New ALPR Vulnerabilities Prove Mass Surveillance Is a Public Safety Threat Government officials across the U.S. frequently promote the supposed, and often anecdotal, public safety benefits of automated license plate readers (ALPRs), but rarely do they examine how this very same technology poses risks to public safety that may outweigh the crimes they are attempting to address in the first place. When law enforcement uses ALPRs to document the comings and goings of every driver on the road, regardless of a nexus to a crime, it results in gargantuan databases of sensitive information, and few agencies are equipped, staffed, or trained to harden their systems against quickly evolving cybersecurity threats. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, released an advisory last week that should be a wake up call to the thousands of local government agencies around the country that use ALPRs to surveil the travel patterns of their residents by scanning their license plates and "fingerprinting" their vehicles. Finally watched Godzilla Minus One this weekend and yes, it is as good as everyone has said it was, to my thinking easily the best movie of the last couple of years.
For many years we have analyzed and discussed how the underlying conflict in the original Godzillla movies was how Japan was going to psychologically come to grips with the aftermath of WW2. Finally, after all these decades, there is a Godzilla movie that openly and explicitly addresses how Japan could psychologically come to grips with the aftermath of WW2 - and which does a brilliant job of it. Over 100,000 pounds of nitrate fertilizer stored in a huge harbor silo facility that detonated - incredible bit of video. For one thing, it was the best I’ve ever seen that showed the difference between an explosion and a detonation. When the video starts, there’s smoke and you can tell there’s a fire on site. That fire triggers an explosion - like any big military bomb, it’s huge but a few tenths of a second later that explosion triggers a true detonation, and this truly looks nuclear. You see the shock wave race across the water from it and when it gets to the video guys boat, at least a mile away, you can see it badly slaps around everyone on the boat. Big badda boom. As unlikely as it seems (well not in the Arab world) the explosion of that facility may truly have been accidental. There was a picture released at one point from a couple days before the explosion of a maintenance team working on the doors of the facility. Yoko Ono is ... unique, in a musical sense, but there's something she doesn't get credit for, that was quite positive. John Lennon was an abusive husband to his first wife, and pretty much deserted his child.
Yoko forced John to mend fences with his first wife and to acknowledge and accept the horrible things he did. And she insisted that Lennon become an active father in the life of Julian, his son by his first wife. She reached out to Julian and welcomed him into her life as well. Weird lady, yeah. Not one's first or last choice for her music, yep. But she was exemplary in getting John to cease (mostly) being an SOB. He cheated on Yoko from time to time, and his politics were toxic, but she drove him to be a better man. Very much like the way June Carter forced Johnny Cash to change his life for the better of others. Only a few photos of herself at her job and a treasured hat hanging in some special place where she can look at it and remember her life, with a flashback to her retirement party and then visiting the office a couple of weeks later and it being awkward, and then going for a funeral for one of her co-workers and barely anyone knowing who she is. And then she notices that no one calls her on the phone any more. And soon she stops going out. And the years pass.

Oh, here we go: So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun. For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune. What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun? He also said something pretty important about what counts: Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. Posted by: Anonymous Rogue in Kalifornistan I worked with a woman who had a relative doing mission work in Argentina back in the 60s. She described the difficulty of reaching Buenos Aires by phone at the time, and it was an archaic nightmare of a process. There was an operator in Jackson, MS that contacted her to the operator in Houston, Texas, and that lady in return linked her up with an operator in Mexico City. After that, an operator in Panama took up the effort from Mexico, and then it was a combination of Ham Radio operators and short station to station calls that finally got to her relative in Argentina. When I was taking classes in Firefighting back in 1973, there was a 1 hour review of what happened in Texas City. What I remember was the ship was loaded down with tons of Ammonium Nitrate as it docked, then a fire broke out and the responding fire services began pouring water on the fire and into the holds and in essence compressed this cargo down until it created a "Super Bomb" and when it went off...well you all can check the absolute devastation that occurred as a result. There is a story about the ship's anchor being found 6 miles from the port but that is not verified but over 600 people killed and maybe closer to 1000 due to inadequate reporting capabilities back in 1947 Posted by: Nightwatch at June 24, 2024 12:38 AM (TDvv2) Posted by: Nightwatch at June 24, 2024 12:46 AM (TDvv2) 248

It's kind of funny to me that Harrison has gone from being "the cult Beatle" to most people's favorite Beatle. Also, Ringo has many great drum moments on the Beatles albums. Their styles didn't call for a Moon or Bonham type lead drummer. Also, all Beatles and George Martin were much better together than apart. The good solo Paul stuff is the best solo stuff due to his Beatles roles of "sophisticated pop" and "moderate rocker" which translated well to solo career. Plus Paul was the only one of them who still really wanted to be a Big Pop Star by the end of the Beatles.

Father-of-three cop shot dead trailing stolen vehicle in unmarked squad car: It was an ambush
https://mol.im/a/13560699 I am saddened for that lovely family. Now those villains do need the death penalty, no appeals, carried out within the month. The old newsworthy scale: 1 American = 10 Englishmen = 100 Europeans = 1000 Russians = 100,000 Africans = 1 million Chinese Plus, by amazing coincidence, the latest war broke out just as Russia was getting a foothold on the Sudanese Coast. Hmm. Aircraft carrier Dwight D Eisenhower, the foundation of Operation Prosperity Guardian, has been ordered home. Last week, the Houthis sank a bulk carrier with a sea drone. Today, two cargo ships were attacked. One in the Gulf of Aden, one in the Red Sea. One was damaged severely and the crew has abandoned ship. No reports yet on its damage. Meanwhile, two out of every three cargo ships in that part of the world are sailing around the Horn as opposed to the Suez. The economic ripples will start washing up on shore soon. The lost revenues are also causing significant economic grief in Egypt. Nary a peep from the legacy media. Wouldn't want to tarnish Old Joe. Anyone else wonder how our enemies are looking at this?

The three parties you mentioned have taken over Africa, You see stories now and then about how the French have to leave after a coup, or the Americans have to leave after a coup. But to many they seem random. The reality to anyone is that western civilization has been thrown out of the entire continent. This has been a massive strategic loss and again not reported by the media so no one knows about it, certainly not the voters. Posted by: Quint at June 24, 2024 02:29 AM (VGSDh) 277

The Taliban/Al Queda are firmly embedded in Mali after the French turned tail . They are working hard to establish that area as the center of their African operations. Originally Libya was their plan but Libyan general Khalifa Haftar has kicked some ass and given them second thoughts. They still have a foothold there but Mali is a friendlier environmental right now. Posted by: Sock Monkey * levitating above the madness at June 24, 2024 02:46 AM (8M9QV) 281

That’s a good question, seems like it was set up for the Taliban to take over. Afghanistan is above my pay grade, but it is weird that I need to look into more. I do remember back in the day the Northern Alliance was well regarded, No, I guess they just don’t exist.
The number of Biden and Obama international relations catastrophes is so high that it seems people don’t even take them into account, It is such a consistent level of collapse just becomes a blur. We should stop riding when people are arrested because being arrested needs nothing in today’s society unless you are on the right. Some dumb women and probably have 20 cats apiece for arrested the PGA golf tournament in Vermont protesting against oil. That won’t affect their lies at all, though their lives at all, though they affected a bunch of other lives. It was Vermont. These people might be stupid, but they’re not stupid. They got free publicity and some shout outs on the web and pretty much that’ll be it. Nothing will be done whatsoever to stop that behavior.
