New ALPR Vulnerabilities Prove Mass Surveillance Is a Public Safety Threat Government officials across the U.S. frequently promote the supposed, and often anecdotal, public safety benefits of automated license plate readers (ALPRs), but rarely do they examine how this very same technology poses risks to public safety that may outweigh the crimes they are attempting to address in the first place. When law enforcement uses ALPRs to document the comings and goings of every driver on the road, regardless of a nexus to a crime, it results in gargantuan databases of sensitive information, and few agencies are equipped, staffed, or trained to harden their systems against quickly evolving cybersecurity threats. I wonder about doing one with puppies...
Have someone look at pictures of puppies, then give them moral questions. See if the puppies make them receptive to bad things just because puppies.
Give some of them an additional phase where they're petting actual puppies, and see if they'll go further.
Or, maybe the puppies will actually make them reject all bad ideas? I could see it going either way.

This. Remember, Ringo isn't just some guy who grew up with John Lennon and kind of fell into the job. He had played some gigs with the band on occasions when Pete Best wasn't available and had impressed the band. When Best got the boot, they chose Ringo as his replacement.

I saved a copy of that video for awhile, from a boat in the harbor. Over 100,000 pounds of nitrate fertilizer stored in a huge harbor silo facility that detonated - incredible bit of video. For one thing, it was the best I’ve ever seen that showed the difference between an explosion and a detonation. When the video starts, there’s smoke and you can tell there’s a fire on site. That fire triggers an explosion - like any big military bomb, it’s huge but a few tenths of a second later that explosion triggers a true detonation, and this truly looks nuclear. You see the shock wave race across the water from it and when it gets to the video guys boat, at least a mile away, you can see it badly slaps around everyone on the boat. Big badda boom.

Maybe, I'm not certain of the exact timeline. They did know Ringo, and had played with him, and considered him a better drummer, before sacking Best. My recollection is that the impetus for dumping Best mostly came from their record company, although Best was a bit of an odd man out with the other three band members.

Yeah, I think Yoko was only able to reduce some of Lennon's toxicity, and there were limits to his redemption that she wasn't able to overcome. Had he lived longer, though, he might have come around. Once one reaches 29, certain realizations sink in, and maybe that would have worked for John.

That was the heartbreaking undercurrent of the "Marry My Husband" Korean webtoon. In her first life, the main character was dying of cancer after wasting 10 years on her useless husband and unfulfilling career, and when she catches him cheating on her, he kills her. Her funeral is depressing because she has no family, her husband's in jail for killing her, her old coworkers show up and lament how they failed her. She fixes things in her second life, and gets rewarded with a great husband and kids (and a cat!).

The Memorial Park that commemorates those events, is about a mile and a half from the port, where the two ships blew up. An 8,000 lb. anchor from one of those ships, is in that park.

I worked with a woman who had a relative doing mission work in Argentina back in the 60s. She described the difficulty of reaching Buenos Aires by phone at the time, and it was an archaic nightmare of a process. There was an operator in Jackson, MS that contacted her to the operator in Houston, Texas, and that lady in return linked her up with an operator in Mexico City.
After that, an operator in Panama took up the effort from Mexico, and then it was a combination of Ham Radio operators and short station to station calls that finally got to her relative in Argentina.

When I was taking classes in Firefighting back in 1973, there was a 1 hour review of what happened in Texas City.
What I remember was the ship was loaded down with tons of Ammonium Nitrate as it docked, then a fire broke out and the responding fire services began pouring water on the fire and into the holds and in essence compressed this cargo down until it created a "Super Bomb" and when it went off...well you all can check the absolute devastation that occurred as a result.
There is a story about the ship's anchor being found 6 miles from the port but that is not verified but over 600 people killed and maybe closer to 1000 due to inadequate reporting capabilities back in 1947

The three parties you mentioned have taken over Africa, You see stories now and then about how the French have to leave after a coup, or the Americans have to leave after a coup. But to many they seem random. The reality to anyone is that western civilization has been thrown out of the entire continent.
This has been a massive strategic loss and again not reported by the media so no one knows about it, certainly not the voters.

The Taliban/Al Queda are firmly embedded in Mali after the French turned tail . They are working hard to establish that area as the center of their African operations. Originally Libya was their plan but Libyan general Khalifa Haftar has kicked some ass and given them second thoughts. They still have a foothold there but Mali is a friendlier environmental right now.
