Obssessive Neurotic Leftwing Woman Aggressively Quizzes First Dates About Their Commitment to Climate Justice, Then Actually Admits this in a Newspaper Column

Before getting to that, a "climate scientist" -- an Affluent White Female Liberal, obviously -- documents her "extreme climate grief."

From the former science journal Nature:

A friend sat with me and explained that she had just recovered from an episode of extreme climate grief brought about by studying rapidly changing terrestrial ecosystems. She had started taking weekends off (many of us work seven days a week) and encouraged me to do so, as well. After we talked, I walked around the parking area for a while, listening to the birds and watching the midday light filter through the diverse trees in downtown Santa Barbara. I breathed the ocean air and grounded myself in the present, where the air was cool and the birds were singing.
Soon after that, I started taking weekends off to kayak near my home in Southern California and hike on the trails above Pasadena, and built a small bird garden on the porch of my apartment. I also started talking frankly to my colleagues about the emotional turmoil that is often sparked by working as a climate scientist today, and many others had similar stories. I am in my mid-thirties, working at NASA as a scientist, and I already have five scientist friends with severe, emergent health challenges. They are all affected by overwork, exhaustion and extreme stress. The only other thing they all have in common is that they study climate change.

Another grossly neurotic woman writes a guest essay for the New York Times, showing off her mental illness. Another day that ends in a -y.

What happened: Erica Berry, a female writer from Portland, Ore., announced in a New York Times guest essay that she brings up climate change "on first dates" and refuses to pursue relationships with men who don't share her obsessive thoughts and anxiety about global warming.

What she said: The author describes breaking up with her last boyfriend because he wasn't enthusiastic about having constant "conversations about our planet's future" and how local officials could "support vulnerable citizens through better infrastructure."
* "My boyfriend was supportive of my focus, but he didn't share it," Berry writes of her ex. "When I brought up global warming, he'd often try to comfort me: to wrap me in a hug, cue up an old episode of 'Seinfeld,' offer a CBD gummy."
* Berry has started dating again in the past year. "This time, I am swallowing my fear of sounding too anxious and am talking about climate change early on," she writes. "I don't presume my own perspective is right, but I do know from my last relationship that I'm tired of trying to be chill. I can't care any less than I do."
* She has found that "talking about how global warming affects our lives, however casually, becomes a sort of canary in the coal mine for learning about people's broader beliefs and behaviors," such as "how they engage with science and systemic inequality."
* Sounds like fun!

I have a genuine question. When those of you who are still dating go on a date with a stranger or near-stranger, if the person you're meeting starts talking like this, do you think it's acceptable to just end the date immediately? I'm thinking of a male friend of mine who complained of all the dinners he was buying strange women who never wanted a follow-up date. I mean, that adds up. Can a guy just cancel dinner and say "I'll pay for the drinks, but find your own way home"?

I bet that would result in your name being put on "Bad Date" websites.

But I just don't see the point of wasting an evening talking to a lunatic like this just to keep up appearances. The whole point of a first date is to see how you click. So once you know, you know, right? Pull the ripcord, tear off the bandaid.

Some people might say that what I'm suggesting is just as bad as this woman using a Toxic Screen to weed out any sane people from her dating pool. I don't think so. I'm just saying, if the date is not just a bust but unpleasantly so, why continue wasting more time? Why stand on ceremony?

And money. Let's not forget about the money.

Universal in Orlando is essentially steady, but off its peak. Their other parks (Hollywood and in other countries) are going gangbusters. Orlando doesn't have some of the attractions the other parks have (they're under construction). Next year will be a good comparison, because the parks will be at parity.

Wife and daughter like Hooters. Daughter took my Hooters shirts with her to college. When going there on occasion when the kid was a baby, the waitresses would carry her around, take her in the back, play with her. She was a good kid, had fun and the waitresses enjoyed it too.

The Hooters near me was a sports bar, and the waitresses were dressed very much the way women are on the street -- a T-shirt and shorts. Some of them looked vastly better than the regular run of the female populace, and a few were a bit overweight. This was not a strip bar and the women were not topless. (In a few cases, that was a good thing.)

Food was pretty good and only a little overpriced. this was last February, I think, so it could be $$$ now.

On the one hand, you've got all of these "experts" (see the Morning Rant) running around talking about how humans are causing another great "mass extinction event." Then, voila, some weird new species of critter shows up in an unexpected place, and they always say something like "Well, lookie here! We never even suspected such a thing existed. It just goes to show that we have no idea how many undiscovered species are still out there."

Except they're always sure that the new species is already endangered, due to "habitat destruction" or whatever.

And about that "mass extinction event": if you don't even know for sure how many species are on earth to begin with, how can you say that X% of them are going to go extinct in the next X number of years?

The guy did not drive to the place, my friend had picked him up and given him a ride, so he was stranded. I figured this out pretty early myself. I discovered that giving no fucks is a yuuuge turn on. I don’t mean be an asshole or anything just be yourself. Don’t chase fads, don’t try to impress, don’t care about any of the nonsense.

Basically the context was that everything girls are taught is a lie -- that 1950's housewives were basically slaves and that what women REALLY want is to go to work every day their entire lives.

When I think most women realize at some point in their late 20's that "shit, this sucks. Why did I want this again? If you're on an iphone and the other person has an iphone, you can send iMessages (blue texts), which include the ability to react to texts or reply to specific texts, etc.

If you're both on android, you can do the same.

If one is on android and one is on an iphone, you revert to sms texts like it's 1999, and it's really annoying.

Lease rates have everything to do with depreciation, which is one of the reason luxury cars (which tend to depreciate like falling stones) often have big lease rates.

You will be paying the depreciation, plus administration costs, plus profit to the leasing company. The more brutal the depreciation, the higher the lease cost as a percentage of the original sticker.

Leasing has 4 components. Depreciation rate, money factor (interest rate), length of lease and selling price as a % of msrp. Msrp and depreciation is fixed. Everything else is negotiable.

All those move around a lot depending on several factors. Lexus holds it value very well, but Toyota also doesn’t provide incentives. Range stover values plummet like a rock but RR gives lots of incentives. It takes some time and research but getting kick ass lease deals on luxury can be done. I

I actually dated a gal not unlike Ms. Berry, though mine was a liberal activist for the Arts. Worked at a Major University.... I was moderate when I met her, but her saying things like "I would never date a conservative" actually drove me AWAY from liberalism.
But she was beautiful so I put up with it...sleep walking so to speak..i just eventually woke up.
Anybody Remember when we used to not talk about politics or religion? Anybody know couple who were married a long time and never agreed on politics?
