Former Head of the Center for Disease Control Locked Out of Discussion of Covid's Origin by Anthony Fauci;
Fauci Wanted a "Single Narrative" on Covid and Froze Out All Dissenters
Ahhhh, can you smell that?
That is pure sweet
Science you're smelling. Science always decides on the "single narrative" first and then picks and chooses which experts will be allowed to opine on the issue depending on whether they support that "single narrative;"
didn't you know that, you big Science-Hating Bigots and Transphobes?
Trump administration CDC Director Robert Redfield told a congressional committee Wednesday that his former colleague, Anthony Fauci, and former National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins froze him out of discussions on Covid-19's origins.
The accusation came during a politically charged hearing Wednesday of the House Oversight and Accountability Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic and stoked Republican claims that Fauci in early 2020 promoted the view that an infected animal spread the virus to humans to divert attention from research the U.S. sponsored at China's Wuhan Institute of Virology.
"It was told to me that they wanted a single narrative and then I obviously had a different point of view," Redfield told representatives.
Redfield said Fauci, who led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the time, and Collins left him out because Redfield suspected the coronavirus had leaked from the Chinese lab.
Fauci, who was not at the hearing, dismissed Redfield's accusation as "completely untrue."
"No one excluded anyone," he told POLITICO after the hearing.
"And the idea of saying that he was not wanted there because he had a different opinion ... there were several people on the call who had the opinion that it might have been an engineered virus," said Fauci, who retired from his government post at the end of last year.
...
The former CDC director said he later found out he was excluded from a Feb. 1, 2020, conference call with Fauci and Jeremy Farrar, a U.K. scientist who at the time led the Wellcome Trust, and other conversations that resulted in the publication of an article in Nature in March 2020 dismissing the possibility of the virus originating in a lab. Farrar is now the World Health Organization's top scientist.
Fauci told POLITICO he was not involved in the drafting of the article.
But Republican representatives at the hearing accused Fauci of having orchestrated it to deflect attention from U.S. funding research at the Wuhan lab.
"I think Dr. Fauci and Dr. Collins got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. They got caught supercharging viruses in an unsecured Chinese lab," said James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.
Note the only thing that Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) care about:
eroding confidence in our very honest, very competent Regime leadership!
Fauci murdered millions -- but the real tragedy will come if public trust in the NIAID slips by 8%.
Some Democratic representatives at the hearing warned that accusing Fauci of ill motives would further erode trust in government health officials, threatening public health.
When asked about the origin of covid-19 by Congressmen, he once again affirmed that based on his analysis, it is far more likely covid-19 was cooked up in Fauci's Chinese Little Shop of Genetic Horroris than that it evolved naturally.
And when asked if Fauci's precious gain-of-function had ever resulted in a single cure or vaccine, he said no, no it has not. In fact, he said, gain-of-function has "probably caused the greatest pandemic our world has seen."
Videos below.
Fauci must go to prison. If the feds won't charge him, every state AG should begin exploring what crimes Fauci can be charged with for murdering citizens. We cannot fuck around with this mass murderer any longer.
To paraphrase Trump: Either Fauci lives out his last days in a prison cell or we don't have a country.
What they did when they squashed all debate about the origins of covid was "antithetical to science. Science requires debate, and they stopped all debate."
Also, he is asked about Fauci being advised that his agency (the NIAID) funded the Wuhan lab, and that he subsequently "vehemently" denied this under oath. He is also asked if there is any doubt Fauci funded gain-of-function in Wuhan. He says flatly, "The US funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan."
He doesn't say "Fauci," but who else was this much a crusader for Virus Frankensteinism?

Ed Morrissey. Even The Science (TM) writers at the New York Times seem like they've had their fill of Fauci's endless self-justifying lies and alibis. From the NY Post:
"Fauci was probably not too pleased to hear that the virus might have escaped from research that his agency had funded," Nicholas Wade, who also served as an editor for the journals Nature and Science, told the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. ...
