If you want to build your own mini-ITX storage server, there aren't many great motherboard options. The Topton N11 is one. (Liliputing)

If you don't mind buying a $500 motherboard from AliExpress.

It has a built-in Ryzen 7840HS CPU, nine SATA ports, four 2.5Gb Ethernet ports, two M.2 2280 slots, two DDR5 SODIMM slots, a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, supports three monitors over HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C, plus three regular USB 3 ports and one audio jack.

If you want something a bit cheaper, the same company offers a $166 version of the board with an Intel N100 CPU. Two of the USB ports are downgraded to USB 2, the PCIe slot is just x1, and it has six SATA ports rather than nine, but the networking and video configuration is the same.
If you're tired of seeing good SSDs at five cents per gigabyte, the Crucial T705 costs four times that. (AnandTech)

It does run at 14.5GB per second, but so do four cheap SSDs in RAID-0.
Asus' Zenfone was one of the last remaining reasonably-sized phones, though with a 5.9" screen not actually small. So Asus is making it bigger. (The Verge)

As the article notes, even Apple can't convince people to buy smaller phones anymore. I'm just waiting for screens to reach 8" so I can buy a decent tablet once again.

A visit to a tire shop I've used many times over the years confirmed the worst: The wheel, thank heaven, is fine, but the tire's sidewall is toast. As the manager put it, any blow hard enough to break the bead and let the air out of the tire would have carved up the wheel. So I've ordered a new Continental and they'll put it on this afternoon. Price was competitive w/ Tire Rack, and no shipping.

I had my mom put me on her speaker phone and yelled at him "DAD YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED!" several times until I got his attention. In the background I could hear "Kevin" protesting that he was not a scammer and that my dad should go to another room. I finally got my dad to get a callback number and hang up after I checked the number and found out it was bogus.

57 Dad finally realized it was a scam and I got him to turn off his computer and phone, both of which he had allowed remotes access to. Then my sister and I got to work locking his credit and notifying his bank and investment account about the potential fraud.

Dad is 87. His ability to discern ill intentions seems to have been greatly diminished. This was a close one.

I have a client that fell for a variations of that one. You would think an architect in their 40s would be smart enough not to fall for it, but no. These people are very devious and tricky. The guy that had my dad on the phone had convinced him that he was looking out for dad's best interests.

70 Years ago when it those calls were still sort of a novelty I enjoyed going to the microwave and pressing buttons as they gave me instructions for the computer. Eventually I'd ask how many minutes and if we needed to defrost it first, what the power setting should be, etc.

Over the course of the call, the guy gave 3 bogus call back numbers. I looked them all up and none was associated with Geek Squad, and there was no answer when I tried to call them. The numbers were from Michigan, Washington state, and the last one he gave was a 855 number, which the internet says is in Cambodia.

I wish I had a recording of the call. Dad and I will have a discussion about this today.

St. Peter Damian (1007-1072 A.D.) was born in Ravenna, Italy, the youngest of a large poor family. His mother initially refused to nurse him due to the strain he would put on the family. He was later orphaned and suffered from extreme poverty. One brother adopted him, but neglected him and treated him like a slave. Another brother, a priest, took him in and provided for his education. Peter excelled in his studies and in religious piety. Bothered by the distractions of university life, at twenty-eight he left his position to become a Benedictine monk and to lead a life of fervent prayer and self-mortification. He lived during a time of great corruption in the Church, advocating for reform and greater discipline in religious life. He was an influential figure, a friend and adviser to both popes and emperors, and was made a bishop and cardinal. Due to his academic prowess and prolific theological writings, St. Peter Damian was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1823. His feast day is February 21.
