Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Ignoring the Recent Supreme Court Ruling That He Cannot Forgive Federal Student Debt Without Congressional Authorization, Biden Moves to Cancel $39 Billion in Debt AnywayThe man who unleashed the worst inflation in history and who has caused budget deficits to soar to impossible levels again claims he can spend $39 billion of taxpayer money without any actual law authorizing it. Is the nation just floating on piles of cash that we're desperate to give away, rather than pay the storage costs for? Apparently not! The government is borrowing five billion per day.
Biden says, "Hold my beer." They're just going to keep pushing slight variations of previous initiatives, claiming each time that the Supreme Court didn't invalidate this particular attempt to spend without Congressional authorization. If you can believe it, citizen trust in democracyis plummeting. Meanwhile, Republicans look to cut one billion from the budget of the Democrat Stasi group the FBI, and also press other reforms. Such as forbidding the FBI from withholding the salaries of its whistleblowers, attempting to starve them into submission with the FBI party line. Republicans on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies on Friday advanced legislation to reduce funding for the FBI by $1 billion. The committee advanced the 9% budget cut in a party line vote, the Washington Examiner reported. The bureau's 2024 budget would fall from $11.3 billion in 2023 to $10.3 billion under the plan. It would further require the FBI to conduct politically sensitive investigations under the oversight of a bipartisan group of Department of Justice staff while also forbidding the bureau from withholding the salaries of its whistleblowers.Jonathan Turley on the FBI. He notes that Wray blames the FBI's abuse of FISA on his predecessor -- ignoring the fact that the actual people who approved the illegal wiretap requests are all still in power, and still violating the law. And they just keep saying "Whoops! Whoopsie!"

""For far too long, borrowers fell through the cracks of a broken system that failed to keep accurate track of their progress towards forgiveness," Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a statement. "By fixing past administrative failures, we are ensuring everyone gets the forgiveness they deserve.""
I'm shocked. A not-inaccurate statement from a Biden regime functionary. Sounds like he's talking about the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, through which you could get your balance forgiven if you'd made... IDK... 10 years worth of qualifying payments, working in a government or government adjacent job. Of course they "fell through the cracks" because Congress kept changing the requirements and because... well... it was administered by government functionaries. ____ Aren't there laws protecting whistleblowers already? What good is passing new laws if they are going to be ignored anyway? GOP loves the poorly educated. They are easier to control with lies and conspiracy theories If we'd stop spending so much damned money on missiles and war and chose to invest in our own people, we'd have healthcare, dental care, and free college, because an educated labor force betters the entire society. Our society operates in a profit-over-people mode (by legal doctrine - see 1919 MI Supreme Court ruling against Henry Ford). You sound like a job killing socialist! Everyone knows we have to give more money to the wealthiest so they can create jobs (SARCASM) The people who were helped need to vote for President Biden next year. Period. The promise to help the poor is sad, but all the bailouts for billionaires is evil. We just saw that yet again with Silicon Valley Bank, full of the rich (and many ties to China) that just didn't want to lose money, so Uncle Sugar bailed them out with the working stiff's money. But small banks are not promised those bailouts, so small banks are stressed because they can't match what BigGov pays in interest, and can't offer that "over $250K will be insured, because we are special" that the big guys can offer. Here's my student load reform. Colleges must provide them from their endowments and if the person doesn't get a job from that degree it has to eat the money. Thus vague garbage degrees would be less likely to be offered since they lose money. If the number of defaults rises above a certain percentage the college administration is fired and tenure is negated for poorly performing branches.

