3 Evening and morning to all the early Sunday risers and later weekend toilers! I slept okay, with the help of a single cold pill -- thus no coughing -- and I plan to work out gently this morning. With 74 F. and 90% humidity, I'm not looking forward to it.

How's thy Sunday looking?

8 In other news, Miss Linda is decidedly un-thrilled at the idea of my retiring this month, and won't discuss the move-and-buy-a-house scenario unless I force it. She has never been excited about the idea when I showed her nice houses on Realtor in Evansville and environs.

Instead of being excited about my "new chapter," as the cliche has it, I'm finding myself a little depressed (along with the usual seasonal "down" I feel when the nasty humid heat closes in). Blah.

I know I can't drag her along and don't want to -- and don't have the energy for it anyway. But doing it all myself? I didn't envision this. . . .

13 Good morning! Currently 64 out on the patio here in Cowtown with the humidity at about 97%. Tried to use some simple green cleaner on the brick in front patio alcove to remove some mud dobber nests and all I did was make some grey stains. Looks like I'll need to rent a power washer. On the good news front, I have sourced a local lumber yard with really nice cedar lumber at a very reasonable price and found a highly recommended, local handyman who does carpentry. Once I get the alcove cleaned up, that space and the back patio are gonna get a cedar tongue and groove ceiling.

27 Good afternoon from northern Israel - but not too north.

Hizballah fired all around our northern border area about 30 minutes ago. About 20 missiles landed in the now-ghost-town Kiyat Shemonah, with some building being hit.

I'm guessing that this was a response to something Israel targeted in Lebanon about an hour ago. No word yet what we were aiming at.

In the meantime, Israel huffs and puffs and threatens to blow Rafiah down but does no such thing. And Israel's Gaza envelope communities continue to receive a volley here and there from Hamas.

To those of you analysts here who thought that Israel was doing a great job, I hate to say I told you so but I told you so.

Time for a late lunch with Mrs. BD.

45 Yes, by the time you have a power washer powerful enough to really do the job, you also have a tool that can hurt you or permanently etch concrete or stucco. Some of the pumps are not all they should be. After one rebuild, I 're-engineered' one unit to accept an improved pump. No money was saved.

There's a cheapo lame excuse, a spray tip with extension tube and shutoff valve, that goes for around $20. Noted, lots of use of the shutoff can cause the joinery of the tube to part, so go easy on that, but, for most spray and wash work, it does the same job as a pressure washer for a fraction. Particularly good for chasing soil and weeds out of parking slab joints.

We have polar opposite world views. He also has a loud, bellowing voice. I hate when I'm responding to a point and can't finish a sentence because he's just louder than me. It's a tactic to prevent someone from opposing a viewpoint. I hate that. I blame cable newz. Should have started talking about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and tell him about the love of God. Politics is a religion in Babylon DC so I should respond accordingly. Missed my moment. I pray I will do better next time and pray for a next time.

I think I've seen the latter, or part of it. Scott looks so . . . odd . . . in a suit and tie, though nowhere near as weird as Grant would have looked in a Western. It says quite a bit about Scott's ability as an actor that he could move between genres like that (though he didn't do it much, did he?).

61 “The Tall T” has been playing on Encore Westerns regularly for a month now. I saw it for the first time a few weeks back and have watched it a few more times since then.

While the story is simple and quite compelling the acting is really great.

Richard Boone as the head bad guy is absolutely superb. If he didn’t get an Oscar nomination and the win for that role, he certainly should have.

My favorite bit is his laughing at Randolph Scott’s tripping and falling down during one scene. His laughter seemed so genuine it’s unreal. I imagine crying and laughing in a convincing way are two of the hardest things for an actor to do, but what do I know?

Might have had an epiphany yesterday, talking with the crew about just how stupid everything is. Are we living in the exception, or the rule ?

Society was batshit crazy in the Roaring 20s. The Depression and WW II cured that for a while. By the 60s - everything off the rails again. A very slight correction during Reagan - another short one after 9/11. Other than that ? A pretty consistent trend into madness.

We'll get the immediate "because we need God" here -but I don't give a shit about the Why. The What, to me, seems pretty in focus. America is exceptional, all right. Exceptionally out of our collective minds, and absolutely willfully naive in ignoring that its been so for several generations.

86 Nice to hear from you Biden's Dog, been a while. I was one who had thought Israel was doing well, and it had been until Feb 1. Since then it's all gone to shit - and now Egypt, Turkey, and Iran are on the verge of signing an anti-Israel alliance. Iranian reps in Cairo this weekend, all countries now have contempt for US.

I recall that his early administration was dotted with a number of lookers. Most turned out to be nuts or incompetent or both. I believe Trump himself tapped them for whatever position they were put in.

Tulsi is absolutely 100% uniparty. She is literally the federal example of what people everywhere are seeing at their local (R) breakfasts and political meetings.

"I left my party in 2021 and now what can I do to take over yours?"

She ran for president in 2020 with specific and clear platforms.

"As a candidate in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, Gabbard's political positions were broadly similar to those of contenders on health care, climate, education, infrastructure, and criminal justice reform,"

At the federal level absolutely. At the state level it's here and there, mostly because of the federal influence. At the local level actual conservatives and conservative ideas exist freely and with a great deal of support.
