Hunter Biden Caves; Will Submit to Closed-Door Deposition

Breaking.

Hunter Biden caves and AGREES to testify in Congress if Republicans issue a new subpoena after made-for-TV stunt as vote to hold him in contempt is set for next week

'Enough of his stunts. He doesn't get to play by a different set of rules. He's not above the law,' said House Majority Leader Steve Scalise

The contempt articles - voted out of the Judiciary and Oversight committees on Wednesday - will go to the House Rules Committee early next week

Then they will hit the House floor. If approved, Hunter's case will be referred to the Biden-led Department of Justice for prosecution, which is unlikely

By Kelly Laco

Hunter Biden caved and agreed to Republican demands for a closed-door deposition as the GOP moves forward with holding him in contempt following his shock made-for-TV appearance on Capitol Hill in blatant defiance of their subpoena.

His agreement is contingent upon the GOP sending a new subpoena for his testimony. The GOP's original subpoena came in November, before the House's December 13 vote to formally authorize the Biden impeachment inquiry.

'If you issue a new proper subpoena, now that there is a duly authorized impeachment inquiry, Mr. Biden will comply for a hearing or deposition,' Hunter's attorney Abbe Lowell wrote Friday in a letter to Republicans obtained by DailyMail.com.

Don't get excited. I predict with 100% confidence he will plead the fifth. (Actually, he'll read a prepared, heavily-lawyered statement making vague claims about his innocence first.) He won't say he's invoking the fifth clearly; he will say he declines to answer, without specifically giving the fifth amendment as his justification to not answer.

After that, the House can attempt to compel his answers anyway. They can declare that his answers cannot be used against him in any prosecution -- I think they have that power on their own. Maybe they have to get the DOJ to agree to that. (In which case, Merrick Garland will drag his feet.)

Hunter Biden will fight to not answer anyway, saying he wants full immunity for everything he ever did. Not just that his answers can't be used against him, but that he simply cannot be prosecuted for any crimes based on any evidence.

He will fight in court through the election. And then, after the election, Joe Biden will pardon him, his corrupt brother and sister-in-law, and all members of the Biden family who took money from foreign sources, including his old ugly rapist self.

========

Even if Hunter admitted to murder, theft, corruption, and tearing off the tags from his mattress before he bought it, Republicans would still just fundraise off of it.

The best we get out of this is leaks and some narrative, but in the face of the economy and foreign policy failures, it's marginal.

It's not like Garland would do anything with a request to prosecute.

We all know that someone who is NOT FJB is pulling his strings and ordering around the Executive Branch--when individual agencies aren't just going rogue and doing their own thing.

Congress doesn't seem to have much pull other than spending money we don't have to line their own pockets.

And SCOTUS has no enforcement mechanisms if a state or locality decides to defy their edicts.

Who actually has power in this country? It sure ain't the Constitutional heads of the Executive, Legislative, or Judicial branches.

I agree that he will do this....BUT if you read a prepared statement proclaiming innocence...the Fifth Amendment can no longer be invoked. It basically refers to self-isolation (shutting curtains, turning off the phone, and just eating junk food and surfing the interwebs. Drugs (smoking pot or other recreational materials) may also be involved.

So in other words, this is what I'll be doing on Monday (minus any recreational pharmaceuticals).

I think he largely didn't think about it. I think the top levels get different "trainings" than the lower tiers. I think he thought, as a Jew, he was protected.

I also think the shock that he wasn't near the top of the intersectionality stack is what set off the cognitive dissonance that woke him up. Suddenly, it made him realize that he was believing contradictory things and address them, which is something to be admired because that's hard to do.

But, at the same time, this is the whole, "First they came for the communists" thing that the left parades around all the time implying that they won't let any oppression happen. He funded and cheered on oppression of people of other ethnicities for years. I do wonder if he realizes that.

This is a reading of events like the Democrats care about accusations of hypocrisy or feel like they can't rely on the NYT to cover for them.

They will do it because they feel like it is in their power to do it. They will do it because the GOP won't really object beyond more fundraising emails. They will be correct in their assessment that they can get away with it.

If you want to talk about precedent, then they would never have arrested Bannon at all since Holder was never arrested.

Considering what her character was like in that, a fear of her might be pretty darn healthy.

It's the only flaw I have with DI, that Barbara does not impress me as such a femme fatale that MacMurray's Walter would throw his career away and commit murder for her. Remember, it was not just the insurance money they'd share, but that they were hot for each other and her husband would have been in the way. With Barbara -- who played many another role with super success -- I can't see it.

252 During the Civil War there were all sorts of rumors about Mary Lincoln since she was from Kentucky and a few of her sisters or cousins were married to southern officers. it was being discussed by the Committee on the Conduct of the War a bit and when he heard about it Lincoln showed up in person to say that his wife was not a traitor (not in those words) and that put an end to it.

Well, he probably was a foot or more taller than most of them without an axe, and very strong as well. He might not have needed an axe.

The only other thing I remember hearing him carry was the kittens he played with at the Telegraph office where he hung out at times to get war news the fastest. The office apparently had a mom cat in residence.

Yeah its the standard fake populism elitists use when trying to ingratiate themselves with people they despise.
