Top Story

Fracking wastewater from Pennsylvania alone could provide 40% of domestic lithium requirements for the US. (Ars Technica)

The Marcellus Shale formation in Pennsylvania contains enough natural gas to meet all domestic requirements for 18 years all by itself, and is also rich in lithium. So rich that the wastewater from fracking efforts is just loaded with the stuff.

The Ars commentariat is outraged at the thought that extracting critical energy resources could provide other critical resources for free. There's not enough lithium in the world for that lot.

The Framework 13 laptop has a new higher-resolution screen option. Oh, and a new Intel CPU. (Ars Technica)

The CPU is the Intel Meteor Lake series, the 1th generation since Intel renumbered everything. It's... Okay. It uses less power and has improved graphics compared to 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Intel chips.

The screen is a 120Hz 2880x1920 model with rounded corners. The corners are because it's not a custom panel made for Framework, but a 13" 3:2 ratio model that just happened to be available and fit almost perfectly.

User feedback shows that with AI Overviews, people have higher satisfaction with their search results, and they're asking longer, more complex questions that they know Google can now help with. They use AI Overviews as a jumping off point to visit web content, and we see that the clicks to webpages are higher quality - people are more likely to stay on that page, because we've done a better job of finding the right info and helpful webpages for them.

12 Last night, with the aid of melatonin, I found myself in a large barn-like area that apparently was a combo petting zoo and sideshow carnival center. Three thugs were quietly threatening me. I managed to tip over the chair of one of them, and my date and I sprang up. She fled out of the building. I leaped up some stairs to a loft area and tried to call the cops, but 911 wasn't working. The lady there dialed the state police, and the trooper told me he was driving as fast as he could, but it would be an hour before he arrived.

I could see my three pursuers all sitting on a couch down below by the barn doors; no way I could sneak past them. One girl volunteered to find me a gun, and ran out, but I never saw her again before I woke up.

Mental movies . . .

No, Fen, they are not frightening. Besides, these are just the ones I remember, because they're playing out just before I wake up.

If you mean Unisom, yes, I'm using that. Is there some reason I shouldn't combine them? I'm sleeping longer, Even if I have to get up and hit the head once during the night, I can usually go back to sleep for a while, which makes a difference.

This is a way to get fracking back on the table to attempt to lower energy prices. It won't have any meaningful effect on EVs or EV supplies, and they'll make up some excuse why when they need to.

But I say, eggplant parm for the freezer, maybe even some babaganouj, though I've never frozen the latter. It's your own microwave *DING* food. Eggplant reheats well in the microwave, another selling point to cooking eggplant dishes for the freezer.

46 Eggplant is 'okay' but not worth $2.99 each to me, except for once in a while. Hubby really likes it. I think it's bland & mushy, even when seasoned, breaded & fried. Zucchini has better texture, IMO.

But I grew a few puny plants one year. It was... okay. Actually was glad I didn't get a bumper crop.

We've sunk so far it doesn't matter anymore. We've convicted a former -- and current candidate for -- president on 34 charges of bullshit but really for the actual crime of exposing the whole 'Deep State'/corruption in our government. Like every other one of the left's projections, they convicted Trump of what they themselves are doing/have done.

When you say "instruction", we were told in court the pertinent criminal law before deliberation. In the jury room we had the charge sheet, with the guilty/not guilty line next to the five felony charges waiting to be 'X'ed, then signed by the jury foreman. Were the judge's instructions in court given to us on paper? No. {Queens, NY Criminal Court.}

When you say "instruction", we were told in court the pertinent criminal law before deliberation. In the jury room we had the charge sheet, with the guilty/not guilty line next to the five felony charges waiting to be 'X'ed, then signed by the jury foreman. Were the judge's instructions in court given to us on paper? No. {Queens, NY Criminal Court.}

He faces a maximum of 17 years on the 34 records falsification charges, since the other crime is undefined, and looking at the various penalties for general election fraud, since the crime is undefined, they could literally pick any one, he could get 34 years for those, and since NYS uses a bizarre sentencing matrix scheme to in sentencing, where they can enhance a sentence, a good round number is 50 years, he'll probably get 10-15 years though.

178 Apothecary diaries was fantastic and I am really looking forward to another season. Between that show and Frieren, I’ve really been imoressed with the depth we’ve seen from anime this year. In a sea of repetitive isekai power fantasies, there always seems to be a few shows that manage to shine through with real heart and great storytelling.
