From Oct. 23 to Jan. 17, a total of 47 migrants were arrested in Oak Brook, Illinois, mostly for alleged property crimes, according to Brian Strockis, the chief of police for the Oak Brook Police Department.It would take a heart of stone not to laugh! Sure, a bare majority of the citizens of oak Brook voted Republican, but Northern Illinois is filled with genteel suburban Republicans who are at home with the liberal, globalist, American-hating wing of the party. And as one of their Chicago neighbors said..."America's chickens are coming home to roost." The form of our punishment is the destruction of our society by unbridled illegal immigration: an invasion of people whose ethos and political philosophy is completely alien to the founding principles of America and the marvel of American Exceptionalism that attracted the best and brightest from Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries. Now? We literally have looters! And it's coming to a small town near you! All of those buses and planes taking illegals into the heartland are designed for one thing...to dilute small-town America and unravel the fabric of our society. America can probably manage a de facto default of our government because of insane deficit spending. We can probably survive the loss of Taiwan to the red Chinese. But we cannot survive the invasion from the south. We will become a poor country whose government is fixated on one thing...the transfer payments to the exploding underclass that keep them satiated. And when they end, as they must? Large scale breakdown of society, rampant crime, failure of infrastructure on a scale never seen in America, and the final destruction of a 250 year experiment in self government.

You know, the problem with Rome was not immigration/invasion, it was the lack of assimilation of the barbarian tribes. Once they were allowed to exist as their own political entities, allowed to retain weapons and serve under their own leaders in the army, things went quickly from bad to worse.

Squatters can be bad around these parts. A friend sold her old house and it took forever to get the police to toss the fuckers out.
Another gal who works for me had her car break down. She mentioned that she got everything out of the car, because groups of kids were running around at night and if any car is unlocked, they would steal everything that wasn't nailed down. She went out the other morning to wait for her ride (at 3am) and was shocked and appalled that the police asked her what she was doing out so late and what she was doing.

When I was in law school, there were entire chapters on AP in property law. I was like "who needs to know this now?" AP was once an important area of law, back when the country was still being settled and property ownership was ambiguous. It's still relevent to disputes over fence locations, etc.
But little did I know that it once one day would make a comeback. Democraps will revise the law to provide the property is yours if you manage to stay overnight.

Can't blame the police. Even if they arrest the perpetrators they’ll be released that same day with no bail and never prosecuted. There aren’t any consequences.
Blaming the victims. Its the cops' fault.
Crime is at all time lows. These places close chains because those chains aren't as profitable as they'd like and then blame it on crime.

You will never be able to get them out. Under most cities' insanely pro-tenant laws, anyone who stays for any extended period of time can claim he's a legal tenant. You have to go to court to evict him. Takes months if not years.
Happened in a condo building on the same street as mine. Some gay dude allowed some other gay dude to stay at his place for a few weeks. I don't even think it was 30 days. Boom! No good deed goes unpunished. The guy staying over didn't want to leave and claimed he was a tenant. Took other gay dude like 10 months (!) to get him out.

Companies flee low-crime areas all the time. It's just common.
Especially if you measure crime by what's reported and there have been years of active disincentives to calling the police, up to and including slashing police budgets to the point where they simply cannot report in a timely manner.

Yes. It's a risk all landlords -- including short-term like AirBNB -- take. In a case like that, it should be an easy win in L-T court because you'll have a contract showing a short stay for a specified period. But even then it may take weeks or months to have the case heard. The real problem arises when you have someone stay over for some amount of time without any written agreement. The tenant then says you agreed to x, y, and z. It's his word against yours. Courts will enforce oral leases.

So... I live in KY and this potential 'act' would not do what Vice says it would do... shocka'.
It's mostly the result of city vagrants encroaching on wealthy homeowner's properties... like horse farms or other semi-rural spreads. We live near a quarter-horse stable and I can understand why they'd get pissed off if trespassers kept showing up at their place. Some of these homeless/drug addicted people are violent. They pose a threat to not only the people and animals but they tend to trash property too.
But, yea, it enforces the idea that my property is mine. Which goes against what the commies want.

