Work today but hopefully only for an 8 hour day. Been putting in 10-12 hour days the past few weeks. It's catching up to me!

The appropriate thing to do is for Musk to close down all operations in Europe and direct users at a US-based portal to pay their $8.

This. Tell the Euros and the Schwabbos to sod off.

You would be pissed off, too, if your turbocharged and unicorn sparkles-decorated censorship wand, for which you worked so hard, was suddenly rendered powerless.

16 Trying to catch up on a lot of stuff my former co-worker left undone. Things I'm finding that I didn't know she had slacked on, as those things were not ever part of my job. Computer crap. Updating price books and such. Time consuming, and annoying because the program is glitch-y.

Takes a lot of time away from my regular tasks and we don't have a lot of employees so playing catch up every day

Posted by: My Life is Insanity at November 25, 2022 04:13 AM (wbI6p)

17 The FTC meanwhile is frowning at Microsoft's acquisition of Activision. (Ars Technica) Which in my opinion is good news for Microsoft.

I read the linked article. I don't understand how Microsoft being delayed/denied the right to merge would be good news to Microsoft.

19 Methinks the EU has done figured out that bullying Musk about censorship won't be a snap; now comes the flop sweat.

Of course, the Euroweenies don't have to build their own social platform, they can just use China's.

Howdy, y'all.

20 17 I read the linked article. I don't understand how Microsoft being delayed/denied the right to merge would be good news to Microsoft.

That price was calculated before the stock market went belly up. A fair price is probably half that.

Or Microsoft could take that money and fund a thousand new AAA-level games. Though there simply aren't enough talented directors and developers to deliver on that task in any reasonable amount of time.

Posted by: Pixy Misa at November 25, 2022 04:17 AM (BLOW1)

Today I will probably, but reluctantly, wade into the briar patches of allocating costs and earnings for printing and on-line ticket sales for our recent public rock and mineral show and then shove off for the blessed realm of preparing next year's preliminary budgets. You do not find fun, fun finds you!

One BiL asked me yesterday whether I retained any longing for, or knowledge of, my former job from which I retired. I told him that those barnacles were scraped off the hull as soon as day one of my retirement commenced. "I still have plenty to do, but I enjoy it all much more, if not immensely, because the timing and extent of what I do is completely mine to decide."

34 The EU is the world's largest mafia syndicate in the world. Just like the mafia made businesses pay a tribute or protection payment, the EU demands anyone doing business in the bloc bow down to their asinine demands. Like how any streamer has to produce a ton of shitty localised content if they want to run their service there, so now they need to either produce 10,000 hours of Estonian TV, or just limit Estonian Netflix to 2 US shows and 2 Estonian shows.

Hopefully Musk calls their bluff and does what he wants, pointing out how everyone threatening him and making demands of him, are totally cool with China running a spy App disguised as a social media app, all free from the same restrictions they want to impose on Twitter.

I work with people who constantly put in 12+ hour days, 5 days a week, for like 7 month spans, i have no clue how the hell they do it. (For some it's like 14-15 hour days for that time)

I did like 14 hour days for about 2 months once, with a week break in the middle, and that was my very limit. Though I also had anywhere from 2 to 3 hours of travel based on the way the trains ran added to that.

Hello, all! Survived Thanksgiving, did you? Well, today you must stay *away* from all Walmarts and Targets, all malls, and any other place where mobs gather. Saving a few bucks on a big-screen TV is not worth the annoyance of crowds, not to mention the chance of being trampled or shot. "Black" Friday indeed.

I'm up early with the furry thugs. It's warm and rainy, so no outdoor workout this morning; stretches only, then breakfast. How about you?

The truth of the matter is that Alex Jones secured the permits for the J6 events, and probably a bunch of his nutty followers were involved in the mayhem. Should Nancy Pelosi been aware of this and requested the National Guard be on hand? Absolutely, positively. She clearly must have had a clue that things could get ugly. She's either the most brain dead politician or the most conniving bitch to ever walk the planet.

57 I went to a Black Friday Wallyworld sale many years ago. Fashionably late, I ambled into the store at 6:30 am, when the doors had been open for a half hour.

Holey Guacamole! I managed to wriggle my way over to the area of the item I was semi-interested in, to find them all gone-gone. And the lines at the cash registers? At least 100 deep.

So out I went, sans anything other than my sanity.

It's just stuff I can get at any dollar store, but I'm going to one about 8 miles out of my way to avoid anything to do with Black Friday. The main business strip is wild any day, but once you get Black Friday business it's terrible. Another major route is getting just as bad (another Super Center).

