In practice, that audience’s needs are a very small (tiny, in fact) portion of Windows userbase — and frankly talking about screenshotting the things people in the real world, not executive world, is basically like punching customers in the face. The echo chamber effect inside Microsoft is real here, and oh boy… just oh boy.

Most likely comes with just one populated. Undo the four screws on the bottom, pull on the little tab, and it pops open and the memory slots and SSD are right there. - Speaking of Copilot, I just learned that Windows recently implemented a "shut off all the pointless and stupid crap running the background tracking me and trying to sell me stuff" setting. They didn't name it that, of course, but according to MS and Toms Hardware: "... Uncontrolled background applications are one of the primary causes of accelerated battery drain, since these applications are practically invisible to the user. They can come in any form, including Windows updates, browser tabs, uninterrupted background video playback, backup programs, and more." It's absurdly in the Global Warming section of Windows instead of the "oh, that makes sense" power settings section, but I guess if it was in power settings people would see and use it and limit a lot of Windows tracking and ad-selling. Since it's in the "reduce my carbon footprint" section it's almost guaranteed that no one will ever know about it. I engaged it on the gaming laptop and battery life went from two to six hours. Evening and morning, all,
I see nobody has made the "That was Zen, this is Tao" joke yet! Back from my workout and shower, and having morning chow after slopping the feline hogs. Traffic on the bridge is likely to be a bit heavier starting today; a ferry that siphons off a portion of commuters is out of service for dry dock work and inspection. The Great Panjandrums say it'll be out for about 90 days. Around here, that usually translates to from 120 to 180. Brother Lawrence (1611-1691) served in the French army for 18 years and then served as a lay brother and cook in a Carmelite monastery until blindness forced him to retire. His letters and notes were published after his death in a book called "The Practice Of The Presence of God" . For him prayer consists of finding God through everyday events and in learning to trust his providence, so that the soul becomes constantly aware of God's presence. Here is one short prayer:
"My God, here I am, my heart devoted to you. Fashion me according to your heart." Posted by: FenelonSpoke at June 03, 2024 05:49 AM (gHfHP) 31
It's hilarious to think that MS wants you to reduce your power usage while watching a cat video but their energy usage related to telemetry and phoning-home and collecting data on billions of people is perfectly fine and maybe even good for the environment when you really think about it.

Black hat hackers have reportedly unleashed malicious software targeting over 1,500 banks and their customers worldwide. Security researchers at IBM say a revamped version of the Grandoreiro banking trojan has just rolled out, enabling attackers to perform banking fraud in 60 countries The malware allows attackers to send email notices that appear to be urgent government requests for payments. Users are told they can click a link to view an invoice or a fee and when they do, a malicious file is downloaded and executed in the background. Posted by: fd at June 03, 2024 06:31 AM (vFG9F) 56

I feel like a Soviet censor. Pooky caught Pookette reading in bed again, so I decided to lock up our books.
All of them. The shelves that I could get to are barred with duct tape until I ran out of duct tape. As soon as the hardware store is open, I'll get more duct tape. What didn't fit on the shelves got put in a box, taped shut with marker on it to prevent tampering. Books that we're reading to Lil Pooky got put in a locked file cabinet that only I have the keys to. Axios article from March 29, 2024:
"Scoop: Congress bans staff use of Microsoft's AI Copilot" The House's Chief Administrative Officer Catherine Szpindor, in guidance to congressional offices obtained by Axios, said Microsoft Copilot is "unauthorized for House use." "The Microsoft Copilot application has been deemed by the Office of Cybersecurity to be a risk to users due to the threat of leaking House data to non-House approved cloud services," it said. The guidance added that Copilot "will be removed from and blocked on all House Windows devices." ( URL to article linked under my name for this comment ) -- If the goons-in-charge are banning this for their own people, and doing so this quickly, you should have a pretty good idea how much you should trust this "feature", and frankly, this operating system: Not at all. 30-odd years ago, I suffered terribly from insomnia. I got a white sound system that helped a lot.
------------ Speaking of which, suddenly out-of-nowhere a couple of months ago, I now have tinnitus -- a constant ringing in the ears. Ugh, really annoying when I frequently become aware of it. Being over 29*2, turns out most people I know in their 60s & 70s seem to have it -- and usually the brain eventually compensates and tunes it out for the most part.
