A San Francisco Walgreen's Was Robbed Three Times.
During a Single CNN Interview About Crime in San Francisco.

Crime problem? What crime problem?

This is all a Dark MAGA ultra-right-wing White Supremacist conspiracy theory, doncha know.

A San Francisco Walgreens was robbed three times while CNN was filming a live segment on Monday.

CNN's Kyung Lah was visiting the shop to report on the rampant crime when cameras caught a man walking out of the store with several items.

"Did that guy pay?" Lah asked the cashier, who answered that he had not. Lah also noted that she witness two other robberies despite spending just 30 minutes at the store.

"Walgreens says this Richmond neighborhood store, with aisles of products like mustard locked behind plexiglass, has the highest theft rate of all their nearly 9,000 U.S. stores, hit more than a dozen times a day when thieves turned to cleaning out ice cream and frozen burritos, workers grew so frustrated, they resorted to the chains," Lah said, referring to the long lengths of chain and padlocks set up in the frozen food section. "They were ordered down by corporate because of the negative messaging."

Lah reported that, at other stores, frozen food, fake eyelashes, lotion, coffee and other items are also behind locked up.

Below, a report from last week about this Walgreen's being forced to chain and padlock all of their refrigerated cabinets due to constant, rampant thieving:

David Strom observes:

When the Democrat Party took its radical Left turn the city moved with it--led it, in fact--and the results have been disastrous.

Retailers have fled, the real estate market has collapsed to the point that buildings are being turned over to banks by major corporations, others are selling at 20 cents on the dollar, and residents are actually picking up and moving out of one of the most blessed cities in America.

You literally cannot buy ice cream anymore without having somebody unlock the freezer.

Oddly, unlike other cities, the crimes are rarely violent, relatively speaking. They are mostly quality-of-life crimes. The sorts of things that make your day-to-day existence miserable. The city is turning into a dystopia before our eyes.

Many people will stick it out, and hardly anybody will vote them out, no matter how bad it gets. Because of inertia, or insufficient resources to pack up and leave.

The wealthy will find a way around the inconveniences, as they do in the third world. Living in the equivalent of compounds with private security, having everything delivered, and being chauffeured from place to place. They will tut-tut about the city's decline, and fund the next Leftist candidate who will make it decline even more.

That is the plan. And I mean that literally: That. Is. The Plan.

They are civilization-destroyers. They want us to return to the state of nature.

A San Francisco business owner -- one of the few remaining ones -- was assaulted right outside his business. He says "I'm f***ing fed up with this city."

Apparently he was urinating right on the sidewalk in front of the store.

Here's the clip he posted on Instagram. [Video at the link above.] You can see a pretty large goose-egg forming on his forehead and he seems to have the start of a black eye as well. "I can't believe I live in a city where people piss in the street and then just come punch you in the f***ing face and get away with it," he said. He added, "I'm f***ing fed up with this goddamn city...This is f***ing bulls**t. It shouldn't be this way at all."

Fortunately, the police arrested the man and are holding him in jail without bail.

I'm just f***ing with you, despite the business owner videotaping him and repeatedly calling the cops, they refused to come.

Harter followed the guy down the street while calling the police but they told him not to pursue the suspect so he stopped. He obviously doesn't expect anyone will be arrested. And unfortunately, he's also softening his tone quite a bit.

If police find the man who attacked him, Harter said he wants him to do community service cleaning up the street outside, rather than going to jail.

This is pretty standard prog-speak in San Francisco. No one is ever supposed to go to jail, especially not homeless people. I'm pretty sure Harter doesn't actually believe this but if you have a business in San Francisco, you can't afford to become the next target of activists who will attempt to ruin your livelihood if you say the wrong thing.

Previously San Francisco had a system in place called "arresting and punishing thieves" but Democrats suddenly discovered in 2020 that we've been Doing It Wrong for 300,000 years of human existence. You know, like they suddenly discovered in 2020 that we've also been Doing It Wrong on the whole "two sexes" fallacy.

It's not the cops that are the problem. The leftist DA offices release people like this faster than the cops can do the paperwork. If the DA would charge, the officers would arrest. But the officers see people who commit even serious crimes going free with not even a slap on the wrist, so they learn not to arrest.

89 Machine jurisdictions don't need to worry about the welfare of the people remaining.

The ones willing to do something are doing something: moving out.

The ones unwilling to do anything are staying and captive.

Why would the machine expend energy making things better. Driving out those that would oppose them cements their power.

This is called the Curley Effect, and the Democrat Party has decided to use it as the cornerstone of their law enforcement provisions going forward.

94 In a strange twist due to a job opportunity I just moved FROM Arizona TO California October of last year. The depths of the dysfunction Democrats have caused on retail operations here is astounding. I'm in both Lowe's and Home Depot every day. Both have employees who have relayed stories to me of blatant thefts such as individuals and groups of people filling up shopping carts with tools and paint and just walking out the door. Anything of considerable value is now locked up like Fort Knox. For a power tool, you request an employee unlock the heavy gates protecting access to those shelves, then the employee - not you - carries the tool to the register and it's not handed to you until they're paid. If you're in the process of shopping, this is a hassle as you then try to track down who has those items up front when it's checkout time. In Home Depot, they had to just shut down the self serve registers entirely because so many thieves buy one small item and pretend to scan the larger and walk out with all of it. That means long lines in the middle of the day that stretch into the aisles to the one or two registers with the checkout girl posted. It's surreal.