Nonfeasance is the failure to act where action is required — willfully or in neglect.

Nancy Pelosi not requesting the National Guard. Trump could not make that request, it was the duty of the Speaker of the House.

Malfeasance is the willful and intentional action that injures a party. The death of Ashley Babbit was a direct result of Nancy's nonfeasance.

74 Something that won't be moving during a rail strike people don't think of. I was stretching my legs at one of those little picnic table areas off I40 a trip or two back. Looking south, I was watching a west bound train, longest one I ever saw, four locomotives pulling, one bringing up the rear. All shipping containers, no doubt empties, heading back to port. Truckers hate to dead head, so empty containers go back by rail. Ships won't sail unless loaded, so there they sit until containers arrive. The same dock cranes load empties and the inbound full ones, and they get tied up. Bottleneck.

David praised focused on God's glorious acts. It is easy for all of us to complain about life, but David's list gives us plenty for which to praise God-his forgiveness , healing , redemption, loving kindness tender mercies, providence, righteousness, justice, grace, patience,. We receive all of these without deserving any of them. No matter how difficult your life's journey, you can always count -past, present, and future. When you feel as if you have nothing for which to praise God,

Went to one of the bigger area ones. The dealer was evidently a newbie, with The Guy in the Suit (the pit boss) hovering over her, making her nervous. And she was wearing a damn mask. Hard to understand her, and you want to see facial expression even on the grizzled vets. Played for an hour, went over to the travel center slot parlor, left there up $50, had a meal and went home.

The feminists turned Viagra into a dirty word, an almost 'date rape' type of drug. It's nothing of the kind. It simply replicates to a high degree the vasodilation of blood vessels that naturally occurs after eating certain foods like watermelon.

It's a wonder drug that works on both men and women. The 'side effect' is lowering blood pressure. Which is very good in proper dose.

The entire point of that story is that literal interpretation of directives can have unintended consequences. But that also, robots/computers are very literal things.

The problem with drones/robots is that they allow for a certain disconnection from the situation they are involved in. That can be good if it means the operator can not get caught up in the moment and do something tragic, but it also allows for widescale slaughter if that is what the operator wants.

It doesn't matter, because it's not what the Republic needs right now. This Republic desperately needs the scales rebalanced. As it is clear that we cannot get along with our fellow Americans on the Left as we have in the past, this new paradigm, the "fear factor," must be introduced or this country is finished as we know it. The GOP must proceed full speed ahead with impeachments, investigations, and subpoenas, whatever it takes to give the left a good taste of their own medicine.

There's a difference between an atheist and an anti-religious hate bigot like Harris.

179 167 The reaction to Musk's takeover and anti-censorship policies on Twitter has been fascinating to watch. I think this is going to have a much bigger impact than predicted.

I argued with someone once: if all of this is a happy coincidence. That the right chemicals were in the right place at the right time. That they came together in just the right way to form life. Then that life just happened to come together to form new, more complex life. That that life achieved sentience and could think for itself and be able to understand the world around it. That it could then get to the point where it is asking the big questions about it's existence. That it could eventually create Bach and Michelangelo.

That is nothing short of a miracle. That makes life even more Sacred than if God did it. So why are you pro abortion? That is nihilistic as fuck.

He is. But there is some interesting stuff happening as well.

The other day he announced that mission #1 is getting rid of child porn type accounts and all of a sudden a bunch of antifa related accounts went poof.

And tons of leftwing accounts are threatening to leave or doing it just because Musk is not continuing to censor conservatives and bringing some back who were wrongly banned. Leftists are shriveling up like the wicked witch when hit by water at the prospect of having to make their arguments without the aid of censorship.

A person could string together some interesting conspiracy theories with that information. One of them being the lack of prosecution of the perps who burned and looted.

Not sure if this sort of suit has any de facto expiry on it the way trademarks do.

Interesting if the case goes forward. I've read that DOS 1.0 had the exact same first 20 O/S calls as CPM. The theory is that DOS was the thief.
Posted by: Divide by Zero at November 25, 2022 05:03 AM (y3pKJ)

That's 1980's conspiracy theories right there. That Gates is just a theif. DOS was stolen. Microsoft is actually his pet name for his dick... etc. etc...

I didn't say Gates was a thief. He purchased the company after the theft had already occurred. Educate yourself on CPM and DOS and get back to me.

Intellectual property laws were pretty nonexistent in those early days.