Last year, I got tacos from a taco truck at a pub. They were very good. Owner of the truck was real friendly and chatty, and said he was doing so well, he was going to open a bricks and mortar location. And he spoke perfect English, too.

Cleaning out the home of our parents after their deaths, we found our maternal grandfather's immigration papers. He was required to have a sponsor that guaranteed the immigrant's behavior. He had to prove he had a job, and swear that he would not take any welfare. Prove he was healthy and carried no disease. All there on the papers.

Almost all of them. There are exceptions for certain types of contracts that have to be in writing (see "Statue of Frauds"). But even then, it takes months for cases to be heard, and generally in the meantime the "status quo" remains as it was (which means if the guy is in your house, he stays in your house). Sounds insane but that's what it is.

Yeah there’s always a risk. But I mitigate as much as I can by screening well. I’ll keep a property empty for a month if need be to get a good quality tenant. Verify income, run credit checks, criminal checks, etc. you can never be 100% safe but yiu can reduce the risk significantly. Too many landlords don’t bother and just take the first person to show up.

If you absolutely need that rent check you should not be in the landlord business. I’ve seen this happen a lot. People always assume best case scenario. Tenants always pay in time. Nothing ever breaks. Vacancy is 0%. And they can barely cover the mortgage with the rent check. Then as soon as reality hits they have no money. They rent to anyone, make no repairs and the property goes to shit eventually.

I think the key to unlocking the current Academy thinking at a group level is to think like a Film Bro: the kind of fervent fandom that's incredibly shallow and determined to bring notice to the underseen and underappreciated masterpieces of cinema: Pulp Fiction and The Dark Knight.
It's the only solid explanation I can give for EEAAO last year and Oppenheimer sweeping the ancillary awards so far this year.
I also think the 10 nominees spreads out the votes to the point where a film with 20-25% of the vote can win while every streamer is throwing tons of cash to win the award and become legit like a few years ago with Apple and CODA (a film they bought and didn't even produce).

I've been in my current dump for a bunch of years. Never saw a reason to decorate the exterior -- I don't have a porch or a balcony. Miss Linda keeps putting wreaths for the season on my door and Halloween stickers on my windows, though.
If I were buying a condo, sure; and the first thing I'd do would be to put those little garden lights on stakes on both sides of the walkway up to my door. But I can't see the reason for it as things stand.

I'm only on the edges of Film Bro culture (it's mostly on Twitter, and I pretty much just use Twitter to promote posts and such), but the love for that film, EEAAO, was...incredible.
People talking like it changed them, like it was the only movie to really make them feel anything. It was also full of dildo jokes with Asian characters and the acceptance of a gay daughter, for sure, but lots of woke stuff doesn't get that traction. EEAAO was the biggest winner of ancillary awards up to the Oscars...ever. It tapped into something for a lot of people in the industry. Being woke wasn't all of it, it was definitely part of it.

So it seems like a solution is for the property owner to not get the cops involved, but rather go immediately to surveillance mode and be prepared to empty the house of contents at a moments notice, and then bring in some furniture of your own and wait for the scum bags to to show back up. Then they have a choice, call the cops and never see their possessions again, or shut up and move on and tell them where their possessions can be found.
The root of this problem is that these scumbags aren't prosecuted and thrown in prison for theft after months of court proceedings proves that they were scammers.

Tried. Floating ads take up the bottom of the screen. When I turn the phone sideways, those ads take up most of the screen. There is no control button to remove them. Increasing the font size only means I have to scroll left and right even more.
But thanks for the suggestions! I'm hoping somebody at Ace of Spades HQ is paying attention and is willing to test their code on the Android versions that are being used out here.
