Secret Service Ends Investigation Into White House Cocaine, Claims All the Cameras in the Most Secure Place on Earth Can't Point Them Towards Any Suspect
The Secret Service, one of America's Top Men Law Enforcement agencies (they investigate counterfeiting and threats to the president), just can't figure out who smuggled Hunter Biden's cocaine into the White House.
It's just a small bag you guys. CNN needs you to really internalize that. It's barely a crime.
CNN -- The Secret Service has concluded its investigation into the small bag of cocaine found at the White House and has been unable to identify a suspect, two sources familiar with the investigation told CNN.
LOL.
Secret Service officials combed through visitor logs and surveillance footage of hundreds of individuals who entered the West Wing in the days preceding the discovery and were unable to identify a suspect, one of the sources said.
Another Jeffrey Epstein level cover-up. All the cameras were facing in the wrong direction at all times!
Investigators were also unable to identify the particular moment or day when the baggie was left inside the West Wing cubby near the lower level entrance where it was discovered.
Turns out, they do have a suspect: Anyone but Hunter Biden.
The second source said that the leading theory remains that it was left by one of the hundreds of visitors who entered the West Wing that weekend for tours and were asked to leave their phones inside those cubbies.

Popular(aka peasant) rebellions are quite a bit different from revolutions lead by members of the elite. The latter doesn't require the former, though it's not unusual for popular rebellions to lead to members of the ruling class deciding it's a good time to make a bid for power.
Elite revolts are more about power and interests. Weakness(or attacking the interests of the elite) in the ruling authority makes them more likely.

Ordinary people must make up the main body of the forces in either case, but it is the presence or absence of significant elite leadership that tends to make a big difference.

I believe this too. Epps very specifically denied working with or for the FBI, but there are so many other law enforcement agencies. FBI wanted to charge him, then they found out he was working for some other agency.
They can't admit Epps was a government agent because everyone can see him inciting. To admit he's theirs is to admit Jan 6 was orchestrated. But they also can't charge him because he's one of theirs.

There were laws and sentences, mostly against abolitionists living both north and south of the Compromise line. Antebellum law tended to favor the slave owners, aside from non-importation. But slaves continued to run away and make their way northwards, where they were made welcome. The Dred Scott Case and the Fugitive Slave Law were federal laws made to appease the Slave South at the expense of the state rights of the non-slavery North. So the cotton kings demanded things go their way all the time, and thus called the storm when the other two-thirds of the Republic got tired of catering to them.

You make good points, Sharon. But considering the restrictions of the Hays Code in those days (pr0n front? Gay men? No way), Brackett and director Hawks did pretty well.
A lot of older novels could benefit from a limited mini-series treatment, like the recent adaptation of Mildred Pierce. But of course, nowadays so many in H'wood are woke or have no idea how to appreciate written works.

IIANW, and from my experience in dealing with similar security, you get sent to a bank of lockers to strip out your pockets and the lockers are watched, and not secured otherwise.
When I was going in and out of the state hospital, I had to remove everything since it could be used as contraband or weapons.
It really would be a good place for a dead drop, you just had to have a reason to be there.

I don't know many modern actors beyond Daniel Craig and Chris Pratt, both clearly not right for Marlowe. Neeson did very well as Lawrence Block's recovering-alcoholic ex-cop, Matthew Scudder, in A Walk Among the Tombstones a few years ago, though.

I don't think "revolution" really describes any of them, nor do I think any of those things are as likely as alternatives like balkanization.
