Justin Trudeau to Muslims Protesting Gender Ideology Indoctrination: You're All Just Deluded Pawns of Right-Wing American Christians

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed Wednesday that Muslim parents who are fiercely opposed to their children being taught LGBTQ ideology in schools are just victims of "misinformation and disinformation" from the "far right" and "American right-wing." Speaking to a Muslim parent in Calgary, Trudeau attempted to minimize the objections of Muslims and other people of faith to the LGBTQ lessons. "I've heard this concern many, many times and I know that it is a very real issue," Trudeau said in the eight minute exchange recorded on video and posted to Twitter. The prime minister suggested the Muslim objections were based on "misinformation and disinformation" and the work of the "American right-wing." "First of all, there is an awful lot of misinformation and disinformation out there. People on social media, particularly fuelled by the American right-wing, are spreading a lot of untruths about what's actually in the provincial curriculums. "Now if you look at the various curriculums, you'll see that there is not what is being said out there about aggressive teaching or conversion of kids to being LGBT. That is something that is being weaponized by people who are not doing it because of their interest in supporting the Muslim community," Trudeau said. Trudeau also acknowledged that the "Christian right" is also opposed to LGBTQ ideology.

The mistake you'll make is assuming Justin Trudeau is an outlier. He is not. Trudeau is honest. He speaks for the vast majority of folks in the biggest Canadian cities. He speaks for the vast majority of those in the biggest American cities. He speaks for the majority of those in the affluent suburbs around every city.
Trudeau is an expression of the politics of population density. Look at any map. He speaks for the DC to Boston corridor. He speaks for Southern California. He speaks for the fifty biggest US cities, as well as that funky eyebrow shape that is over half of Canada that lives within an hour of the US border.
Muslims have got a good thing going on this. They're adamant that they'll control their own children. That runs contrary to Urban and Suburban doctrine, where nobody's child is their own. On this, I back the Muslims.

Problem is that these countries all now have an active deepstate uniparty and are harder to clean house in. Most of the newer formed states have many ways to insulate the government from having to act on public outrage, especially with more than 2 parties so coalitions can break when the Uniparty wants.

Well its closer to there is "French Canada" - Quebec and everywhere else. The French bloc is a large lump with very different views than the English derived ones and has been placated to keep the peace.
Britain had a similar problem with Ireland in the later 1800s which caused such a nuisance that it made letting Ireland go more palatable than anyone thought earlier than that.

Worth mentioning that Canada -- like the UK -- uses a "first past the post" system where the top vote getter in each constituency is elected to parliament rather than proportional representation like many (most?) other parliamentary countries. FPTP gets a little dicey when you've got significant third, fourth, fifth, etc., parties which are often very regional in nature.

Parliamentary systems fail unless a culture exists for wanting a two party system that integrates the factions and moderates them. Look at the Greens in Germany destroying the economy now that they have the whip hand in the coalition. Inside a party a green faction can be argued over, coerced bribed or expelled.
Same is true for our system but the 100 percent to zero makes combining into 2 parties mandatory for success.
Anything aside from first past the post is criminal and fatal for a system.

I'd switch out our west coast for British Colombia and Alberta. We may lose a little bit on the agricultural side with CA but eventually a net gain.

Lemeiux missed several seasons with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. When he came back, he was almost as dominant as he was prior, but only played for a few more seasons.
I didn't say he was greater than Gretzky, but he would've taken several of his NHL records had he been able to complete a full career as Gretzky did.

I remember that marriage was taken seriously. I remember my dad being upset because thee fed income tax went up 3%. I remember the family discussions at my grandmothers house about the Korean War and the truce. I remember my first day in school in September of 1955. I remember that neighborhoods where everyone knew each other. I remember the freedom I had as a child to wander to new and exciting parts of said neighborhood.
Like I said, I feel sorry for you're lack of awareness when you were growing up.

The 50s uniparty might as well be called conservative since both had views that wanted business to be able to grow and adjust to the men coming back and both had similar views about foreign threats that weren't too aggressive. I have handled a tin-type of my 2-Great Grandparents (he was as Civil War veteran). Someone back then painted in fleshtones and other colors to make it a color picture.

People also look at Mantle, and believe his early career injury severely limited his potential, and then there's Koufax, and how injuries limited him.
These are always those "we'll never know" things. Maybe there's a difference between injuries that are the result of how one plays the game (I'm thinking of Fred Lynn and Eric Davis, as two examples are relatively recent careers), and those related to disease or whatever. I don't know. In the end I stick with "we have the data we have," and not spend too much time thinking about what might have been.

People have opinions about the 50s. It's really popular among younger Republicans. It is not a part of the Conservative ideological identity, which is also mostly dead/gone among younger folk. There hasn't been much thought about the 50s or how to recreate them in Conservatism. That focus is again, in the younger crowd, they make lots of videos and stuff about what they imagine it to have been like.

Some people laughed because he was doing something the doctrine at the time said was wrong. A lot of people thought what he was doing was too dangerous. Back when Fosbury was doing his thing, at most meets, people weren't jumping onto a mat. They were jumping into sawdust pits. Falling onto your upper back or neck was downright stupid in some circumstances.

Yep. Born in June of '47. Cruising Perth Amboy downtown in the summer of '64 was exactly as it was portrayed in American Graffiti. Growing up in the 50's was great. Lots of friends, Saturday matinees at the local movie house, no helicopter parents. Nice time to be a kid.

They're not saying what you're accusing them of saying. People can have opinions about a decade. We don't spend our time here talking about the 1950s, go to a corner of the internet where they do or check out youtube and you'll see the young modern Republican fanbase of it. It's part of whatever new ideology that's forming in the Republican party, not part of the historical one.
Just go read any history of American Conservatism even wikipedia or something. It's a New Deal reaction. Eisenhower doesn't get listed with Harding or Coolidge despite them predating Conservatism(it attempted to do what had been done after WWI in rolling back the state). Most of the social conservative issues didn't even really come into play until much later since they weren't disputed before.

Where people get nostalgic is the realization that the 50's was the last decade where we shared similar cultural norms as a people. The 60s led to the deconstruction and tearing down movement. Detroit failed due to the 60's. Vietnam failed because of the 60's. Urban enclaves started their march towards being hellholes. Men realized they could get sex for nothing.
That's what people think about when they remember the 50's. It's a reaction to the failure of the boomers as they came of age.
