Now that I think about it, he just might do that. The Dems have been caught off-guard by how badly this trial has played out for them. They thought they were taking the kill shot, but it has backfired badly on them.

Declaring a mistrial would essentially give them a mulligan, a way out of their current dilemma. Then they could just decline to reprosecute, and they're home and dry. Or as home and dry as they can be now, in the circumstances.

Now that I think about it, he just might do that. The Dems have been caught off-guard by how badly this trial has played out for them. They thought they were taking the kill shot, but it has backfired badly on them.

Declaring a mistrial would essentially give them a mulligan, a way out of their current dilemma. Then they could just decline to reprosecute, and they're home and dry. Or as home and dry as they can be now, in the circumstances.

Pretty sure once it was brought to his attention he called in all of the court clerks and they verified it was probably a legitimate post. No way he would have sent that letter out so fast if it was just some random post by a freak on their facebook page.

The judge knows the shitstorm this would cause if he officially acknowledges it.
I just can't see him sending out this letter without some additional verification.
