MSNBC: Michael Cohen's Heist of $60,000 from Trump Was Him "Just Trying to Rebalance the Bonus He Thought He Deserved"

Oh.

MSNBC and the left have now justified:

* Beating people on the street for disagreeing with you

* Setting businesses on fire because you're on the race-rag

* Menacing Jewish students if you're angry that Jews are good at warfare and Arabs are only good at terrorist bombings, rapes, and kidnappings

* Stealing a hoard of cash if you think you "deserve" it

It's a criminal advocacy channel.

Before getting to MSNBC's latest defense of venality and criminality in the name of The Great Un-patriotic Cause...

The persecution has now rested, proving not a single one of its allegations, and leaving everyone still perplexed about what crime Trump is supposed to have committed.

The prosecution has rested its case in Donald Trump's trial, with Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer, as the last witness. The defense attacked Cohen's credibility during cross-examination.

Key Details:

Michael Cohen, the key witness, testified about the hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels, revealing his own financial misconduct.

The defense highlighted Cohen's past lies under oath and financial gains from his association with Trump.

Closing arguments are expected next week, with the defense potentially calling three witnesses.

Byron York
@ByronYork

CNN analyst notes that Michael Cohen's admission of stealing $60,000 from his employer is 'a higher degree of crime than what Trump is charged with.'

Shipwreckedcrew
@shipwreckedcrew

In you are not following closely:

Cohen admitted on cross-exam that he embezzled tens of thousands of dollars from Trump Inc., but is not being prosecuted by the Manhattan DA because of his cooperation by testifying about false business record entries that are misdemeanors.

Cohen's crimes are clear felonies that he admitted to.

He also admitted he would lie under oath when his personal interests are at stake.

He then admitted that he makes money from the fact that Trump is on trial.

He tried to claim that he would make more money from an acquittal than he would a conviction.

I'd like to pop this slimy grub right in his cocksucker.

The defense called Cohen's former lawyer as a rebuttal witness (which he can do, because Cohen okayed him breaking lawyer-client confidentiality, because he's a terrible, terrible Bob Zuckercorn level lawyer).

12 Judge Merchan to Robert Costello: "Are you staring me down?"

Judge Juan Merchan has asked to "take a minute" and told the jury to step out.

"Mr. Costello you're to remain seated," the judge told witness in a raised voice.

After another sustained objection, witness Robert Costello rolled his eyes
and let out an audible sigh side, glancing at Merchan.

"I want to discuss proper decorum in my courtroom," the judge says.

Merchan also said, "You don't give me a side eye and you don't roll your eyes."

"When there’s a witness on the stand, if you don’t like my ruling, you don’t say 'jeez,' you don’t say strike it," Merchan says.

Then Costello held a long glare at the judge.

26 BREAKING: Trump's defense team has called former Michael Cohen adviser Bob Costello to the stand

Costello claims Cohen came to him suicidal in 2018, without any dirt on Donald Trump, but was willing to do "whatever he F**k" it took to stay out of jail 👀

++++
And why would producing "dirt" on Trump keep Cohen out of jail?

That's the real thing here, and nobody is going to discuss it and most probably won't notice it. Not that Cohen is a lying scumbag who tried to railroad his boss after looting him, but that Cohen saw the railroading as his ticket out of the Greybar Hotel.

Why would that be his ticket out? There is only one likely answer to that, and it doesn't exactly reflect favorably on the state.

If Cohen did this by padding tax payments in his (Cohen's) favor, would that not rise to the crime of defrauding the state or federal government?

And if he did it to Trump, how many others did he embezzlement from in the name of what he thought he "deserved"?

I'm guessing a lot more of Cohen's former clients are going to be looking at what they paid vs what they truly owed.

Yup. This would be my plan. All police agencies and powers, and intelligence agencies and powers are dissolved and replaced with five new agencies:
1. Interstate law enforcement. Narrow mandate. No intelligence capability.
2. Foreign intelligence. Broad mandate. No domestic operations.
3. Domestic intelligence. Vanishingly narrow mandate.
4. Military intelligence. Broad mandate, only within the context of strategic and tactical assessment and battlefield preparedness.
5. Internal Affairs.

Agency 5 is comprised entirely of outsiders, nobody with tenure in any of the other four agencies. They are paid average GS wages, but also get lucrative bounties for every case of corruption or misbehavior they clear and every bad actor who goes to prison. It will be ruthless and deeply corrupt, but directed entirely inward at the FedGov, rather than outward at the people.

