I'm going largely on the experiences of my cousin, who works in the ND oil fields and has driven through both quite a bit.
Though in the case of SD, he mostly drove through the sections with Indian reservations. All he had to say about it was, "when you drive into one of those reservations, you keep going and do NOT stop until you're on the other side. If you absolutely have to stop and get gas, get it and get out."

Also have some really nifty/useful little IDF metal boxes, a little bigger than a soap container, with internal dividers for a couple bucks.
The Swiss kits are absurdly well-made and I can't imagine what they might cost if made now, because they're so ridiculous I don't think anyone would bother making them, as it would not be cost-effective.

There is a local physician here who does house calls if you phone for an appointment. Pay her 57 bucks, get my BP taken, and a new scrip for BP reducers. No hassles.

It took me two days to figure out Sapporo, Japan, is almost completely underground, and especially in winter. Tunnels that run for miles in every direction. The entire central city is subterranean. One day I clocked a mile-and-a-half, walking, of nothing but shops, restaurants, art displays, public gathering areas, government services; and that was just one branch. Before I got the new edition of Brave working on this box, I was able to get Firefox working with U-Block Origin, and blocking all the same ads that Brave was natively blocking. IF you could get U-Block working with the older build of Brave, that might work.
If the Win 8.1 box is just a home computers for Web surfing, etc, and you don't need to run any Windows-specific software, why not partition the HD, and install Linux Mint in the new partition. Than you can run the current Brave, which is working for me right now.

Just saw this on one of the astronomy sites I follow all the time. NASA has been directed to create, along with international outfits, a "Coordinated Lunar Time" (LTC), which will be the equivalent of UTC for the Moon.
This is will be an independent time standard for the Moon and the nearby lunar space. I don't think there will be an astronomical definitions involved, this will be a pure atomic time, for atomic clocks running on the Moon.
If you're gonna be doing a bunch of stuff on the Moon and in orbit around it, you need clocks well synchronized to a local standard.
I'm sure Karine Jean-Pierre and Kamala Harris will be instrumental in setting this up.

Using "earth return", current flowing through the actual dirt, which it can be done, it can be quite dangerous.
For AC 60Hz systems (and 50Hz), it has been done, but it can be dangerous. For AC at those frequencies, inductance in the ground tends to dominate, and the return current path tends to be a relatively narrow channel near the surface which follows the single hot wire above fairly closely. If that wire say zig zags around, the return channel below will zig zag right along with it.
For High voltage DC transmission, it works much better -- the current spreads out, but, for high currents, the problem is the "convergence zone" near the electrodes. The voltage drop across a few feet of ground can get high enough to be a shock hazard.

Local distribution of AC using earth return has been done, especially in remote rural areas. AOP himself, may have such a system where's at.
Anyway, when doing that, you've got to be careful. Under some conditions, with phone lines and other conductors running close by, I remember reading how the power currents would tend to get all over the grounds for the foreign wiring.

I think some of the HVDC transmission lines actually use earth return. Well, one I remember is "bi-polar", basically + and - hots, and a center tapped neutral which is grounded.
The system can go into monopolar operation at half voltage if it has to, and does use earth return. I'll get to searching around for that.
