From ulstermuseum.com:
In a moment of recognition, two followers of Jesus Christ leap from their seats, scarcely able to believe their eyes. Their expressive gestures, outflung arms and deeply furrowed brows register their astonishment at the true identity of their supper companion. A fourth figure in the scene, standing beside Christ, shows no sign of realising who he is. Meanwhile, a basket brimming with overripe fruit teeters on the edge of the laden table. This dramatic subject is taken from the Bible, as told in the Gospel of Luke. Shortly after Christ’s death, two of his disciples set out from Jerusalem for the town of Emmaus. On the road, they encounter, but are unable to recognize, the resurrected Christ in the guise of a traveller. In the evening, he joins them for a meal at a humble inn. The painting depicts the moment at which, just as he breaks the bread, his true identity is revealed before he vanishes from sight. The artist Caravaggio planned the composition carefully, conveying meaning through light. Christ’s brightly illuminated disciples see and believe he has returned, while the impassive innkeeper, lost in shadow, does not share in this miraculous revelation. In a work like this, look at the clothing. Look at how contemporary the clothing is... except for the guy in red in the center. Notice how his clothing is more of how you'd think ancient Judean/Biblical clothing would look. That's a dead giveaway that that is Jesus (there are others too). While it was fine to dress figures from Bible stories in contemporary clothes, Jesus is almost NEVER done so. It symbolizes His separateness and eternalness.

Theme
Although it may be said that its main subject is proving the resurrection by the appearance of Jesus, this narrative seems not to say anything about proving the event. R. W. L. Moberly suggests that "the story is best understood as an exposition of the hermeneutical issue of discernment, focusing specifically on the question, 'How does one discern the risen Christ?'"[7] Alfred McBride says that the Emmaus narrative concerns "the evolution of the awareness of the two disciples, from despair over Christ's death to faith in his resurrection". Used to perceive Christian spiritual growth, this narrative is considered as a model for a Christians' own journey to a deeper faith and as an instrument to help others do the same journey.[8] ---- Wiki Posted by: andycanuck (ZdexC) at June 27, 2024 09:48 AM (ZdexC) 78

Wiki has the following:
Caravaggio had a fever at the time of his death, and what killed him was a matter of controversy and rumour at the time and has been a matter of historical debate and study since.[61] Contemporary rumors held that either the Tomassoni family or the Knights had him killed in revenge. Traditionally historians have long thought he died of syphilis.[61] Some have said he had malaria, or possibly brucellosis from unpasteurised dairy.[61] Some scholars have argued that Caravaggio was actually attacked and killed by the same "enemies" that had been pursuing him since he fled Malta, possibly Wignacourt and/or factions of the Knights. Unnamed disciple
Many names have been proposed for the disciple who accompanied Cleopas. Among those who have been suggested: Simon/Symeon, according to several documents and manuscripts; Ammaon/Amaon, which may be a spelling error for "Symeon", according to Saint Ambrose; Nathanael, according to Saint Epiphanius's Panarion; Nicodemus, according to the Arabic Apocryphal Gospel of John; Luke the Evangelist, according to the Book of the Bee; Philip the Deacon; James, brother of Jesus; and Mary, the wife (or possibly daughter) of Clopas, who is considered the same person as Cleopas.[14][15] John Gillman, in a Festschrift to Jan Lambrecht, writes that "Luke's failure to identify Cleophas' companion by either name or gender may well be a strategy of inviting the reader to identify implicitly with that person, and thus to make the journey as Cleophas' companion."[16] Posted by: andycanuck (ZdexC) at June 27, 2024 10:06 AM (ZdexC) 145

So, I came across a video of Tucker taking questions from an Australian reporter, and it was an interesting look at the broken logic of leftists.
It was supposed to be a Socratic line of questions, one answer leading to another, with the start being Tucker's calling into question the government's priority of foreigners over Americans as implicitly racist for being the Great Replacement theory which made him responsible for the Buffalo shooting which meant that to fix it he had to oppose gun control. The logical connections were simply broken, assumed, unproven, and silly nonsense, but the reporter treated them as deadly serious. I saw it as an example of someone who probably has a decently high IQ horribly maleducated about how logic actually works. Everything is supposed to be connected in her worldview, and just walking through the line of questions was amazingly stupid thought she acted like she was super smart. It was like live-action DU. Gorsuch points to the text, context, and history of the bankruptcy provision at issue. This was a case about whether the structure and enforcement powers of the Securities and Exchange Commission violate the Constitution. The case began as an administrative proceeding by the SEC against George Jarkesy, an investment adviser and the founder of a hedge fund. The SEC ruled that Jarkesy and his firm had committed securities fraud, and it ordered them to pay $300,000 in fines and nearly double that in repayments. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit agreed with Jarkesy and held that three different aspects of the SEC’s operations are unconstitutional.

Mr. Brower announced as of 5pm on Election Day: Votes Cast 14,152 Provisional Ballots 598 So at 5 PM on election day a grand total of 14,152 had voted in person. There were already 315,656 votes cast via early voting and PDT had about 20,000 (7%) lead over Uncle Joe. So somewhere north of 30,000 ballot counts, not ballots, were added to the records digitally. These are the ballots now FUCO seeks to destroy as they KNOW there are at least 17,000 paper ballots missing. https://tinyurl.com/3taf2443 Posted by: rhennigantx at June 27, 2024 10:20 AM (ENQN6) 209

There is an opinion from Justice Barrett, joined by the Chief and Justice Kavanaugh. They agree with the decision to dismiss it because of the extent to which, in their view, the case has changed since they agreed earlier this year to take it up. Moreover, they note, there is now a "difficult and consequential argument" in the case about whether the constitution would allow Congress to require Medicare recipients to "violate state criminal law."

So, we have a standing rule in the house that the kids cannot eat on the couch. I went downstairs to discover Junior on the couch with an open bag of a snack. For some reason, I did not believe him when he said that he had just wandered over to the couch with the empty bag in his hand and sat down after eating. I told him he wasn't allowed anymore TV today.
What does he do in response? He pulls out one of his CrunchLab builds, a little mechanism that shoots four red rubber balls with a trip wire, and sets it up so that I, should I not notice the black string two inches off the ground in front of the media room door, trip over it and get hit by four light, rubber balls. I used to by C-rats (MCI technically for you pedantic types) at the surplus store for camping. They were getting long in the tooth by then, though perfectly edible for the most part. Coffee, smokes, peanut butter and crackers, a good can of something or other usually. And chocolate. Maybe a pound cake and Pears. What more does an iron stomached bachelor need? Wish I had a temp controlled warehouse with them things.

Highland Park shooting suspect Robert Crimo III backed out of a plea deal with prosecutors that could have spared the loved ones of his alleged victims the torture of a drawn-out trial, changing his mind at the last minute during a dramatic court hearing. Crimo is accused of killing seven people and injuring 48 others during the 2022 July 4th Parade in Highland Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The 23-year-old was expected to plead guilty to seven counts of murder and 48 counts of aggravated battery during a court hearing in Lake County.|| Posted by: andycanuck (ZdexC) at June 27, 2024 10:48 AM (ZdexC) 307
