52 In a work like this, look at the clothing. Look at how contemporary the clothing is... except for the guy in red in the center. Notice how his clothing is more of how you'd think ancient Judean/Biblical clothing would look. That's a dead giveaway that that is Jesus (there are others too). While it was fine to dress figures from Bible stories in contemporary clothes, Jesus is almost NEVER done so. It symbolizes His separateness and eternalness.

He is. It was thought that the men were returning from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem (it was Passover). A seashell was, by Caravaggio's day, a symbol for pilgrims. It comes from the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Pilgrims would go to the beach after and grab a shell as proof of their trip. It became the universal symbol for pilgrims.

In SE Lousy-ana we always called it (and I still do) breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But then Mom was originally from western Canada and then the Orlando area, and her parents were from Sweden and Ruthenia (now in Ukraine, I think). Not sure what my friends called those meals.

Several years ago in Innsbruck I took the gondola up to the top of the mountain. There was then a very short path you could take by foot to reach the tippy top. I made it about 10 feet. The worst part was watching the 80-year-olds who had hiked the entire mountain zip past me with their walking sticks.

Did a similar thing at Mt Pilatus. I took the cog rail train up to the plateau which was a few hundred feet from the summit. That was as high as I was going.

Sat on the observation deck and watched all the hikers walk up the mountain to where I was sitting and then keep on going.

The highest I got up there was to the North Pole/Santa's Workshop Amusement Park on the lower slope. I don't recall a problem with the altitude -- I'd been living and working out in Denver for a year. But (in early December) it was cold, and a real cold front was moving in that day. I recall a sharp dark gray horizontal storm-line approaching in the northern sky as we drove back to Denver. And then temp dropped like a stunned condor that afternoon and evening.

Now, as Fossil Free Books, we are urging all UK literature festivals currently receiving sponsorship from Baillie Gifford to call on Baillie Gifford to divest.

Their protests are getting book festivals in the UK cancelled because one of the big sponsors invests in fossil fuel.