Most of the NorthEast - and California - exist as is only because of the SALT deduction. Make them pay Federal as well as their own State taxes - instead of deducting State from Federal - and they all bankrupt.

155 Forget whether Cohen took from Trump. He used business funds to try to bribe someone to change his poll numbers. From Today:

Michael Cohen provided some background on the the $30,000 he said he stole from the Trump Organization by overcharging them for work he did with Red Finch -- funds that were paid to him as part of the Stormy Daniels reimbursement payment.

"Red Finch is a technology company that I had asked to assist in a CNBC poll, and the poll was regarding the most famous businessmen in, like, the last century," Cohen said, speaking to the jury. "Mr. Trump's name was on that list and at the beginning of this poll he was polling toward the very bottom. It upset him, so he had me come to his office and he provided me with a sheet of paper."

"I reached out to Red Finch who told me he was able to create an algorithm to ensure that Mr. Trump would rise and rise significantly in this poll. We talked about what number Mr. Trump wanted to finish," Cohen said.

168 When an atty calls a witness, that atty is "vouching" for the witness-- i.e., that as far as the atty knows, the witness will give truthful testimony. I would never vouch for that little piece of scum. I'd resign first.

Sometimes a prosecutor will vouch for an admitted murderer, usually a co-operating defendant, but only if there is corroborating evidence. I haven't followed Bragg's clown circus all that closely, but I don't recall reading about corroborating testimony on Cohen's key point-- that Trump directed him.

To me, if I were a juror, I would've said, "This is a farce & a waste of my time," right after Trump's accountant testified that HE made the decision to report the payment to Cohen as a business expense-- that Trump had no part in that decision.

I'm still pessimistic about the verdicts, just like Dershowitz* is. Too many of the jurors likely just want to Get Trump.

The Judge here is making outrageous preludial statements in open court about the defenses witnesses...that's insane. They'll appeal, obviously, then hopefully the appellate court will step in - they actually are the judicial procedural bosses for the lower NYS superior court. But, if your lower court is not following those procedures, acting bizarre and unprofessional, you don't have to have a defendant complain...it just needs to come to their attention...I think it has come to their attention.

-----
Serious answer...

The origin of ‘kangaroo court‘ is unknown, although, given that kangaroos are native nowhere else, we might expect the term to have originated in Australia. As always, a lack of a definite origin encourages speculative claims, which may be an appropriate word in this context as one frequently repeated supposed derivation relates to ‘claim jumping’ in the California Gold Rush – hence the allusion to kangaroos. That’s quite a plausible notion. Kangaroos and their claim to fame, so to speak, that is, jumping, were known in the USA by the early 1800s, so there’s no reason to limit the derivation to Australia. Also, the earliest known citation of the term is American and appears in a collection of magazine articles by Philip Paxton (the pen name of Samuel Adams Hammett), which were published in 1853 under the title of A stray Yankee in Texas:

“By a unanimous vote, Judge G– was elected to the bench and the ‘Mestang’ or ‘Kangaroo Court’ regularly organized.”

234 Hunter Biden now claims he didn’t introduce dad to Burisma exec despite admitting they dined together — as ‘sugar brother’ runs out of cash

Hunter indicated he did not introduce the Burisma board adviser to his father despite testifying on Feb. 28 that then-VP Biden attended a pair of dinners at DC’s Cafe Milano restaurant in 2014 and 2015 — one of which included Pozharskyi, whose company hired Hunter in early 2014 as his dad assumed control of the Obama administration’s policy toward Ukraine.

“I do believe that Vadym was at one of these dinners, yes,” Hunter told Congress, backing The Post’s initial October 2020 reporting on documents from Hunter’s abandoned laptop.

Thanks but I'm still wondering what their self-interest is here. This is not a close call, a case that could go either way based on the evidence.

There is no evidence. They haven't even specified a crime. The star witness is a disbarred lawyer who is a convicted felon for perjury and it has just been proved that he spent his time on the witness stand in this case repeatedly lying and admitting he stole from the guy he is trying to convict because he has a financial interest in see Trump convicted. Even the CNN legal analyst is saying this trial is a disaster.

If Trump gets convicted which I agree is likely the case will be appealed and it's pretty hard to see how this doesn't get overturned. That can't be good for a lawyer even in NYC.
