Nikki Haley Doubles Down on Identity Politics To Woo Leftwing Voters, Claiming She Suffered From Racism

There is nothing conservative about this grasping Karen, including her bodycount.

Can Nikki Haley read the room? Apparently not. With the New Hampshire primary just two days away, on Sunday she played the race card in a big way, making outlandish and implausible claims about her youth in South Carolina. Whose votes is she trying to win? Those of patriotic voters who are thoroughly sick of charges of "racism" being used as a weapon or those of the entrenched Washington establishment that weaponized those charges? The answer isn't even close to being in doubt.
Haley came out big for identity politics on NBC Sunday, saying: "We were the only Indian family in our small southern town. I was teased every day for being brown. So anyone that wants to question it can go back and look at what I've said on how hard it was to grow up in the deep South as a brown girl."
Now wait a minute here. It's very common for kids to tease one another, and to seize upon whatever is available to do the teasing with, but did Nikki Haley really experience racism in the deep South? She was born in South Carolina in 1972. So she is talking about suffering from racist teasing in the 1970s and 1980s.

Haley, however, dug even deeper, adding: "If you wanna know what it was like growing up, I was disqualified from a beauty pageant because I wasn't white or black, because they didn't know where to put me. So look, I know the hardships, the pain that come with racism."

It's just not the room you'd think. She's not campaigning to conservatives, she's campaigning to establishment Republicans, Democrats who are unhappy with the Biden and left-leaning independents. That's her audience. That's the "room" she's "reading."

Her goal is to squeak by with the nomination (or have it handed to her by the RNC through rules chicanery) and then run from somewhere a few microns to the right of Joe Biden and ride *his* base into the Oval.

Sure. But two things:
1. She's younger than that.
2. She didn't say that she was refused because the pageant was bigoted. She said she was refused because they "didn't know where to put [her]."

Her implication is that the beauty pageant she was trying to enter - which given her age, would have been between 1982 (low end, 10 years old) and 1997 (high end, 25 years old) - had racial classifications or that she was kicked out for being neither white enough nor black enough. This is preposterous.

This is called - in my industry, anyway - "serviceability." It's usually at the bottom of the list, and that's a problem that I fight every day.

Some companies do really, stupendously well with this in terms of physical products. Dell servers, for example, are marvels of rapid service design.

Sometimes serviceability design shows up in weird ways, though. Replacing the headlights on my Town Car is a pain in the ass, and it annoyed me until I realized why: they aren't designed to be done one-at-a-time. It's a fleet car (fleet platform, really). It's designed to be a quick change in the shop when you have a shelf full of spare assemblies. Pull out the old assembly, dump it on the bench to get new bulbs later, slap in the new assembly. Probably two minutes if you have a spare assembly handy.

But she warned us that all of the people she visited, had one thing in common: they were all of the Brahmin caste, because that’s who she was able to talk to. Even the Christians she interacted with were descended from Brahmins, as she described it.

381 FWIW Nikki's story about the beauty pageant is likely at least partly true. She grew up in Bamberg/Orangeburg and those are areas where the demographics are mostly black. I do not doubt that in the 70s or 80s that there were different pageants - there are STILL Miss Black (insert state here) pageants that lead to Miss Black America pageants. I am quite sure they wouldn't have let Nimarata Randhawa into Miss Black anything then or today. Has nothing to do with the South or the times.

There would not have been a "white" pageant in Bamberg then - there would have been the regular pageant, and maybe she didn't get in - but it would not have been a color decision.

BUT - sra blaster has a few (just a few) years on the Ambassador and she grew up in Detroit. As a "brown" person she and her family found themselves in the real out group - neither black nor white in a black and white world. Even so, she doesn't rely on that part of her biography to gain some sympathy or whatever. It annoys the crap out of her.
