Oof: Steve Scalise Will Withdraw His Bid to Become Speaker, As At Least 20 Republicans Will Vote Against Him

The Democrats could vote for him but I doubt they will. They are pursuing a Chaos at Any Cost strategy. You know -- like any other day that ends in a -y.

Nick Sortor
@nicksortor

#BREAKING: Steve Scalise will NOT be able to secure the 217 votes necessary to become Speaker, and is expected to WITHDRAW from the race today

@RepThomasMassie
(R-KY) says at least 20 Republicans will not be voting for Scalise

Jim Jordan is expected to jump back into the race for Speaker of the House as soon as TODAY

Via Mister Ghost.

In related news: Kevin McCarthy recently reversed himself and said he would consider taking the post of Speaker again.

And if this goes on, with the GOP unable to agree on a Speaker, that will probably be what happens.

Once he blew his whistle, the five guys who came out with a ball would round out the five remaining positions.

68 From BNN(?) news: Republican Race for Speaker of the House: Elise Stefanik Emerges as Trump's Choice. In a significant turning point in the Republican Party’s internal dynamics, Representative Elise Stefanik has emerged as the frontrunner for the esteemed position of Speaker of the House. This development follows the recent ousting of Kevin McCarthy, who previously held the position. Stefanik’s rise has been bolstered by the influential endorsement of former President Donald Trump, marking her as a key player in the party’s future.

Like much of the GOP, she's more of an opportunist than a true MAGA believer. "Some conservatives have questioned her commitment to the party’s values, pointing to her past moderate stances and voting record."

She is repulsive and not just because she has so badly sold out her constituents with her 180 degree turn on every policy and her Trump sycophancy. I just find her nastiness toward others on a level with that of MTG.

Trumps second pick. This should go well with the Evangelicals. I’m being sarcastic on the second part. Jordan was Trump’s first first pick

84 The reformation of the Republican Party is ongoing. 2024 is not going to be 2020. It's going to be hardball. Young working people making less that 100,000 per annum will vote hard for the GOP, regardless of race. I've seen it. I've heard it. And if the Dems cheat like sonsabitches, they have no idea what will come around.

288 NewsNation host Dan Abrams blasted cable news rival MSNBC [which he used to head up] for allowing its anchors to “pander to the far-left” in their coverage of Hamas’ deadly terror attack on Israel.

Abrams, the host of NewsNation’s “Dan Abrams Live,” singled out MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin, Mehdi Hasan, and Ali Velshi for saying the Hamas assault — which has claimed the lives of at least 900 Israelis — was the result of “failed policies” by Israel and the US.

“Right. It’s Israel’s fault. It’s the United States fault,” Abrams said mockingly in comments first reported by the news site Mediaite.

“The policies that somehow justify or even explain the slaughter, rapes, and kidnapping of innocent civilians,” Abrams said on Monday.

“And that ridiculous commentary set the tone for much of MSNBC’s coverage throughout the weekend, where many hosts seemed determined to say, ‘Well, what about the Palestinians?’”

These women would slit your throat the same as the men do. They have been marinated in the same ideology for generations now and there is no difference in their attitudes towards Israeli s and Christian s than the men. Any that did disagree has had it beat out of them or have been honor killed. You do not just kill the male roaches you kill the entire colony. Any that stayed behind after Israel’s generous warning, too bad.

Here's the thing. The actual conservative republican congressman (of which there are probably only a dozen or so) have always had to eat a sh*t sandwich and vote for the GOPe candidate for speaker (and other positions). They are always promised stuff (like border security or regular order on spending), but none of the promises are ever delivered.

So, why should they go along with the GOPe? At some point someone has to hold firm or we'll never get anything.

401 We have a massively important election in Virginia coming up those in the know realize it could affect who is the president in 2024. Back when I had the slightest involvement, and I mean slight in American politics, the Republicans had Gingrich, dick armey, and Tom DeLay. This was a High Point in the conservative movement, and all the Republicans were united even then we didn’t get close to where we wanted to be.

The six or seven renegades I still have no idea what they want what they’re asking for. They need to get better at it real quick because there quickly becomes a point when people might start thinking they should leave for another party.