No. Just, no. Beyond conflating gender issues with criminal issues, this misses the point entirely. Crime is caused by poverty. Punishing people for being poor is cruel and doesn't address root causes. Until we can eliminate poverty, arresting victims of society and imprisoning them is counterproductive. All such policies do is help to improve the comfort of those who have been accustomed to the ill-gotten luxury of an illegitimate position of superiority that perpetuates poverty and therefore crime.

Until we achieve actual economic justice and equity, continuing the unjust persecution of capitalist society's victims does nothing but sacrifice the poor upon the altar of Oppressor's Comfort.

The thief isn't using force. The government is. It implictly is threatening to arrest owners who defend their property (like that bodega guy in NYC). It's much worse than customary robbers: in a civilized society, an owner can shoot robbers. Here, the government has intervened to protect the criminals and punish anyone who engages in self-help. We're a little past "nigh."

265 94 ...anything of considerable value is now locked up like Fort Knox.

San Francisco is a third-world city. The defining characteristic of a third-world city is the absence of a middle class. You have islands of rich people (they're the ones who own property, etc.) and a sea of violent poverty otherwise. The cities look bright and shining - but only above the third floor. Below that, it's filthy and awful and cannot be hidden.

That's my enduring memory of San Fran. Not the twisty road, which you couldn't get on with all the traffic, not the bay, not Pac Bell Park. No, a guy with a fancy pre-lettered sign, "begging" for gullible tourists to give him money.

295 The urban rot comes in a lot of sizes and shapes. Here in rural Kentucky there was a double homicide a couple days ago. Two Hispanic men gunned down outside a Waffle House by a pair of blacks. It was targeted. Likely tribal in nature. Or perhaps over a woman. People on social media are saying how bad the crime has gotten around town.

The theft at various stores is up too. I mentioned the other day someone posted a short blurb about a woman at an unnamed grocery store who had filled her cart with 'meats and laundry soap' and proceeded to just waltz out of the store. Nobody did a thing. And when she posted photos taken of the woman, the SUV she climbed into and the cart, nearly half the comments were demonizing her.

Walgreens has, for whatever reason decided to allow unmitigated theft. Other chains have too. Not long ago an armed guard at the front of the store would have dissuaded this sort of thing. But, somehow, that's racist now.

My first visit to San Francisco was in 2014, for a conference. We had to take some customers out to dinner and some coworkers and I looked at a map and said, "hey, it's only like a mile and a half. Let's just walk." So we did.

Dodging aggressive bums, trash and needles and the whole place smelled like piss. So did the area around Moscone, but it was worse a bit further out.

355 The inertial is money. You have a $3 million house, but can't find a buyer at that price. Do you sell at $2.5 million? Nope - you hang on hoping it will get better and you get the full $3 million (and maybe $5 million).

But it doesn't get better, it gets worse. Now it's $2 million. Do you sell? Well, now you will lose a whole $1 million. So you wait. Surely the government is going to...fix this problem, right? I mean, how long can this go on?

$1.5 million - well, you've already lost a shit pile of money, what a few bucks more? Surely you are near the bottom!

Something will happen, there will be a preference cascade, and all these houses will hit the market all at once with zero buyers.

389 Walgreens is fine with letting us subsidize the thieves. If they weren't making money they would close.

I don't know about that, they have a lot of competition in their category. They go to pre-order only or they close those stores in those areas. If they are on a lease, they are definitely gone when it is up.

When Chevy Chase pretends to stab her with a banana in the shower, it is clearly her. Her face on her head on her body. There were no CGI effects in 1979, and this movie wouldn't have the budget for them anyway. But believe what you will.

As part of an anthropology project, I went to see some porn in a theater back in the day, and I couldn't believe how hot the female star was, head to toe, perfect bone structure, hair, shape. It opened my eyes to how desperate the scene must have been for seriously aspiring actresses and models. Last week during a House Oversight Committee hearing, a report was shared containing messages from 2020 between British virologist Dr. Andrew Rambaut and Drs. Kristian Andersen, Edward Holmes and Robert Garry.

Rambaut wrote that “Given the shit show that would happen if anyone serious accused the Chinese of even accidental release, my feeling is we should say that given there is no evidence of a specifically engineered virus, we cannot possibly distinguish between natural evolution and escape so we are content with ascribing it to natural process.”

About 40 years ago in my area there was a store called Jafco. It had a small-ish area out front where a single item quantity was displayed out of the box so you could see it, touch it, etc. Every item had a card with the stock number that you pulled and turned into the counter, where an employee would go fetch it from the back while you were in line to pay for it. You would pay and they would give you the item, and you would go home.

More proof to the saying "Everything old is new again".
