5 Morning, folken of the insomaniacs! At the library yesterday, I spotted Stephen King's Insomnia, which I hadn't read in years. I thought it would be appropriate.
Then I saw what a huge book it was, and since you only get three weeks and one extension on a book, I put it back.

7 My former running mate is going to come to our church to sing the wonderful hymn, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness"so I'm happy.

Here is a story about a man coming home from a conference. His speech had been a disaster, and many of his colleagues had disdained his ideas. The man was tired and he didn't feel like talking to anybody, so he did the first thing that was guaranteed to keep people away: he opened his Bible. He told himself he' d just flip open and read whatever was there. He flipped open to Psalm 23. "Psalm 23!" he said to himself with annoyance. "I've memorized that Psalm. I've taught classes on that Psalm. What in the world could I possibly learn from this?" But he sucked in his pride and he read. He read "The Lord" and stopped. He took a deep breath and read, "The Lord is," and stopped again. A tear rolled down his cheek and splashed on the page and he felt God present with him there in his tiredness and disappointment. He read again: "The Lord is my shepherd." and oblivious to those around him, he began to weep, enveloped in God's tender embrace. The Lord gets past our walls and defenses to touch us where we most need it.

13 Randolph Scott day today on Grit. I'm not a huge fan of his movies, but there is one called Trail Street from 1947 coming up this evening which hasn't been on Grit before.

Grit keeps saying they will have the network premiere of the 1964 The Outrage w/ Laurence Harvey, Claire Bloom, Paul Newman, and a young William Shatner; but no word yet on when it will run. I saw it on late night TV decades ago and recall it as a Wesern version of Rashomon -- three very different versions of a single event.

Well, I gotta feed the beasts!

47 I think I'm what you could call an optimistic black-pill.

Everything is going to collapse and go crazy, it's inevitable, because there is no person or group on the horizon who even appears close to having the will and the ability to "fix" things the way that they are.

But.... that's a good thing. The only "fix" possible is for a complete renunciation of this twentieth century sickness of smiley-faced lazy-assed collectivism, and a general embrace of good old fashioned liberal principles. Minimal coercion. Individual liability. Personal charity over state enslavement. Celebrating success as a good thing in its own right. Recognizing that Profit is a measure of economic success, and not of raw monetary gain. That only happens when The People learn those lessons the hard way. Everyone would vote to have six pack abs. No one would vote for a strict diet and three hours a day in the gym.

75 The best advice i have is, figure out what YOU believe, first. Who cares about Red Ties and Blue Ties. None of them are worth paying attention to, no one should care about the validity or worth or provenance of these completely abased criminal syndicates. Think about what you believe is right, and then look and see that no one being allowed anywhere near the levers of power actually shares those beliefs regardless of what letter they put after their name.

I need some Socratic way to make a course correction.

They have moved the Cyclorama depicting the Battle For Atlanta from it's original home in Grant Park, where I saw it over 40 years ago. They have done a fine restoration and I recommend seeing it if you get a chance.

A lot of people don't know that the Cyclorama was saved by Atlanta's first black mayor, Maynard Jackson. Jackson was a pretty good mayor, nothing like the radical leftists in charge now.

Here's why (CBS):

Kelly-Moore Paints was founded in San Carlos in 1946. A new owner purchased it in 2022.

The company was looking for an investment to keep operations going, but failed to get the funding.

It blames its collapse on more than three decades of lawsuits related to the old owner's use of asbestos in Kelly-Moore products.

99 There is a general "party realignment" model I've seen, with us currently considered being in the fifth or sixth (don't know or care) iteration of essentially new parties that carry on the names.

There's probably some sense to it. But even that pile of reductive nonsense is far more complicated than the normally vomited up line of "Nuh uh, you're the racists now because my teacher said so".

115 Does anyone honestly think the GOP is going to put Trump's name on their ballot? Seriously?

There would if there was an actual desire to win and govern. But there's not. At least not from this iteration of the GOP. And the actual power brokers probably won't allow it anyway.

IMO it's a "throw-away" election. *biden's successor has already been chosen if he's to be "retired." If not, he's back in the White House.

Only if the power brokers see some seriously bad shit on the horizon do they permit the GOP to run and win with someone like Nikki Haley. Because the media, the Democrats and the public will blame the GOP for whatever befalls the country after that.

YMMV

We can't tell you how many registered voters there are but we know there are more than 133M.

185 But.... that's a good thing.

Apparently, they blocked it from others feeds. Facebook has the ability to read the text in a photograph and apparently the words 'Holy Bible' are a no-no.

When is someone going to report on the fact that the Palestinians and their allies are at was with the U.S.? They have been "protests" for months now where they are intentionally ruining our way of life - attacking Macy's Thanksgiving parade, the Times square new year's eve event, blocking bridges/highways/tunnels during peak holiday traffic. But not just that, they've stormed the Capital several times and now the White House.

All this while the MSM/Democrats insist we focus all our concern on J6. Saw that the WH fencing was damaged and there were WH people injured last night - I assume these were Secret Service agents? If this isn't a coordinated attack on Our Democracy(tm), then what is?

(Oh dear, I need to get some coffee. . .)
