...to whatever extent is possible. All hell breaks loose. I have a nagging feeling this outcome is more likely than we think. And that, while not the worst outcome, neither is it a particularly good one. Biden's staffers are all on the hook for the cover-up, of course. No wonder they're determined to keep him in the race. What happens to them after Biden admits yes, I'm incapable of being president? He'll essentially be implicating them in a coup, as they were unconstitutionally running the country.
= In a serious country, every one of them would be looking at a noose. Beyond that, a serious country would consider the lack of legitimacy behind any "Presidential" order, or law passed bearing a signature Biden obviously didn't write. Posted by: Methos at July 10, 2024 03:59 PM (Dnobf) 297

Wade. I think many honestly thought it would mean an end to abortion, and now that it's not here, they want this national abortion ban even though the court said explicitly that it's now a state matter. I understand being frustrated that one's single issue is now being relegated to a secondary tier, but really, the fight is at the state level. Democrats quickly figured this out and got abortion amendments put into Ohio and Kansas constitutions within two years of RvW being overturned. Ohio and Kansas. Wake up pro-life movement. 294 There is a fourth.
I think large portions of the right didn't know what they were asking for in the overturning of Roe v.
By not pushing for a federal abortion ban? Something that would only get, maybe 25% support?
The pro-life movement needs to change with the times. Asking the federal GOP to hold up the abortion issue now is asking for failure theater, at absolute best. It's asking for empty promises in fundraising emails that the GOP could never follow up on because, again, abortion is now a state issue. The pro-life movement won at the federal level. Now it's time to make it a series of state wins to back it up. Failing to mount any kind of defense against ballot initiatives by well funded leftists to make abortion sacrosanct in state constitutions while screaming at Trump for not doing something he would have no power to do is not a winning strategy. I'm pro-life. I am amazed and grateful for what Trump was able to accomplish in that area. Up to that point, the impacts of pro-life organizations were largely fundraising and complaining. This problem is not going to get better - just worse. Biden looks worse than he did six months ago, and immensely worse than two years ago. The election ISN'T tomorrow. It is five months from now. He's got stage 3 Parkinson's. It takes just 24 months to go from stage 3-4.
Stage 3 is memory loss, language and problem-solving issues. Depression and anxiety. Periodic hallucinations and dementia. Facial expression issues. Strange posture and walking patterns. Balance issues. And yeah, Stage 4 is all of that but worse. Biden started looking stiff in 2020. He was stage 2 then. My guess is he entered stage 3 in 11/22 - that's when they first called in the Parkinson's expert. Stage 3 only lasts 24 months...it has been 17 months. By election time he'll be stage 4. He'll need a walker to get around at that point. Geroge f'n Clooney said something - if the problem was in the slightest way not already at the crises level, you think he'd say a peep?
