The Utah Supreme Court has ruled that police cannot force you to provide the unlock code for your phone. (Ars Technica)
This is pretty obviously protected under the Fifth Amendment, but even so some state courts have ruled otherwise (looking at you, New Jersey) so it is likely to head to SCOTUS. -------------- "The Fourth Amendment, along with the rest of the U.S. Constitution, has no standing. Evening and morning to all the insomaniacals! I'm up early, but I got about six hours' sleep, and a nap awaits this p.m., so no problema.
I'm pretty sure I can name all fifty states, if you'll let me write the names down as I go. I picture the map of the U.S. and work my way from New England outward. But seriously, I have more respect for full on porn actresses than twitch streamers. 'Tis 59 F. outside. We're due for rain this p.m. and tonight, but for now it's cool and (relatively, *very* relatively) dry. Since I did not work out yesterday morning, I need to go today to get my third workout this week.
This Wednesday I'll have the Buick's oil changed and look at the wheels I ordered. If I decide to keep 'em, and my mechanic's machine is fixed, installation time. Car's gonna look sharp, I hope. Thursday morning I meet with the pension fund guy to confirm what I see online. Then I'll sign up for Medicare B -- and retirement moves a few steps closer. Blessed Christmas to you & the Killer Kittens From Outer Space!
...and, best of luck with retirement plans Posted by: JQ at December 16, 2023 *** May you have a special Christmas too, JQ! Yeah, If I put in for Med B this month, I'll be able to sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan in late March, and drop my work health coverage. (Ironically it's cheaper than Med B's premium.) Late March will be about the time I'll have the budget set for next year and can put in my papers, and maybe be out the door by the first week in April. Then, a road trip to the area in KY/IN I have my eye on, to see if I like it. The idea of such a big move is daunting, and I have no idea how to handle it or what it will cost . . . but I've got to do it. Cost me $6000 for three U-Pack containers. Uhaul is in more places than the Pod company , and they are smaller so makes it easier to pay for thr amount you need. Some moving advice Wolfus, FWIW. Sell/donate/throw away as much as possible. You never know how much junk you have until you move.
As for costs...When we moved up to CO we put everything in a pod ourselves in late spring and had it shipped for about $8k. When we moved back we paid about $20k to have the movers do it right after Christmas (in 18 inches of snow), plus a few grand to ship the hog and the wife's car. Oh, and after we bought a house in CO, to relocate from the apartment we were renting to the house about 50 miles away, we packed everything and had a 'starving students' moving company load the truck and drive it up there. Cost about $800 and a meal at the burger place.

Seems ketamine is used in combo to treat fentanyl dependency because buprenorphine wasn't enough....
"But a trio of West Coast doctors is reporting a buprenorphine breakthrough thanks to an unlikely-seeming medication: ketamine, an anesthetic used both medicinally and recreationally and that has hallucinogenic effects at high doses. Giving tiny doses of ketamine as patients begin buprenorphine treatment, they say, has all but eliminated their withdrawal symptoms." Posted by: Bruce at December 16, 2023 06:17 AM (vd8XM) 64

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

We have 4 cats. Momma and her 3 kids; 2 M 1 F. One of the males is purely an outside cat. We see him periodically when he's hungry. The female has a crippled front paw. The other male is a sponge. Momma is sort of an inside - outside cat. The other 2 will sometimes come inside if it's cold.
Nights can be interesting if more than one is inside. Posted by: Martini Farmer at December 16, 2023 09:42 AM (Q4IgG) 422

Now son, what is the first rule of Senate club?
That's right, don't get caught. Why would you video it then, son? Posted by: Lizzy at December 16, 2023 09:39 AM (izj35) --- You film it to prove that it happened. That's part of the kink. And that it's gay sex makes it okay. Homosexuals can do whatever they want because they are victims. Bring a bunch of kindergartners into a sex club, and you get arrested. Bring them to a drag queen show, and you get praise and anyone who objects is a bigot who needs to be arrested. Them's the new rules. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H.
