The Saturday Night Joke

Two women were out for a Saturday stroll. One had a Doberman and the other, a Chihuahua.

As they walked down the street, the one with the Doberman said to her friend,
"Let's go over to that bar for a drink."

The lady with the Chihuahua said,"We can't go in there. We've got dogs with us."

The one with the Doberman said,"Just watch, and do as I do."

They walked over to the bar and the one with the Doberman put on a pair of dark glasses and started to walk in. The bouncer at the door said, "Sorry, lady, no pets allowed."

The woman with the Doberman said,"You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog."

The bouncer said,"A Doberman?"

The woman said, "Yes, they're using them now. They're very good."

The bouncer said, "OK, come on in."

The lady with the Chihuahua thought that convincing him that a Chihuahua was a seeing-eye dog may be a bit more difficult, but thought, "What the heck," so she put on her dark glasses and started to walk in.

Once again the bouncer said, "Sorry, lady, no pets allowed."

The woman said,"You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog."

The bouncer said, "A Chihuahua?"

The woman with the Chihuahua said, ........

"A Chihuahua? They gave me a fucking Chihuahua?!"

The ONT Is Always Looking Out For YouTM. How to survive your next visit from your Mother-in-Law.How to Survive Encounters with Dangerous Animals

A new book breaks down the skills required for dealing with 40 different creatures

he title of Rachel Levin’s new book, Look Big, is just about the best two words of advice one can give about how to survive most animal encounters. In her illustrated service manual, Levin breaks down how to handle 50 different kinds of animals common in North America, based on expert advice. Let’s look at her tips for dealing with five of these creatures and see how they stack up with what the experts say—and with real-world experience.

Reason #17 why I am thankful, living without neighbors.

'Do I have legal ground to sue?': Karen accuses neighbor's bees of trespassing and stealing from her flowers
I swear, Karens just live for lawsuits. This one seems to think she actually has a compelling case here.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/F***YouKaren subreddit by u/Sasquatch4600, who shared Karen's strongly worded letter. Essentially, her neighbor is a beekeeper who harvests honey and sells it at the nearby market. This greedy Karen feels that she deserves some sort of a cut considering that the bees will occasionally fly into her garden and "steal" pollen and nectar from her flowers. She literally draws a direct comparison between this scenario and one in which a dog would trespass and "steal balls or tools" from someone's lawn. Hopefully, someone out there has the patience to tell this woman that these two scenarios are very much not one and the same.

Previously The ONT covered (no pun intended) the story of Judge Vivian Polania. She still has a job after she serves a lengthy timeout.

A Colombian judge was suspended for three months after she conducted a court hearing half-naked from bed while smoking a cigarette.

Judge Vivian Polania violated several administrative regulations, the Judicial Disciplinary Commission in Norte de Santander ruled this week following the incident, news outlet Infobae reported.

Here's a friendly reminder to those who like to drink aboard cruise ships. Do not attempt to piss off the side of a ship.

A man who went overboard on a Carnival cruise ship this week has been rescued after being found in the Gulf of Mexico 21 hours after he had last been seen.

The 28-year-old man, who has not been identified, was a passenger on the Carnival Valor, which set out from New Orleans towards Cozumel, Mexico, on Wednesday, CNN reported. The man had been drinking at a shipboard bar with his sister, but disappeared around 11 p.m. after saying he was going to use the bathroom.

No word if his lucky rabbit's foot or his horseshoe were retrieved.

Well that was certainly a weird ending to a birthday party. Genius Award Winner.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A frightened 12-year-old boy called 911 after his father took him without notice and allegedly tried driving drunk from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

"I need help. My dad is trying to take me to Vegas. He's acting weird," the boy is heard telling dispatchers during the frantic phone call.

Authorities were able to rescue the boy, but not until his allegedly drunk father reached the Inland Empire.

While extant in name and location, Dickens Fair is now essentially a costumed Christmas shopping mall as a result of various current issues (which I shan't delve into). I was a rock and roll guy, but keep in mind it wasn't Disco, which made it more popular than otherwise might have been the case. Tightly produced, catchy melodies, sonics excellent, it was recorded meticulously.

64 Right, so I had the annual physical not so long ago (exact times and dates may have been changed because y'know opsec). No mention of the Fauci Ouchie, but the doc was weirdly aggressive about getting a flu shot. Frankly never experienced that sort of thing before, so I can appreciate the unease that people got when their physicians were pushing certain experimental treatments really hard a year or so ago. In any case I politely but pointedly noted that, whatever the broad based benefits of flu vaccines may be, the House of Plus has no actual empirical record of ever actually contracting anything resembling influenza in the 70+ years of available records and I'm not really in the habit of getting unnecessary medical procedures.

I halfway expect this guy to ask at some point if he can score some blood samples to send in to the local research university to try to figure out why it is that some immune systems work with the fury of the Angry Marines. In which case, hey, happy to contribute. I'm rather a bit curious about certain personally experienced digestive and psychological phenomena and how they might relate to this so there might be learning all around.

Covid left Dickens on the Strand as a shadow of it's former self. It's the local RenFest for the resident see-and-be-seen-crowd, one and the same as the Maskovites. Which, is not fitting with a Dickensean Halloween Costume. Confusion ensued.