The journalist and author pointed the finger of blame squarely at Fauci and former NIH Director Francis Collins, saying: "It's hard to believe that in the twilight of their long careers they would seriously mishandle an issue as important as the origin of the COVID virus, yet that is what the evidence seems to point to."
"The national media swallowed the natural origins story unskeptically, and once committed to it, failed to report important contrary evidence," he added.
Meanwhile, 60 Minutes is trying to pretend they weren't all-in on the coverup.
Credibility crisis: '60 Minutes' tries turning back the clock after declaring COVID lab leak theory 'debunked'
CBS News' Scott Pelley said attacks on the Wuhan lab were the result of a 'political disinformation campaign'
By Joseph A. Wulfsohn | Fox News
'60 Minutes' declared the lab leak theory 'debunked' before calling it a 'leading' COVID origin
CBS News' "60 Minutes" dismissed the COVID lab-leak theory as "debunked" nearly a year before before taking the idea of a potential accident at the Wuhan lab seriously.
The once-respected CBS News program "60 Minutes" attempted to set the record straight about the origins of COVID nearly a year after declaring the lab-leak theory "debunked."
In recent days, the theory that COVID originated from a lab leak in Wuhan had been embraced by FBI Director Christopher Wray and a bombshell report indicated that the U.S. Energy Department believes the virus likely started in the lab.
However, back in May 2020, CBS News' Scott Pelley cast significant doubt on the Trump administration's assertions of the theory, telling viewers "both the White House and the Chinese Communist Party have been less than honest."
Instead, Pelley hyped the credibility of Peter Daszak, president of the group EcoHealth Alliance and one of the world's most vocal foes of the lab-leak theory. EcoHealth Alliance received government funding from the National Institutes of Health and has had a long working partnership with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), which is now widely believed to be ground zero for the COVID pandemic.
The "60 Minutes" correspondent praised the work of EcoHealth-WIV at the time as being "critical right now."
"And so that [Remdesivir] testing would not have been possible if it hadn't been for the work that you did with the NIH grant," Pelley said.
"Correct," Daszak responded.
I thought I read that Remdesivir was a nearly-useless drug. I can't prove that right now because of course all of the search engine "curate" the information I can find about its actual effectiveness.
Update:
But both decisions baffled scientists who have closely watched the clinical trials of remdesivir unfold over the past 6 months--and who have many questions about remdesivir's worth. At best, one large, well-designed study found remdesivir modestly reduced the time to recover from COVID-19 in hospitalized patients with severe illness. A few smaller studies found no impact of treatment on the disease whatsoever. Then, on 15 October--in this month's decidedly unfavorable news for Gilead--the fourth and largest controlled study delivered what some believed was a coup de grâce: The World Health Organization's (WHO's) Solidarity trial showed that remdesivir does not reduce mortality or the time COVID-19 patients take to recover.

Pelley lamented how the Trump administration abruptly ended EcoHealth's funding because of a "political disinformation campaign targeting China's Wuhan Institute."
"As the U.S. led the world in illness and death, the White House moved the focus to the Chinese government," Pelley told viewers as he swiped the Trump administration. "Last Sunday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo attempted to resurrect a debunked theory that the virus was man-made in China... The administration has offered no evidence of an accident or genetic engineering."
The "60 Minutes" correspondent pushed the notion that the virus stemmed from a wet market and turned to another expert who suggested that the virus came naturally from a pangolin.
"There is zero evidence that his virus came out of a lab in China," Daszak insisted.
"Does the Wuhan Institute of Virology, to your knowledge, have this virus in its inventory?" Pelley asked.
"No," Daszak answered.
"Why do you say so?" Pelley followed.
"The closest known relative is one that's different enough that it is not SARS-CoV 2, so there's just no evidence that anybody had it in the lab anywhere in the world prior to the outbreak," Daszak answered.
CBS News has said its report was based on the facts known at that time.
