Have you ever had a cat who chirped?

Cats are typically joyful when they chirp, as they are either anticipating a hunt or greeting a human. When a cat is enthusiastic about a bird or bug she sees, it may assume the position of stalking, and stay low to the ground. On the other hand, "Cats that are greeting a housemate or family member will often show their happiness by headbutting, or asking for attention," while making the chirping noise, says Dr. Wilson. Another way some cats like to say hello is by rubbing against your legs.

On the other hand, she and her husband became parents of twin boys in January.
He is much different with the babies.....

Oh, my goodness! That's way too sweet. . . .

A while ago, I introduced you guys to my 4 feline morons - Peanut, Johnny, Spooky, and Mackerel, as well as our dog Fred, rabbit Cookie, and 2 Gerbils. Well, as if our house wasn't crazy enough, let me introduce to you TANK - our 26 pound cat (Maine Coon I believe) who certainly lives up to his name.

We couldn't pass this cutie pie up - unfortunately he had to be surrendered because his owner had dementia and had to go to live in a nursing home that did not allow animals. Plus poor Tank was a senior cat at 15 years old, so we knew his prospects of adoption were very low, so we thought what the hell - what's one more?

Unfortunately, he's taking a while to get accustomed to the rest of our brood and it doesn't help that Johnny steals his food and tries to invade his personal space! To help Tank at least get accustomed to humans, we set up a cot in the basement so he can at least cuddle up with one of us each night.

For as big of a unit as he is, I swear he's a floofy ninja - I'd be laying in the cot reading a book and suddenly feel a "presence" near me and when I look to my side, he's intently staring at me as if I was his next meal!! It is also funny when he tries to climb up on me, his "girth" prevents him from completely crossing over my body so after struggling a bit, he just gives up halfway and the I have a 26 pound weight on me until he decides to leave. For as old and huge as he is, Tank certainly loves to play with a string and the ubiquitous red laser dot.

We love our large and in charge floofy ninja and hope that he has many more years to live out with us at Chez Jacque Assarie!

We lost Corney to the rainbow bridge a few months back and even before his transition to beyond the kids have been asking for a puppy. I initially tried to delay until next year but they wore me down. To be fair, of my kids (6,3,1), only the oldest has any type of memories of dogs that were active enough to enjoy. The past couple years with Cornet were more keeping the old man comfortable and not bothering him than enjoying companionship. Another story, but he was a rescue and had a tough life before he was able to rest comfortably, we thought it only fair to accommodate him.
Anyway... they broke me, with the help of my wife to break the stalemate. I only had one request as I gave in to their demands. This dog needs to do more than be a lapsitter. I wanted a dog that had more utility. "What kind of dog do you mean", she asked. I answered, Belgian Malinois. Thinking she would rethink and possibly come back with some delay. She knows me, and thus called my bluff with an ok let's go. We know what we are getting into, and I won't lie I'm excited about the puppy. One of a litter of ten born just a month ago, we will be picking him up next month and preparation has already begun. Including the naming contest. We hope to have the name down to a top ten by the end of July so we can get to the business of naming and training.

We don't have them yet but the family that has them have sent pictures. I've attached the puppy as well as pics of Mom and Dad. Dad is about 85 lbs and mom weighs in about 75. So we expect him to be a good sized boy.

I'm not sure what constraints the post has but in the dad pic you can see mom standing behind him if you'd like to save space.

Sorry that your family lost Corney. The new puppy is adorable. Dad and Mom are impressive. I'm guessing that Puppy will be a project!

Hello, KT! What's a MoMe without a mascot? Or a masCAT?

This skinny little fella was quite friendly until he figured out we didn't have anything interesting to feed him.

He doesn't count as a pet, I guess, but he provided a few minutes of entertainment in the "Entertainment District" where we Morons were gathered on Saturday.

Thanks for faithfully hosting the pet thread! I always enjoy reading it.

A Moron MasCAT! I like it!

These 2 jokers have been featured before, but it's been awhile.

The miscreant in the box is Bingley, who really should have been named Wickham or Willoughby. He was helping me pack to move from Iowa to Wyoming, a little over 3 years ago. We have since moved again. He's a great little traveler. Bing turned 5 years old this week.

I ran across the other photo while rereading my texts with Jesse from a couple years ago. He thought it was pet thread worthy, but I forgot to send it in at the time. Bing must have got into the Valu-Rite. The gray and white boy was Gonzo. I lost him to cancer in April 2022, about 2 months after Jesse died. G and J had a strong bond based on mutual respect and tuna. Bing and I miss them both.

Bing has been a big help since my mom came to live with me. He took to her right away and she thinks he can do no wrong.

Thank you for the pet thread. I often miss reading it "live" but always go back to see what I missed.

Hello from Virginia! Long time lurker here. Big fan of the Saturday PetThread, I enjoy animals much more than people. I have never commented before, but thought that this would be the appropriate time to do so. This is Magick, one of our rescue kittens. A unique kitteh for sure, she was the only cat that would suffer the attention of our 4-year-old son. He became her person, and that bond lasted until this past weekend, when we had to say goodbye. She was 19 1/2. Needless to say, my son was devastated at her loss.