IIRC, the admission charge to get into the blocked off Dickens area ain't cheep, but I *am* cheap, and I ain't payin'.

78 It's the local RenFest for the resident see-and-be-seen-crowd, one and the same as the Maskovites. Which, is not fitting with a Dickensean Halloween Costume.

Portland's anime festival a couple of weeks ago required that everyone wear an N-95 mask at all times.

Kinda ruins the visual impact of the cosplay.

A propos of nothing, my dad apparently had a couple of unfortunate power tool related incidents when he was young and has bare minimum neural response in his hands. Two separate incidents, because Plussites never learn the first time. Guy has to be really careful around the said stove burners because he can't actually feel the hot.

I have thankfully learned from his example and never severed any fingers. I've done the fleshy-but-regrowing fingertips though. Two separate incidents, because Plussites never learn the first time!

Anyway, he was hawking a new album and a new single which they played, which is supposedly about the said gripes, and I must say that Smashing Pumpkins' characteristic vicious guitar work and damn near impenetrable lyrics have not mellowed with age.

But now at least, one mile from home, I get a lot of basic stuff, instead of 12 miles to WalMart. Life is simple ... but I still don't drive their on my lawnmower or UTV.

(but I could easily do it on my fat tire e-bike, in some dystopian dilemma where grid down but solar panels survive, AND Dollar General still has the basic supply lines intact). heh or I could even walk a mile, for a camel? hahaha.

Either they're happy to just have it on the market for those interested, or they're Don Barzini manipulating everything through catspaws. I think it's probably the former, but it's certainly an interesting observation.

It's also an interesting observation that all medical advertising is legally required to consist mostly of the bad sounding potential side effects of whatever they're advertising, to the point of it being a common subject of comedy. On the Thanksgiving ONT a couple of days ago, I stumbled on the story of "Clock B" and rambled about it a bit. The was the realization of one of horologist John Harrison's final designs, about 250 years later. Here's a couple of more good articles about that:

https://tinyurl.com/2lymxusw

https://tinyurl.com/2qnxz47o

Harrison's final treatise, where he claimed he could make a pendulum clock that could be accurate to less than 1 s per 100 days, was ridiculed and mocked at the time. Ol' Harrison had lost his damned mind. He was savagely attacked and dismissed.

But as you can see, he knew what he was talking about. Clock B is the most accurate mechanical clock in the world, with the caveat of "pendulum swinging in free air".

It didn't run any worse than normal. The only difference was that when the car was being tested for emissions, a mechanism sprayed unburned diesel oil into the exhaust which reduced the pollutants to compliant levels. If that system operated all the time, the vehicle mileage would have been terrible (after all, you're spraying your perfectly good fuel into the exhaust) and the car would be uncompetitive.

257 It didn't run any worse than normal.

------------

VW (and others) just wanted to sell a compliant diesel without an expensive onboard DEF system. DEF systems accomplish the same thing by injecting a formula containing urea into the exhaust.

Their judgment in how to accomplish this was, shall we say, lacking.

I was in a Wal-Mart today and went into the toy section. First time I've been there in a while. I found that the board game Clue has the traditional characters except Mrs. White. She's been replaced by Dr. Olive, who appears to have Asian ancestry.

As for the orhers, Miss Scarlet is still a slut, and the men look the same -- well, Col. Mustard has dropped a few decades. But Mrs. Peacock? Whew! She's gone MILF. A far cry from the matron that was in my '70s edition.

But what made it necessary to replace good old Mrs. White?

Protests have erupted in Beijing and the far western Xinjiang region over COVID-19 lockdowns and a deadly fire on Thursday in a high-rise building in Urumqi that killed 10 people.

Crowds took to the street in Urumqi, the capitol of Xinjiang, with protesters chanting "End the lockdown!" while pumping their fists in the air, following the circulation of videos of the fire on Chinese social media on Friday night.

Protest videos show people in a plaza singing China's national anthem - particularly the line: "Rise up, those who refuse to be slaves!" Others shouted that they did not want lockdowns. In the northern Beijing district of Tiantongyuan, residents tore down signs and took to the streets.

No they didn't! In the 80s, they were all hippie chicks who didn't shave and they stank.

Before United bought out ass-raped Continental Airlines, Continental used to have good looking Stewardesses.

Now, they have five o' clock shadowed twink stewards masquerading as flight attendants, handing out pretzels as your reward for not jumping out of your seats and strangling the restrictive, arrogant flight crews.

Aero Pinochet will restore proper Stewardess service. Pleasing to provide you your drink as the Loadmaster ejects your commie ass over the Sacramento River Delta.

Trim the aircraft about 10 degrees nose up, and lower the tail ramp, as the loadmaster trips the pallet release. Do we need a drogue chute?

368 There is this book called Clouds of Glory by Michael Korda. It is a biography of R.E. Lee. There are better books on the subject though I doubt one that goes into it in more detail on a personal level.

I know my fair share about this guy, but it wasn’t about biographies. The one all should read is R.E. Lee by Southhall Freeman.

The reason I bring it up is I have renewed this Korda book ten times because I was reading different things. Not once did anyone else claim it or reserve it. The reality is know one cares about Grant and Lee. They are two of the five most consequential men in US history, and few could give three words on them.
