Unlike the upturned nose which is also highly requested by women, this nose type also looks good on men."

100 Disappointed that it wasn't painted in only black & white but I very much like the coloured original.

Then again, I looked for 1/35 scale WW2 dioramas painted in just B&W to imitate WW2 photos that some modellers paint to show that it is possible to use only a B&W palette [and to appeal to commenters here] and all three search engines shat the bed. Closest was a few colour-painted ones digitally photographed as B&W.

121 The dragonfly came to Western art much later, likely in the 1860s, when Japonisme became a craze after trade with Japan opened up. It was used by Christopher Dresser, the English designer, and his friends in the Aesthetic Movement from 1860-1900, which aimed to escape the ugliness and materialism of the Industrial Age, by focusing instead on producing art that was beautiful.

Dragonflies became ubiquitous in the 1890s because they perfectly captured the ephemeral quality well suited to the turn of the century — life is short, so you must be as brilliant and beautiful as you can in the time you have.

163 I *have* seen Blue Catfish strike insects atop the water, pretty much like a bass might strike a topwater lure.

And then caught said Blue Catfish, using ordinary "stinkbait", hung off the end of a simple cane pole on a nylon twine string.

Blue Catfish are aggressive, voracious feeders. Channel Catfish are the more stereotypical, bottom grazers. They'll go hunting for food, but their whiskers are attuned to what's down on the bottom.

Oh, and finally. Blue Catfish will give you one HELL of a fight on the end of that line. And, they're good eatin', too.

167 Interesting scene. The artist's technique is wonderful: flattering to the model, with clean lines between the dark and light areas, and capturing the subtle textures of the clothing. If there was no title it would be just a pretty image but the title provides a context for the viewer to imagine different scenarios. The outfit is almost funereal even as it is fashionable. She is sitting alone with a consoling adult beverage. Deserted? Waiting? Disappointed? She is still young but no longer a girl and the Prince has not appeared. Is she feeing the first cooling weather of autumn?

Not something I would hang but worth study.

228 Have people been following the Ashley Biden saga?

So to recap a woman came across Ashley Biden's diary at a mutual friend's house - Ashley had left it there while staying with the man when she was in and out of sex and drug rehab stints.

The woman who found it noticed Ashley Biden claimed Joe Biden molested her and went to Project Veritas. PV decided to run not it, because they "couldn't verify" but really they were afraid of the consequences.

When the story leaked anyway the FNM denied it was Ashley's diary and then shortly thereafter the FBI raided PV to seize the "stolen property" that the FNM *still* claims is a fake.

Well the government prosecuted the woman that found it and now they are prosecuting PV too. Their theory? Yes media sources have a right to publish information that was originally gotten illegally but not if they were involved somehow and the argument is PV was involved in the acquisition.

Now all this is bullshit obviously and by this very same standard Nixon could have prosecuted the Washington Post for the Pentagon Papers.

I wonder if there are any GOPe members brave enough to enter the diary into the congressional record?

"Dear Ernest." drawled Emily "You know you could never sock your muse. She might leave. And then where would you be? Writing about old men catching catfish. No! Swordfish, I think."
"Emily, I disagree with your portrait for Lume. Come model for me. I shall paint your nose on your left cheek and your eyes arranged vertically as all women's eyes should be."
"Picasso, you really are a pill." laughed Emily. "But, I shall let you paint me in the nude."

"He learnt a guitar style and some chord shapes that I knew he wasn’t used to and then the songs started coming, 'Dear Prudence', 'Julia'...

“McCartney wanted it too, but he was a leftie, so I couldn’t teach him. But he's so smart, Paul, he was just walking around whilst I was teaching John and he was listening and he wrote 'Blackbird'. And I was so pleased I could share that.”

271 Very nice and I'd hang this painting. (On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774)

Met Museum org: When the Metropolitan Museum acquired this painting just after it was completed, the artist explained that in the autumn of 1911 he had observed a woman seated alone at a table in a French restaurant. Watrous asked her, "Well, has Prince Charming appeared?" Her melancholy answer was "No, and this is the passing of summer." This work thus alludes to the fleeting nature of youth and beauty and the loss of opportunity. About 1905 the artist's eyesight began to fail, and he shifted from exquisitely rendered, tiny genre scenes recalling seventeenth-century Dutch paintings to larger canvases containing idealized female figures, such as "The Passing of Summer".

364 According to the Wikipedia, the painting dates from 1912, based on an encounter the artist had in a French restaurant in 1911. From the woman's clothes, I thought it was from the 1920s. Also, it is in color; I'm not sure why this print is in B&W; though, in truth, part from the woman's skin tones, there's not a lot of color in it.
