Speaking of Gemini generated images, I found this amusing. The Colorado Avalanche commissioned a black woman artist from the deep South who admittedly is not familiar with hockey to design a hockey sweater celebrating black excellence. She chose to do a portrait of Hall of Famer Jarome Iginla (one of the whitest African-American Canadians ever). The portrait has that AI sort-of-cartoonish look, but apparently she has less familiarity with Jarome Iginla than she does with hockey, because she depicted him with skin tones many shades darker than his actual skin tone, and with a Jeri curl, when he generally prefers a buzz cut. I wonder if she used Gemini..

I wonder, prior to the Trump Train Wreck, did the black population of Fulton County generally consider the DA's office under Fani Willis to be an honest outfit?
Cause at some point, one needs to ask how many black defendants got railroaded by that office. Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at February 29, 2024 06:16 AM (a1415) 99

The narrative that has been pushed for years, that the investigation into Trump’s campaign began with an Australian tip about a boastful Trump aide, now appears to be a cover for a more extensive and coordinated effort to undermine Trump. If reports are accurate, British intelligence began targeting Trump on behalf of American intelligence agencies as early as 2015, long before the official narrative claims.

In a message posted online Saturday, in both English and Russian, the hacking group called LockBit said the stolen documents "contain a lot of interesting things and Donald Trump's court cases that could affect the upcoming US election." Also, lockbit doesn't even really run their own ops anymore, they're basically a Malware-as-a-Service group. So who knows who the hell is actually hitting them.

Have a great day, everyone. May there be serenity around you.
Shame on those Russian hackers. In the US it is our Google files that hold all blackmail worthy information. May your file be clean due to good OPSEC. Posted by: NaCly Dog at February 29, 2024 07:19 AM (u82oZ) 209
I went to school with a woman Fawni (It was spelled that way.) She was much preferable to Fani Willis and she actually did something useful such as build sets for the college shows.

"The group — led by a hacker using the pseudonym LockBitSupp — appeared to become operational again over the weekend after a February 20 law-enforcement raid. A group of agencies, including the FBI and the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency, took down 34 of its servers and changed its website to a series of messages bragging about the law-enforcement operation. The same day, the US Department of Justice unsealed an indictment accusing two Russian nationals of being involved in the group's hacking operations.
By Saturday, LockBit was back." Story is at Business Insider. Posted by: fd at February 29, 2024 07:20 AM (vFG9F) 213

I’m done with these lefty names who cares how they say it or why they have their names? I got over lefty names when it came to Sheila Jackson Lee. She hates everyone but still has that name.

Rosasharn, about your puppy: If I remember my Albert Payson Terhune stories about collies correctly, "merle" is the tricolor coat, gray and black and tan with some white, right? Very handsome. Among cats that would mean the feline was a female; is that true about dogs?
Shelties are very good-looking. I expect that, like most small or smallish dogs, they're very energetic, especially when young. Do you have a short list of possible names yet? I came up with "Stirling" and "Marlin" before I brought the current black cat home, and I was pretty sure I'd go with "Dagny" for a female kitten even before I adopted the little Siberian. Fortunately, both names suited their new owners. Kind of remarkable (not) that the FBI was able to act with such speed on a case that involves potentially embarrassing info about the "get Trump" op they're running.
Kind of funny the target group was (mostly) able to dodge them. Keystone cops. Posted by: Martini Farmer at February 29, 2024 07:24 AM (Q4IgG) 224

I was discharged Friday but since then instead of feeling better I still felt fatigued early in the day. I checked into the ER Monday expecting a quick fix but it turned out I made it just in time to avoid transport.
Very anemic, and needed transfusions. Last night I finally got transferred from the ICU dungeon to Gen Pop Hope to get discharged today but need endoscopy. It seems unlikely to be internal bleeding and more a matter of the liver producing red blood cells. 🤞 Posted by: logprof at February 29, 2024 07:28 AM (kv8NK) 228

It's funny but the memory of my mom might motivate me to vote.
Initiative in VA to ban gambling machines in convenience stores is something I can get behind, and my mom detested gambling in general. I for one dislike those machines but wouldn't ban all of them but setting them up in the poorest areas is appalling. Posted by: logprof at February 29, 2024 07:35 AM (kv8NK) 231
