NBC News plans to drop former Republican National Committee boss Ronna McDaniel as a paid contributor after network stars including MSNBC prime time headliner Rachel Maddow and the co-hosts of "Morning Joe" blasted the decision to bring the Trump-backing politico on board.
The network has not made an announcement, but one is pending, according to Puck News. The Post has sought comment from NBC and McDaniel.
McDaniel is reportedly looking to hire a lawyer, according to Puck News.

Maddow, MSNBC's most bankable name, said on her Monday show that hiring McDaniel was "inexplicable" and demanded that executives "reverse their decision."

Maddow went on to bash McDaniel as "someone who hasn't just attacked us as journalists, but someone who is part of an ongoing project to get rid of our system of government."
"You wouldn't hire a made man like a mobster to work at a DA's office, right? You wouldn't hire a pick-pocket to work as a TSA screener," Maddow concluded.

Earlier on Monday, Joe Scarborough and his wife, Mika Brzezinski, who co-host MSNBC's "Morning Joe," pledged on the air that they would not invite McDaniel to their program, calling her an "anti-democracy election denier."

The adulterers who openly flaunted their affair on live TV said they have ethics and principles which demand they shun the newly-hired infidel and refuse to have her on their Leftwing Propaganda and Under-the-Desk Frigging Show.

Moments ago, JOE SCARBOROUGH and MIKA BRZEZINSKI became the latest voices at NBCUniversal News Group to criticize their company's hiring of former RNC chair RONNA McDANIEL as a paid contributor.
"We weren't asked our opinion of the hiring but, if we were, we would have strongly objected to it for several reasons," Scarborough said at the top of "Morning Joe," with Brzezinski adding, "We hope NBC will reconsider its decision. It goes without saying that she will not be a guest on 'Morning Joe' in her capacity as a paid contributor." They then played a reel of McDaniel's various comments questioning the outcome of the 2020 election.

MSNBC is the network that alleged for eight or nine years straight that Donald Trump was a paid agent of Vladimir Putin and that the KGB rigged the 2016 election.

I know you know that. Just wanted to underline it.

Their comments come a day after CHUCK TODD pilloried NBC executives moments after McDaniel's first network appearance, an interview with KRISTEN WELKER on "Meet the Press."
"I think our bosses owe you an apology for putting you in this situation," Todd told Welker. "There's a reason why there's a lot of journalists at NBC News uncomfortable with this, because many of our professional dealings with the RNC over the last six years have been met with gaslighting, have been met with character assassination."
Other NBC and MSNBC hosts and contributors will undoubtedly now be under pressure to speak their minds as well. MSNBC's prime-time lineup tonight will be worth watching.

You see, reporters can attack the credibility of leaders on the right, but leaders on the right may not attack the credibility of "journalists."

It's not hypocrisy. It's hierarchy.

Todd's outburst [Sunday] that crystallized the turmoil. It was in some ways the culmination of years of frustrations, laid bare by the guy who had lived through all of it.
Todd spent a decade in the MTP chair and suffered so much vitriol from anti-media attacks -- on both the right and the left -- that NBC regularly hired private security for him. There was internal criticism, too: By the end of his tenure, the show was being excessively micromanaged by executives, and he'd had clashes throughout with colleagues at MSNBC as he did much of the frustrating work trying to distinguish the non-ideological NBC News from its ideological cable cousin. But he won over that crowd yesterday.

This is patently unfair. Whatever personal issues Scarborough and Brzezinski have or once had, they are entirely independent of their professional demeanor and conduct as journalists.

Their objection is professional, and as such should be considered. Their concern about hiring a powerful political partisan for what is supposed to be a newsroom is completely reasonable. This is not using McDaniel as a contributor or an interview subject on differing policy, this is adding her to the staff.

Trepidation over the injection of partisan politics into an organization that today provides balanced coverage is justified. In our increasingly polarized society and media landscape, maintaining balance is extremely difficult and requires constant vigilance. This hire has the potential to tip the scales and cause the poison of partisanship to enter the outlet's news coverage.

We took Ace's most recent movie advice.

The results:

"The Beekeeper" - probably the Jason Strathamiest movie of Jason Stratham's oeuvre. Great action, huge fun. Dips a toe into politics with the villains which is why it gets lousy critic ratings to go along with its excellent viewer ratings.

"Road House" - never saw the original, but both of us enjoyed Roadhouse.
BONUS! plus it's directed by one of my favorite directors - Doug Liman. So, crisp action, crunchy violence, and a great pace.

Well-acted, very well-shot fun action movie.

Check both of them out.

I didn't realize was a truly stellar voice she had. Also, Patricia Routledge as the "Pirate Den mother" Ruth. I didn't realize that Routledge _"From Keeping Up Appearances" on the BBC was a classically trained singer . Also, the Pirate thing in that was Kevin Kline. He did a really good job.

314 One of the truly great productions of Pirates of Penzance was done in the Papp Theatre in Cental Park in NYC. I didn't see it live, but on tape. Linda Ronstadt was Mabel. I didn't realize was a truly stellar voice she had. Also, Patricia Routledge as the "Pirate Den mother" Ruth. I didn't realize that Routledge _"From Keeping Up Appearances" on the BBC was a classically trained singer . Also, the Pirate thing in that was Kevin Kline. He did a really good job.
