In her book Time to Think, Hannah Barnes found that between 80 to 90 per cent of adolescents referred to the Tavistock paediatric gender clinic in 2012 were same-sex attracted. Studies have long confirmed a correlation between gender non-conformity in youth and homosexuality in later life. At the Tavistock, staff used to joke that soon 'there would be no gay people left'. Somehow, the medicalisation and sterilisation of homosexuals has been reframed as 'progressive'.You remember Tavistock -- the only gender clinic for children in England -- closed due to malfeasance.
Even Stonewall - the UK's foremost LGBT charity - has defined the word 'homosexual' on its website and promotional materials to mean 'same-gender attracted'. In Portland, lesbians arrange for large parties in disused industrial spaces and whatnot using closed Facebook groups, so the trannies can't find out about the parties.

Interesting question. Christmas celebrations in schools came from a shared culture. Christmas merchandise came from a desire to capitalize on an existing need.
I'm not a social expert but I don't think that sexual perversion is a shared common culture. Crrating a month and products for it seems like an attempt to make a shared culture and profit from it.

This is probably more of a book thread thing, but whatever... I finally started my re-read of Epictetus' Discourses that I've been meaning to get around to for, oh, fifteen years or so. Seems like a good thing to do for Fidelity Month, eh?
There are many awesome things in that book. But this quote struck me as particularly pertinent in regard to the moral and intellectual decay of a purely materialistic society such as ours. That decay includes the current forced (and surreal) society-wide genuflection before sex-perverts, but it manifests itself in manifold ways.
Epictetus says: "You will do the greatest service to the state if you shall raise, not the roofs of the houses, but the souls of the citizens: for it is better that great souls should dwell in small houses rather than for mean slaves to lurk in great houses."

The rainbowistas have every need to be ashamed. So very ashamed. Not over being gay, such is their right.

We have a DEI group at work. Probably just a few people but still waste of money. The head of the group used to be a butch looking lesbian. Now she changed her name and I guess her pronouns to masculine. My gut feeling is that was about being more special cuz just being L is pretty much a yawner now.

I know, because after being out in ETX for over a year, the novelty has worn off and now its just natural to fix what is wrong. Except it is just a different culture.
Example: In an HOA in the city, park your car in the front yard and within minutes a hailstorm of rage, lawsuits and threats of personal injury. Out here, the yards are rutted from continued use as a parking lot. Here, dogs running wild isn't questioned, but most people respect others that they manage their canines.
If a person can't handle the culture they live in, find one that they can or learn to understand why a person who is on a small or fixed income isn't interested in spending tens of thousands of dollars they don't have to build a garage and concrete driveway to satisfy someone else's aesthetic preferences.

They become conquerors. They can't help it. Speaking as a Southerner, we tend to be friendly and gracious and try to help folks when we can, but we also tend to live and let live. The locusts aren't built that way. They can make it for a few months, maybe a year, and then they're running for local office to "fix" the reason they moved to the area to begin with.
In my small town, we have another variant of this. People sell their homes in inflated blue areas and buy here because the same money gets them a junior mansion because its far enough away from the modern conglomerate city to have lower prices. Keep in mind there are many other options closer to the conglomerate. The newcomers whine that they were "promised" upgrades, ie all the things a modern suburb has. They don't want to accept that they paid less BECAUSE they bought in the sticks and are greedy wanting their houses to magically become worth as much as the modern suburb ones. A pox on them all.

Intersex abnormalities are not strictly X and Y chromosome mediated. Examples include congenital adrenal hyperplasia (masculinization of the genitalia) and testicular feminization aka androgen inensitivity (feminization of the genitalia). These are mediated by hormone levels and end organ response (or lack of) to hormones such that an XX individual can have external genitals that appear male and XY individuals can have female-appearing external genitalia.
The important thing is that these conditions are incredibly rare and are not the main drivers of the current gender dysphoria mania.

In my line of work, I occasionally get exposed to the 130+ crowd. Obama may at best be 110. One characteristic of the honest genius is that they have a remarkably tight OODA cycle and pick up topics exceptionally fast, they also bore quickly once mastering something so a clue is that they have a LOT of former hobbies and interests.
Obama has shown zero interest in anything other than himself and claiming raw power. That is not intelligence that is the Dark Triad.

I think you can tell in certain circumstances, but it is not necessarily speaking well. It is how they speak and word choice. The best example I can think of when trying to illustrate this is the Tolkien interviews. He is not speaking in front of a crowd, but his words spill out over one another and he is being very precise in his word choice. It is not a great speech (answering questions) but it is one of the closest I can think of as a stream of consciousness.

I always looked at it this way: In what possible way would 'knowing' (based on the slightly arbitrary way we have of testing 'intelligence') how smart I am be to me. If it was high, would it do anything but stoke pride? If it was measured low, would it do anything but feed an inferiority complex?

More likely it was a case of reading but not being able to understand what you are reading. He saw 'corps' and his first thought probably was they left off the -e. He was not understanding what he was reading but just by rote disclaiming(declaiming? repeating?) what was on the teleprompter.

Yeah. He sounds really impressive in one speech. But then if you hear any more you recognize that he only has one speech, he just says different sounds each time. He uses the same metronomic movement of his head, the same tones, the same beats, the same patterns.
Its a single memorized device, which he plugs into whatever the teleprompter fed him. And its why his continually making speeches hurt him: people got really tired of it in a hurry and it became annoying, not inspiring.

I am not sure intelligence by itself is the thing you should prize in a leader. Rather, it is wisdom and being able to make the right choice and sticking to it no matter the slings and arrows chucked at you that is more valuable. At least to We the people.

It is a tough skill, but from my dimly remembered speech class (MANY moons ago) they try to teach you not to tunnel vision and stare straight ahead. You are supposed to move your head and let your eyes come to rest on different people without losing your concentration.
He tunnel visioned, but only to two different teleprompters.
Although one might argue that he just never had the discipline to learn the skill.
