Where is the love for the TI 64 and Sinclair? I owned both. 24 TB hard drives have nothing on using an audio cassette tape storage. Posted by: Lost in Space at January 28, 2024 04:10 AM (ixmOo) 3
With the rate at which SSD prices were dropping last year, hard drives appeared to be doomed. But those price cuts appear to have stalled for now, and predictions are that SSD prices will actually increase this year.
I would like to talk to the manager. Posted by: Lost in Space at January 28, 2024 04:11 AM (ixmOo) 4

Evening and morning, wakeful ones! 'Tis a breezy 53 F. here, good workout weather. I don't feel as though I had enough sleep, partly thanks to big black Stirling being friendly, but I can catch a nap this p.m.
The ceiling leak in the bathroom returned yesterday afternoon. The apartment "management" haven't dropped off my new lease as they promised, either. I'll have to remind 'em. There is talk of a new buyer for the property, and the possibility of the place being demolished is now remote, but nothing is moving. And the only people who show up at the tenants' rights meetings are loud, crotchety oldsters who want to complain and yap about their dialysis or the pins in their legs, instead of planning action. Jeez. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at January 28, 2024 05:14 AM (omVj0) 18

"Leaked Mod Let’s You Enable AMD FSR 3 “Frame Generation” In Any FSR 2 Game, Supports Both AMD & NVIDIA GPUs ...the FSR 3 mod was used to replace NVIDIA's DLSS which means that the game needed to have support for DLSS for the mod to work but with the latest mod, you can also turn FSR 2 games into supporting FSR 3. Support for AMD's FSR 2 games means that gamers won't have to rely on a game solely being based on NVIDIA's DLSS upscaling and frame-generation technology and can simply patch in the FSR 2 framework to support FSR 3 and its frame generation feature." http://tinyurl.com/yu8xzbdh Posted by: Moron Robbie stands in support of afro-chemistry, afro-economics, and afro-engineering at January 28, 2024 05:27 AM (IRAts) 26

Raining here in Babylon DC. Chilly too. Feels like mid 40s. Driving home for the 5-sided nut house in Arlington, I take I395 South. As I was cresting a hill, I saw headlights, pointing the wrong way. Towards me. It was off the side of the road so not in my way. Still, unsettling. Another car was all smashed up in front of it. I can guess what happened. Hydroplaning. It's dark, raining hard, so lets go faster. What could go wrong. Oops. Anyway, I got off at the King St exit and took that way to my homestead. Almost empty roads on a Sunday morning here.

My sons have a chance of seeing the year 2100 if the human race doesn't destroy itself. That's pretty amazing. Who knows what will transpire between now and then.
I dreamed last night of an Oct 7 kind of event. I was in place defending a position in a big arena or square and could hear the screams of people being executed outside. I remember covering an entrance to the area and thinking this it, make every shot count before they get to me. Pretty scary. I sure hope it never comes to that. The Forever Wars probably have a lot to do with it. There's no plan, there's no strategy, there's no win state, there's just 'Go over there and do stuff and maybe get blown up by some dickheads the CIA is probably secretly funding as part of some idiot Yale Game of Thrones jerkoff fantasy they're playing'. Who the fuck wants to go get shot for that? We've had two decades of this now. Almost a quarter century since 9/11 and we're still in the fucking Middle East doing... Stuff. I left the military for good in 2006, and even then it was obvious that they had no strategy beyond 'don't get Americans killed and don't make the hajjis too mad'. “mandatory shut down” today (triggered by 5,000 threshold) and Border Patrol would be required to immediately remove any illegal immigrants they apprehend - no processing, no asylum requests, doesn’t matter if they’re on U.S. soil, they’re being removed mandatorily, and this would not stop until 2 weeks of average encounters below average of 3,750 per day.

Without family connections, without religious community, with a 'diverse' life and work that you have no commonality with anyone else in... What happens? We're a social species. At Insty:
To illustrate how ridiculous Canada’s public life is, the findings by the RCMP and government were entirely driven by a government-funded Non-Governmental Organization, the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, or CAHN. The group was used in a perfect illustration of the Iron Triangle of government and bureaucratic action. The government funds an anti-hate group, which immediately identifies opposition to the government, labels it as hate, feeds it to the police which proceeds to investigate. The astroturfed outfit accused a podcaster of being a “white supremacist” and an “accelerationist.” The RCMP then provided CAHN’s “evidence” to legislators who then fed it to the subsidized media. Like a very, very good little girl, Canadian senator Paula Simons said he (the podcaster) wanted to “accelerate racial conflict to lead to the eventual creation of a White ethnostate,” during a debate in the house. None of this was found in any of the hundreds of hours of said podcast. Nevertheless, it was reported widely across the media as cold hard fact. My first computer was the Atari 800, so cranking it up from 1.79 MHz to 100 would be fascinating. Though you'd need to similarly accelerate the three other major chips, ANTIC, POKEY, and GTIA to get the full effect.
I was really hoping that Atari under the Tramiel regime would do a 65816 update of the platform, as Apple did with the IIGS. They thought about it, I was told by a Tramiel, but updating the chip set to make it worthwhile was far more cost than they could manage. Posted by: Epobirs at January 28, 2024 02:05 PM (/0z9K) 238
