59 Merry Christmas all. I think the lavender and gold trees were from the Christmas tree lot. A poke at the artificial tree craze. My grandma had an early one that was all silver tinsel. She got a plastic green one a few years before the 'retro' aluminum silver ones were considered cool. Rather encapsulates my family. Hang on to old stuff and finally replace it shortly before it becomes a bit of an antique item. But most of our old stuff is always too shabby to be antique class. Although I don't recall thinking that silver tree was getting shabby before it was replaced.

Ruminating mammals include cattle, all domesticated and wild bovines, goats, sheep, giraffes, deer, gazelles, and antelopes.

It has also been suggested that notoungulates also relied on rumination, as opposed to other atlantogenates that rely on the more typical hindgut fermentation, though this is not entirely certain.

Here in Pennsylvania under the state monopoly, it's considered Gainzzz to retrieve the best bargain basement booze from six inches off the floor. Like deep knee bends.

I tried having pity for the clerks who have to continually restock the most favorite booze from six inches off the floor. But it didn't take. I tried again, still didn't take. I should be better, but not gonna happen, apparently.

Not too hard to rewire or that expensive to cat 8 (dunno if approved yet formally or not) or so. I had it done precovid and could not be more pleased with bandwidth. Only phones are on wifi now and just now stepping up to gigabit level service anyway but have had to exchange video files over the home network for a project in the past. The nice thing about the newer spec'ed cables is the exterior shielding jacket like co ax.

One of the rare times, I spent the money to jump to the front of the tech line rather than wait about three years or so like I usually do.

223 NGU I'd think a remote and modern TVs are your friend? Instant muting/blacking out of commercials (all kinds). Have a friend who is into sports - he's sadly also an LIV moonbat, but never raises the general subject so that's good - and he hates all commercials. He watches all games on a 5-minute delay, so he can just fast-forward through all commercials and most commentator jaw-flapping. I kind of like it. When we see him (he invites us over for college hoops or football mostly) we see zero commercials, plus the whole game takes about 40% less time.

Couldn't imagine doing it any other way if I were watching TV sports.

Record changers were before the advent of AOR, which was really a 70's kind of thing. By the early 70's, single play turntables were becoming the big thing. I do vaguely recall having a record changer in the late 60's early 70's, probably Radio Shack. My Dad had a Gerard turntable back in the day, it was a changer that had this thing that looked like a pencil sharpener hold/drop the records. That was SOTA in a big way. I really want to restore the P&M's hifi cabinet to its original glory - it's a stunning piece of furniture.

255 Way back in the early seventies, I designed solid state audio power amplifiers. The total harmonic distortion was less than 0.1% over the entire 20Hz - 20KHz audio spectrum. These amplifiers were an order of magnitude better than vacuum tube amplifiers. And yet, the "audiophiles" would always say the tube amplifiers "sounded better" than the solid state amplifiers. All of this is not to mention that the signal from the amplifier was fed to a loudspeaker that already had 4% or 5% distortion all by itself. "Audiophiles" are a certain type of moron.