You know, loaning the government money to fund their retirement. You know, a smart 5% safe return--that increases the money supply and holds inflation over 10%. Posted by: Montec at July 17, 2023 05:19 PM (S2RnY) It was capped because the number of people in it was harming the ability of the body to do anything. This cant' be said for almost all of the rest of government. We need a lottery that abolishes entire departments, dumping all the workers into the productive side of the economy. Let its function, if any, be absorbed into another one. Then go into the remainder and fire 10 percent of the people there at all levels. 10 percent of janitors, paper shufflers, admin types... if your department cant' explain its job to a jury of regular people in 10 sentences, it is abolished and you are fired. No government pensions or unions. The government is all wise and never makes a mistake. Posted by: Oldcat at July 17, 2023 05:35 PM (eoQWY) 223
re student loans.
From what I gather, he is redefining the terms in this way: If you pay off the loan for 20 years and still have a balance, it is supposed to be forgiven (which is an insane provision, but it is what is is.) If you do not pay it off, no forgiveness. Missed payments, etc. mean the 20 year term is extended. Biden is giving these people credit for partial and attempted payments. That means --"Hey, just stop paying and in 20 years it will be dropped." That means $39B is a lowball, and in reality he just gave away the whole treasury. It was capped because the number of people in it was harming the ability of the body to do anything. The House as the seat of deliberations was waning in the early 1830s and yielding to the house as the 200 or so were too many and the Senate was about 60 or so. Posted by: Iris at July 17, 2023 05:36 PM (n3DL0) If you look pre-Civil War, sure, speeches did a lot and people like Calhoun, Henry Clay, Webster, Sumner were very influential in mobilizing public thought about the big issues debated in Congress. They were rock stars. Lincoln Douglas Debates put hours of discussion by both sides of the question out in public and were listened to by many and read by even more. Douglas' relenting to his constituents aversion on slavery extension to win election in 1858 broke his support in the Deep South and assured that a Republican would win in 1860. Lincoln's speeches there, and in later tours around the country put him in the mix for being that president. Those days are gone, of course. Posted by: Oldcat at July 17, 2023 05:48 PM (eoQWY) 276

Here is how inflation is going.
McDonald’s has the buy a McChicken get one for $1 deal. It’s been there for years. And I’m a sucker for those things and a bigger sucker for the $1 deal. Used to be $1.99 for the first one. Then slowly started going up to $2.29 then $2.59. Recently it was increased again to $3.09. That’s 50% in maybe 2 years and about 20% in less than a year. But yeah man inflation is like totally under control. Posted by: Montec at July 17, 2023 06:04 PM (Ld8nt) 317
Plus, there's a chance the government will pull an FDR on gold and make it illegal to possess. Posted by: Dr. Pork Chops & Bacons at July 17, 2023 05:57 PM I could see pre-WW2 Jews using gold to bribe their way out of Germany (and I have out-laws who survived by doing just that). But I can't see a post apocalypse USA with border guards keeping people in. Food and water. Electricity. Heat. Maybe Bill Gates will want your gold bars, but all he's gonna give you is Windows 12 beta. 301 The problem with the "inflation is less" shout, which is technically accurate, is that inflation is still very high and it still is making things cost a lot more. So less high is still high, and does not help people much.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at July 17, 2023 05:56 PM (0hOvj) The Junta wants the LIVs to believe that low inflation, solely due to Bidenomics, magically makes goods cheaper than they were last month or six months ago or at some past date that had 6-8 percent inflation! Yay! Vote for Joe! Especially after we lie and tell you your wages increased at a faster rate than inflation since Joe became dictator! It's always smoke and mirrors from the left. "They're just going to keep pushing slight variations of previous initiatives, claiming each time that the Supreme Court didn't invalidate this particular attempt to spend without Congressional authorization."
If this specific effort is actually as-described (I know, I know...), then this would be legit. Even though you're not wrong on how they're just ignoring SCOTUS as they feel like. Cliff notes summary: The feds told certain graduates, "hey, go work in shit public jobs for 10 years and we'll forgive your loan balance after 10 years' worth of qualifying payments". Then they nationalized the loans in 2009, contracted cronies to service them, and the cronies proceeded to "whoops! whoopsie!" fail to properly track the payments, AND failed to correct errors while fleecing borrowers. The rejection rate for borrowers who submitted their paperwork after a decade-plus of teaching the the ghetto, etc, was hovering around 99%. It's absolutely disgusting. And also intentional, as they've "broken" educational lending post-2009 to justify further interventions and to create a wedge issue. Note they didn't seek to fix this first - they WANT you to complain about it. Posted by: somedood at July 17, 2023 06:10 PM (BF5+T) 321
The Dems have basically teed up outrage vs. legit reforms by sending multiple trial balloons of bullshit out first to rile people up. Conservatives can't keep up and aren't paying close attention to what is actually going on and to what the real purpose of a particular prog maneuver is.

How to stop them once they've given $50k to teachers, more to administrators, and up to $350K to physicians through the Public Service Program & associated loan forgiveness?
There were 'professionals' calling into local radio shows complaining their public service counterparts were going to Europe and having their kitchens remodeled wuth big bucks & they want theirs, too. No more will grandma & Uncle Bob not be reimbursed for helping family with tuition. How did O& Joe get away encouraging /demanding school loans be through the government & then forgiving them Carte Blanche? They played us. Thanks, again, Congress. If this is to be our lives, no longer a system of checks and balances anywhere, no Send a of fairness, and losing what we worked so hard for, we don't need hundreds & hundreds of Congressional members & their tens of thousands staff members, MO only.
